so in love. you just sent me on a scavenger hunt through my home, and i finally enjoyed freely collaging around in my journal, because you are so absolutely inspiring in commenting your process. I am a fan!
That’s so awesome! I love the word “freely” because that is what art journaling is all about! Explore, play, discover! 😊
I am Nervous and excited to try this
Your art work is very inspirational

I'm so darn excited i found you tonight. You are to art making what Jamie Oliver is to chefdom. 😅 No precious fussing but with delicious results. Can't wait til the a.m. to get started playing. Thank you for your generosity.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Cosmetic sponges at discount stores are cheap and good for stenciling. 😉
That’s right. I forgot about those. Thank you!
No, I want these to be more free and easy! Lol.
I just love your colour balance I must try college Amazing xxx
Thanks! It is a wonderful medium.
So happy to have found you on UA-cam and now instagram. Love your collage work Michele. You have a very natural teaching style too, so thanks!
Wonderful work! It's so inspiring to watch your pieces come together - your gentle narration gives me headspace to think of how I may apply your techniques and hints to my own experiments with color and texture. Thank you!!
You’re welcome and thanks for watching!
Just love this!
Thank you!
I just LOVE your work, presentation style and calm voice.. I am soooo inspired.

Thank you!
Really exciting! I love your use of the new stencils …as always thanks for sharing 💕
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Excellent art
Brilliant and inspiring!
Thank you!
Loving this series. Thank you so much. I used to be a very realistic artist but I am mesmerized by abstract work now.
Abstract is so incredible.
Thank you for the inspiration! I so enjoyed watching this video and at the same time thinking about what my choices would have been on placing the paint, stencils or papers. I like how you show your creative proces, it helps me to connect with my own proces of finding out what works for me and I like how your choices surprise me and how I can relate to them. It really helps! Love your art ❤️
There are so many choices but over time we find the ones that are authentic to us. Thanks for watching!
I binge-watched your entire (first?) ‘Art and Soul Journaling’ series while traveling, promising myself I would devote 30 minutes every day to playing intuitively, noticing what I like, and the things I discover. Today is my first day home, and I watched this video while imitating your process. You make it easy to simply grab scraps of paper, a limited palette, a stencil or two, and some mark-making tools, just to see what happens and follow my intuition. Thank you so much for sharing your work - your encouragement to play is contagious!
Thank you! So glad to be helpful!
Thorough explanation of process! Love from Muskoka.
This is so satisfying to watch. My eyes are sparkling at watching the colours and textures. I'm very inspired to play with your ideas this weekend. Thanksies.
Welcome and thanks for watching!
I am in love with your art and videos. U explain what is going on in ur head. That’s what so many miss !! Thank you. I’m a huge fan.
Thank you for watching! Glad to be of help.
My favorite of them all. So lovely
Thank you! It is always so intriguing as to which one is the favourite.
@@micheleholdenart I think the balance is what I like so much. It just moves me.
@@jessicarossland2286 Yes, I was working on that aspect near the end.
I am gobsmacked to watch your process. The way you used your materials is inspiring!
Thank you so much!
@@micheleholdenart You're welcome!
Love the black and white and simple use of color. Glad I found you! Liked and subscribed ❤️
Thanks!I am also liking the simpler palette.
just found your channel and liked and subscribed. 🎉Love how you explain your process. I want to do abstract and collage without a particular subject in mind.
Thanks! Welcome! You are in the right place! 😊Join my newsletter to be first to hear about everything!
To get a nice crisp effect, especially with a detailed stencil, I like using a stencil brush rather than a sponge.
Thanks! I will try that.
I’d love to know the name of the botanical stencil you used.
This page is really lovely! No masking tape this time...
This is another fantastic piece of art. I just send some videos to my best friend in Germany. She is an illustrator, but lately, she started to make collages as well. I hear you there " I can't understand my writing"....LOL. Few years ago I did pours and made notes about the paints and recipes from glues and when I came back a few months later I did not understand my notes either. I love your thinking-out-loud process. Thank you again for those nice videos. I also watched Adele for a while.
Thank for watching and your wonderful comments! I love abstract art.
New subscriber here! 💜
I really love this, and I love how calming your voice is 🥰
Thanks so much! Welcome!
I love this. I would suggest, though, some of the nickel azo gold over a few of the white dots on the left and the stenciled area at the botto.to get your eye to track to that side of the page. Really great inspiration page!
Thanks for the tip and for watching!
To get a better result from the stencil use thicker paint; the runny paint seeps under the stencil .😊
Thanks for the tip!
Love to watch. Each layer is a work of art. What stencil on the bottom left in white?
If you use acrylic paint on some kinds of parchment paper, it will flake off when dry. Still good for translucent elements that are stapled or attached in non glue ways. (She says from experience with some lovely parchment paper. )
Hi and thanks for your comprehensive approach to videos that give us a look into your process. What I found most helpful was your talking about why you changed your mind about elements throughout the video. Btw, I like Stencil Girl stencils, too. I tried to find the one you have at the top of your page. It looks like circuitry but it isn't SG's circuit stencil. If you remember the name, please let me know. Meantime, just know that your videos are like attending a favorite class!
Thank you so much! I am trying to get better with sharping my thinking. As I become clearer I believe other creatives will benefit. I will check the source of that stencil for you. Yes, that one I bought at Curries Art Store awhile ago. Hope this helps.
@@micheleholdenart You're clarity is doing fine! The stencil may have been discontinued. Curry's sells Crafter's Workshop stencils and it's not at Curry's or CW's site. But CR, wow! Another great manufacturer to explore. Lots of interesting abstracts over there. I like the abstracts because they invite changes as we go. Thanks for the technical quality of your videos where we can see what you're doing. - eleny
Your work flow and explanations of your intuitive process are so helpful. I look forward to more videos of this series. Just wondering what glue stick you use as I notice you often glue on top of your collage pieces. Thank you for your inspiration.
You are so welcome! I am using Grand and Toy glue stick. I got them in bulk.
Love your channel , ware can I get those stencils and I seen in other videos you use I think a water-soluble Crayola crays?
Some are stencil girl. I will try those crayons. Thanks for watching!
@@micheleholdenart Thank You so much Im so glad I ran across your channel great content and very inspirational
Hi, Really enjoyed this. What paper did you use please?
Thank you! I use a mixed media 11x14 Canson.
Love the stencil in the lower left; is it from Stencil Girl?
Thanks! Yes it is from stencil girl.
I was wondering if you remembered the name of that male art journalist you referred to in this video. I just love your artistic eye and sense of style. You’ve inspired me! Thank you.
Thank you so much. I think it might be Nicholas Wilton.
@@micheleholdenart Thank you! I’m curious to see what has inspired you. 😉
What is the name of the botanical stencil you used? So interesting.
Yes! I will have to check and get back to you.
Love your channel❤️ is there a way to get closer to the camera? Just a thought because I seem to always be trying to make things bigger!!!
Do you mean the Art journal itself?
Camera.. XO
I noticed that you use a glue pen and not a medium for gluing your collage pieces down. Is there a reason for this. Also noticed that you don’t wash your stencils straight away. Does the paint come off easily afterwards?
I don’t wash them and I use the glue stick for fast pages. No rules.
I’m new in abstract art can you please explain positive and negative shapes for me? Thank you in advance
Might you be referring to positive and negative space? Thanks for your question.
@@micheleholdenart yes This is what I’m referring to
Ok. Any shape is the positive space and all the areas around your shapes are the negative space.
@@micheleholdenart Thank you for explaining this to me
