If it's cracking, doubt your bottle will explode. The pressue is just going to go out of the crack. Try getting metal ones. I'm not sure why your caps are cracking.
I was debating about getting a diy kit but I wondered if they really produced results, we have very hard water here 8.6 on last check so I really do think I could benefit from this if it works.
IMO the chances of the bottles exploding are very slim however you could run into the issue of CO2 overdosing especially with smaller tank set-ups if the overpressure goes undetected for some time. One thing though, if there is overpressure it would be better to relieve the pressure on the citric acid reactant bottle (A) since relieving it on the baking soda reactor bottle (B) will push more citric acid into it which will be generating even more CO2 gas.

Gotta fix the needle valve or get a new DIY contraption. It control the output of your Co2. If that doesn't work, the whole thing doesn't work. Did you screw in the dial too tight or something?
I don't know about exploding but the over pressure valve on my cheap DIY system failed and nearly suffocated my fish. Luckily I noticed with minutes to spare. I'll never use one of those again.
If you turn it off it should be fine, but if you leave it running it may build pressure. That sounds weird but as the co2 leaves bottle B it creates a lower pressure which draws in acid from bottle A which reacts forming more co2. If you let out 1 ml of co2 (measured outside) you will draw in 1ml of acid. But that acid will react to form more co2 than was let out (the volume of the acid can create a greater volume of co2 because gas is less dense however in this situation it is forced into a smaller space increasing the pressure). Given the quantities involved, it is very unlikely you would be able to get the pressure needed to destroy the bottle unless it had some defect. And, as stated in the video, the tubing would pop before the bottle.
I just fill mine daily with 2kg. I never keep the magnet ball inside the bottle. Ill use maybe 1kg in a day. I only do this on one tank so it’s not that much of a hassle.

Glad it helped.
How to turn this off though? And is it safe when it's off?
You just turn the needle valve to off. As I explained in this video, it'll equalize and won't produce any co2 with the valve it turned off.
Mines explode I mix too much had ants all over my house lol no more diy co2 for me got a real co2 way better
Nice! Well don't mix too much. That's never good.
i still dont get why i cant run this on my 75. Like a plants grow with just about no co2 why cant i just give them a little? Why is it run 30ppm or none? Like why cant i just build one of these diy setups and set it to one bubble a second?
Try it. No one is stopping you! It'll help, especially if you got good diffusion. Good luck!
@@TheWaterBox i think im going to build one then get the fluval passive diffuser thing and set the co2 at a bubble a second and put it under the passive thing and just see how it goes. I've already got BBA out the ass so why not.
Good luck!
The caps cracked or the bottle lit cracked. Always happen.
Interesting. Never had the problem
Could your explain about sugar mix with sugar? Because in my area it was difficult to find citric acid...
Best regards from Cambodia
I actually can't as I haven't done that in years. Google it for a recipe. There are ones out there that uses sugar and yeast combo.
My shit exploded today for the first time
😯
The only problem I ever had is; after awhile I had a bottle cap develop a stress crack.
Just change it out. or do you mean on the contraption? That is annoying but can happen. It's not be best high quality plastic they used on those things.
@@TheWaterBox The caps that come with the cheaper kits, like the one in your picture title "will they EXPLODE"
@@marcdilorenzo4909 Yeh, they aren't the best built contraptions.
Everytime you pluralised PSI, you hurt me just a little bit more.
Wait a minute, aren't you wargamers consortium?
Haha, yes I am. :)
@@TheWaterBox I watched a lot of your videos on badger airbrushes about a year ago when I needed 1, I now only really use Badger, even my H&S Infinity CR Plus which was my dream airbrush was a letdown in my eyes in comparison to my Omni 4000, I'm now trying to get into fish keeping with a 90L tank to start, I believe people in USA call it a 20gal high tank, I'm jumping more into deepend and trying to go planted from day 1 then after 4-8 weeks start adding my fish
Awesome! Lighting is something that you need to start to look at first before anything else. What kind of plants are you looking to grow?
@@TheWaterBox The light I've found is 24W 7500K LED unit, unfortunately I don't know a whole lot more about it, I'm trying to stick to a budget on this tank, if I don't enjoy fish keeping that much I haven't laid out a lot of money but if I do enjoy them then I've got more money for a bigger setup next year, as for plants thats something along with fish I'm stumped on, I'm not sure if I should decide on fish first then plants, or plants and then fish ?
@@Zillawill What size tank are we talking about? I always suggest going low tech with low light demanding plants. It's cheaper and won't make your head blow up. It'll get you the experience in what you need to do and learn how to grow plants and then you can jump into a larger and more complicated set up later. I'm making a very simple "jump into planted" tanks videos in the next week. This series should help you though: ua-cam.com/play/PLl7jTu1aWwVYalG6gOJ-2T9_V23kqo44_.html
I use none lol
Awe!
