"WAT DE FUK DID I DO WRONG? TELL ME!" - Every nightclub bouncer can probably relate to that moment.
Everytime I watch an Arnold movie now l must play the Val Verde commentary as well. Bless you boys!
The moment I see Val Verde and any reference to an Ahnuld film I know there are going to be quality impressions within. I click immediately.
Love to hear ya boys talk Hollow Man!
Back in the day ITV on a Saturday night was the place to be: Total Recall, Aliens, Predator etc. So many first time viewings for me!
Along with Tomato Doritos and a cold Coke! I remember those films by the taste!
@@davidjames579 I definitely remember the Diet Coke sponsorship!

Great job Richard and Duncan, wonderful commentary. Seems to be so much to like about Total Recall and I’d love to give it a re-watch but it’s one of those movies I saw too young and the Rob Bottin puppets utterly terrified me 😅😅
Seeing this commentary post in my newsfeed was a positive bright spot in a sea of miserable shit today, so thank you, gents 🙏🏻
Sorry to hear your day sucked, happy to hear we helped a little!

The Studiocanal Blu-ray release of this is great. AUSTRIAN JEESHUS!
Ridley Scott's third Alien prequel is like the RLM jingle they came up with for Glass: "It's the last film, and you saw the first two, so why not see the third?"
A commentary on a Paul Verhoeven film... one step closer to that 'Showgirls' commentary/review. Get on it boys!
Showgirls has one of the worst sex scenes in film history...
I second that emotioonnnn.... (both for the Showgirls commentary, and the worst sex scene in film history)
Come on Cohaagen, you got what you want. Give these people air!
Cohaagen hands over a copy of Moon Safari
The Rekall doctor will always be the mortician from Arachnophobia to me - that bit where the spider crawls out his nostril *shudder*
do not remember that scene, sounds horrifying. I may have to go back and re watch that movie
@@drop_messages6226 That film is the reason I recoil at the sight of spiders now.
Highly entertaining gents.
16:00 I like to think that the entire movie was just his 'vacation'. But not getting any official answer on that is A-OK. Ridley Scott could take a fucking cue from Verhoeven on that one.
This movie missed the opportunity for a great 'Arnold line'. In the scene where "Turtle Man" gives Arnold the "Reality" pill, where he say's "swallow it!".When Arnold saw the bead of sweat, he should've pointed the gun at him and said 'swallow this' before popping his noggin. Would've been up there with the best of them.
Total Recall also had the same Production Designer as Robocop, William Sandell, which I think accounts a lot for the similarity in look of the worlds.
We Can Remember It For You Wholesale was first attempted as an adaptation by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shushett, in the 70's. When they couldn't get funding, they focused on making a smaller film. Alien.
There have been several attempts to do a sequel to Total Recall. Verhoeven was going to direct at one point, then Jonathan 'Commander Riker' Frakes was. One attempt was to have incorporated Dick's short story, Minority Report (before the Spielberg film was made). The Pre Cogs would have been Mutants with Clairvoyant abilities.
Robert Costanzo, who would have made a good Mario, is one of those faces you just recognise from films of that era: Die Hard 2, City Slickers, Dick Tracy, and also an episode of Police Squad.
Along with Marshall Bell (George here, Twins, Starship Troopers).
Sharon Stone is coming back in another Martin Scorsese film (after Casino), which has been filmed and is currently untitled, also featuring Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep.
Micheal Ironside, who has unfairly been described as a cut-price Jack Nicholson, also played the villain in a film I'm sure Richard and Duncan will be doing a commentary for, Highlander 2: The Quickening.
I wanna say that it is set in 2084, though I can't recall if that was ever stated in the film.
Well You can't recall, but can You total recall?
Excellent podcasting my dudes funny as fuck love it 🤘
Hey guys awesome commentary. Please make more Arnold. Richard you have to convince Duncan to re watch the 6th day commentary or not. I have a soft spot for it too 👍
Legends 👊
43:39 - I have the game on Spectrum and it was pretty cool for its time, but I couldn't get very far on it.
14:26 LOL now, now, Duncan
Nah. Fuck him
oh man I forgot all about the Arnold soundboards
"GAHH! I'VE BEEN AMBUSHED BY DIRTY SHITTERS!"
Which proves it's real, cuz why would this be anyone's fantasy?
31:46
Lmao! Fucking hell, Duncan.
Great commentary, comrades.
Dude, tell us about the mate who dated Sharon Stone! Were white silk scarves involved? Does she take it in the tradesman? We need to know!
In the bits where you talked about Blu Ray showing up effects and wires, models etc, which we didn't have as a problem on VHS or DVD, wouldn't it have been visible during the cinema run, on 35mm? As that's higher quality than 4K. I'm genuinely curious about this. Ditto Blade Runner. Is the Blu Ray ver with it's exposed fakery that Richard saw, what cinema audiences would have seen?
I remember reading about how a 1930's film released on 4K BR revealed the actor's makeup which had never been seen before, but wouldn't that have been noticeable on cinema showings? Why wouldn't they have made an effort to conceal it?
Oooh. I think Richard dropped the ball there. So many Star Trek references, but didn't mention that the three breasted prostitute was the same actress as Ensign Sonya Gomez from Next Generation. Tsk tsk...Amazing commentary! 31:48 destroyed me!
Holy shit! Good catch!

1:08:10, light beer. You gotta go to different parts of the U.S. Here in the NW we know how to drink something other then Bud or Coors light.
On behalf of country I apologize for light beer. Although I am Irish ,and live in Texas so what's light beer 🍺
What's in the two week package?
See you at the party Ritcher.
Had the ZX Spectrum game of this, which was ok but I couldn't get very far with it. Had some nice chunky sprites though.
I had the spectrum game of the running man. I loved it at the time but I’m sure it was terrible.
@@rossross9281 I didn't even realize there was one! I had the Predator one which was utter shite.
Thewingkongexchange I didn't realise they were still releasing Spectrum games in 1990
I don't think I had Total Recall, but I had Ghostbusters, Batman and Robocop. Halcyon days🙂
Neil Hutchinson yeeeesss I remember ghostbusters on the spectrum. It was fucking awful. You’d spend hours on the map screen waiting for a ghost to appear. But it was fun at the time I guess 🤷♂️
7:10 Duncan, does your friends name rhyme with Bark Thrice? Blink once for yes, twice for no 😉
40.26 That ended me!!!!
To this day 31:36 still gets me howling with laughter.
Val Verde Commentary for RAW DEAL (1986) would be cool..
'Twins' would be my pick!

Arnolds holy trinity:t2, tr and predator
Did you guys ever watch Electric Dreams? It was shown on Channel 4 and Amazon. Anthology series based on PK Dick stories. Not every episode is a winner but if you like the messaging of Blade Runner and Total Recall it’s worth a watch.
Has anyone ever seen the Total Recall TV series?
David James No, never seen it. Looks like it’s available on DVD though. Any good?
@@ericc.petrie7572 No, I never saw it either. Just wondering if anyone had? It used to play on Bravo, but I never got round to it. I heard it was pretty good. Not sure what it's connection to Total Recall is, as none of the characters from the film are in it.
Marshall Bell, that's kind of like Sheriff Foreskin. Giggidy!
Excellent commentary, so funny in places, especially the porno pun talk at 1:23:56.
Flesh Gordon is a fun but loving tribute to the original Flash Gordon, which has special effects artists such as Rick Baker, & Star Trek’s Mike Minor.
I can’t believe there’s people not realising your 10 things about Expendables wasn’t a parody.
Did you ever get the feeling Jerry Goldsmith was heavily influenced by Basil Poledouris’ Conan the Barbarian?
In fact I’m surprised Basil didn’t sue him for plagiarism.
I think you should do more Phillip K Dick adaptations, especially Minority Report which was originally going to be a sequel to Total Recall.
Screamers would be a good one to do as well as Scanner Darkly.
Good sartorial detail trivia, Duncan 👌🏻
Was Superman 4 filmed in Milton Keynes?
Bryan Battista yes, I believe it was
It has been told.
I think that I watched documentary on the subject. I believe the presenter said that it was the best Superman film ever made😉
Brilliant stuff 👍
It was Oliver harper that dated Sharon stone. 🤫
Ross Ross SPOILERS: it wasn’t.
That was stoned Sharon
Thewingkongexchange it must have been brad Watson then
Are you sure it wasn't Sharon from Eastenders?
Neil Hutchinson it wasn’t Sharon or Tracey but apparently Oliver lost his virginity to Dorian
First Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation at 0:33... why waste time?...
There is a lot of references to Arnie's holy trinity of movies, is there an unholy trinity of Arnie movies?
He was in Red Sonja, so that could be counted as one.
The 2nd is his role as Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin
3rd movie could be Terminator Genisys
Or Terminator 3. Junior. I'd include Jingle All The Way, but it's hilarious in un-intended ways.
Jingle all the Way, Batman and Robin and Terminator Genysis
@@Thewingkongexchange Jingle all the way had a lot of goofy / funny moments and I think the guy who played mini me was in it, plus sinbad. Red Sonja was just bad. Also, Jingle all the way is a Christmas movie, and holiday movies are the type that make sense, to watch around that holiday.
