Yeah, i bought one fresh out of high school like 10 years ago because i thought it was cool. Been in the box pretty much constantly ever since.
Imagine the pain of trying to sharpen that 💀
I have the full serrated version and I sharpen it with various diameter CBN rods
@@Zero_8347 how do you get the fine serration valleys? I always try to use the 90 degree corner of a stone. They’re super fine and hard to get to

You cut a negative shape, of the feature you want to create onto the stone.
When you use the stone, you cut a positive shape in to the workpiece.
This works for everything from a bench grinder, to angle grinder, to a static bench stone (normal whetstone), and even "slipstones" custom shaped handheld stones that you can use for small features or cramped work areas.
I have a fully serrated matriarch2. They aren't as hard to sharpen as you'd think, but like, you'd only wanna use a matriarch2 on something soft anyway..... I don't own one but those talons look awesome and I love waves

For quite some time now karambits and balisongs have been my two favorite knives. I Haven't been able to choose between the two, and I think I may have just found the solution
I may be a little biased due to it being my issued combat knife, but I adore tanto blades
The black talon has the most badass blade i've seen on a fold knife, that's fucking awesome

@@marcoconuts there's various differences: the black talon is quite a bit larger, the controls are different (safety, the point where you push to flick and all thoose things) and the curvature on the tip seems different to me

I picked a Spyderco McBee up not long ago and swap the front show size scale for a timascus scale and I absolutely love this little guy! This little knife makes a perfect fifth pocket carry or you can carry it just like a typical knife seeing how it has a pocket clip I just wish they would make a timascus tiny pocket clip for it though

Spyderco titanium frame locks are the nicest knives you can buy bar none. Anything made from their Taichung Taiwan plant is a masterpiece.

That Cold Steel Black Talon is no joke! It is capable of delivering devastating slash cuts. With the thumb stud allowing you to wave open it, the deployment is very fast. I carry it left side at the front of my pocket I am able to draw without pulling back and go straight into a slash. I have the fully serrated one, and it is extremely sharp.

Edit: the CS Black Talon will give the Spyderco Matriarch a run for its money.
@Mako I love Spyderco and really considered the Matriarch however the Cold Steel uses S35VN steel and has a longer blade. That was the main factor for me. I would still like to get a Matriarch to compare the 2.
The black talon thumb stud is designed to catch on your pocket when you pull it out so that it's immediately deployed when you pull it out.
@Xavier Yes it is actually patented by Andrew Demco. The Emerson wave is also patented and both do the same thing. Emerson just incorporated it directly into the blade.

CTS-XHP is a slept on steel. Not sure why more knife makers don’t use it. The heat treat isn’t difficult from what I’ve learned and the edge is great.

When he started opening the balisong karambit thing on the bite handle I almost had a seizure

My favorite EDC that was cheap I got 5 for $0.99. They are foldable credit card knives. The blade comes sharp and it doesn’t take much to make it razor sharp. I keep it in my wallet and gave the extras to friends and family. It actually saved one of my friends a lot of trouble. He was going to have to drive a long way to get something and he remembered that knife I gave him and it got him out of the situation without having to go anywhere. I love it when I hear a story from someone that a little gift I gave them saved the day for them. 1 out of 4 has told me how it saved him so I feel happy that I was able to help them without being there.

I really love that folding karambit, and the design on that talent is straight up genius. Imagine having that in the jungle back in the day everybody would've been jealous.
I got two of the folding karambits last year still have them their hard to sharpen since I don't have the right tools but nice knife overall great conversation starter

I've never been a karambit guy but I'm leaning in thet direction. I've been carrying the Spyderco Matriarch 2 daily for almost a year now after a year of just keeping it for the collection because honestly she's scary. As as long as I respect her she's great. She's all self defense but some cool little lite uses for the needle point. This is why I'm really open to the Black Talon. I also carry a KaBar TDI or Benchmade Adamas a Streamlight and a little Victorinox or multi tool. Any consolidation/utility holster recommendations? 5.11 clothing?

The mantis blade is a cool knife to have, it just comes apart really easily so before use I recommend using screw glue to keep it together
