Hi Emma, Just want to say I enjoy your videos. I'm a travel agent in the US, and getting first hand looks and opinions that aren't shined up by the cruiselines is invaluable! The subtleties like what the viewing area in a theater is like, what options there are on the menus, how much motion is felt on board... All helpful. I have absolutely applied these to how I book and hopefully that's had a positive impact on people's vacations. Keep it up and hope to see more ships!
I think using the lifeboats as tenders is a SUPER idea!!! ... When an emergency arises, the crew would be SO comfortable with getting everyone to safety as they use them fairly regularly. GREAT idea financially too, those things must be worth a fortune! .. Great multi-use feature!
@@connor1586 Half the people aren't on the boat either so they don't need as many. And I imagine they will be in communication with the ship and could come back to help if needed.
@@connor1586As someone else commented, there would be a reduced need, since passengers have used those lifeboats to get to shore. The other good thing, is that the ship is not underway, and is not too far out to sea. If there was an emergency, the remaining lifeboats should suffice ... and boats from shore should be able to get their fairly quickly to add in the evacuation.
Thank you Emma. I’m going on this ship in two weeks time. I’m travelling solo in a Studio Balcony room with obstructed view. It’s a four night cruise from Singapore to Penang and Phuket. I’m aware that the view could be good, to quite obstructed, but the price was very affordable and being on my own, I don’t think I’ll be in my room a great deal except for sleeping. Also, due to it being the tropics, I’m sure I won’t be sitting on the balcony alone for extended periods. The ship is huge, which is a first for me, and I’ll be busy doing many other things than worrying about the view. It is way more preferable to me to see the sky from my bed. So, Thankyou again…love your videos and adventures! Warm regards from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺
Only started watching your content a few weeks ago and now have pretty much caught up with everything already 😁 Now I am thinking about planning my first ever cruise as well! Thanks for the inspiration ☺
All those towel animals made me smile. I assume you did also when you saw them. Having the lifeboat there really doesn't seem like a major issue. It actually gave more privacy when seated out there. I'd have been more bothered by the bass thump from the club below
Not me. The cost to move up a deck was pretty small per day. To get a better view and a move away from club noise would have been well worth it. But that's just me.
Hi Emma, Im currently in Yucatan Mexico and the heat & humidity has been insane. Dripping w sweat just standing still - it was 47 C w humidex today. Even linen feels too heavy to wear. So i totally understand what you mean. Your cabin looked great and Im happy you got to do a bucket list cruise 😊
A good idea for balconies in cabins like this would be high seats with a tray attached, like an adapted lifeguard seat. Guests could sit with a drink & enjoy a better view.
What an amazing cruise! I had an obstructed balcony cabin on a past cruise & it was just a bit more than interior, so worth it. Your cabin was actually super nice!
I am just going to say it otherwise it will bug me. the "white metal parts" as you called them are called Davits. more specifically Gravity davits/ Gravity Multi pivot davits which are industry standard/Most common on cruise ships. @jameswg13 LOL hadn't read through to your post, but Emma's description just ground my gears somehow (only mildy mind) so I put a comment in too before I'd watched all the video.
Emma, I'm new to your videos since I just started getting interested in taking a cruise. And being from the U.S. I'm still trying to get used to your British accent. But it's become clear to me that your videos are very interesting and informative, and I like your style. You're so cute with how much you love Captain Hudson! Haha. I'm learning more and more from you, and I hope you have some tips and tricks videos to prepare me for what I need to do to book and enjoy a cruise. I'm becoming a fan and just subscribed! Thank you for the work you put into this for everyone watching!
We selected an obstructed view cabin for our June Alaska cruise, 4th floor, because the balconies are so expensive. Hopefully we have a view similar to what you experienced! Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
I love, love, love your channel. You've replaced Emmerdale as my favourite thing to watch on television! I now cast it from my tablet to a tv and it's as if I am watching something just as professional! TY for sharing your content and I learn so much from you and I listen carefully too!! Keep up the good work and I've subscribed x 😀🛳🛳🛳🚢⛵🚤🛥
Awwhh hahaha! I was always a Corrie watcher so I watched emmerdale half the time waiting for it, had to give it up though I couldn’t keep up. Thanks so much for watching and your kind words! I appreciate it 😀❤️
Hi emma I just wanted to tell you that I LOVE your content. You are the reason that I love cruising. Also you're editing and way of making video's that are so amazing.
Woohoo - delighted to see content from this cruise appearing! Totally agree that an inside cabin would be a waste on this trip, but it sounds like you did a good job with this one! 👏🏼

Ive been watchin your videos a lot even tho Ive never cruised, I really like em, theyre very easy to watch! Would love to do something similar as far as travel videos go, Im very inspired! Thanks Emma!
Thank you! I only booked an obstructed view once and had the full on lifeboat in my face for the entire cruise. I am now at a point in my cruising that I want smaller ships, interesting itineraries and a regular balcony. Thanks for the itinerary idea, it’s a good one…
@@Kai...999 Hardly. An obstructed view can tell me: time of day, weather, location, items of interest, and direction of travel. An inside cabin blocks all of that.
That looked like a great cruise. Are you doing more content on the trip, excursions, food, etc? Love your videos girl and your hair looks fabulous! Grows out so pretty ❤
Just got off the sister ship to this one (Ovation of the Seas) for an Alaskan Cruise. We were in a guaranteed balcony and were given the 7th floor also listed as obstructed. I remember wondering if the people the floor below us paid the same price. We had a mostly clear view but the lifeboats were still present in most of the pictures we took from the balcony. But definitely worth the price we paid 😄
Love it, cruises sound like a great adventure. It would be good to go to sea again, I miss that! Like I said I would want to be on a British, Italian or French flagged ship. Can't afford it right now but I always like planning trips I would do were I able to afford them 🙂

Great video! That cabin wasn’t too bad but I prefer to choose my own cabin as long as there are cabins above and below me. All the towel cats were so cute! I’m a cat person and always enjoy seeing Hudson in your videos. The itinerary looked interesting but that humidity in Vietnam looked horrible! Can’t wait to see where you’re going next.
I have stayed in obstructed view cabins. They are great to be able to get fresh air and a balcony. You only have to go up a floor to get on deck and a full view! For anyone who is a nervous traveller (nervous of high seas or sea sickness) I also think having the life boat between your cabin and the view is oddly comforting. I likes not having a clear view strangely enough. It's certainly better than a indoor or window cabin.
I see you are joining Arvia today sorry I am not working in Southampton today. Would love to say hello. Have a great time on Arvia. Many crew friends onboard will look after you
8:50 Hi Emma, we were onboard the very same sailing (as well as the next immediate cruise back to Singapore). The sailaway farewell Kumamoto drone and firework show by locals was a pleasant surprise, in addition to the arrival welcome drum show earlier in the day with their "captain uniform"-kumamon man-in-a-mascot-suit. We watched it from our portside facing balcony stateroom at Deck 8. The folks at the various Japanese ports were really friendly with their welcomes and farewells, do you get that from other ports from your other cruises? Hope you also enjoyed Singapore!

I get mostly casino cruises with free interior stateroom . I always upgrade to obstructed balcony for less than 200 dollars extra for 2. Never had a problem always able to see above lifeboats.
I would 100% take this cabin. How much time do you really spend on a balcony anyway when you’re on a big, exciting ship visiting exotic destinations? If the light bothers you, that’s what inside cabins are for, right? :)
What is it about soft-close drawers that makes us so happy? Maybe it's an unconscious stress we feel from the slamming of non-soft-close that were just so used to we never even notice it, but when we are missing it we become elated? 😁
5:23 "White metal parts that lower the life boats up (?) and down". @EmmaCruises They're correct nautical name is Davits. I'm not a cruiser, having only been on one but love your channel for all the advice and critique you offer.
The white metal arms that lower the lifeboats are called davits. I learned that term from watching 1997 titanic film. Architect/engineer/designer Andrews explained the lifeboat situation to Rose. It was foreshadowing.
Having a partial obstruction from a lifeboat is no big deal. I'd willingly do that. Balconies are great just to get the air. That promenade balcony situation is worse than an interior room.

Thank you! 😁❤️
WIll there be a full cruise video too? I'd love to see the Spectrum inside and all her facilities.
Yesss, port video coming next then the ship video 😀🥳❤️
I would 100% take this cabin. How much time do you really spend on a balcony anyway when you’re on a big, exciting ship visiting exotic destinations? If the light bothers you, that’s what inside cabins are for, right? :)
Yeah boi! ❤️
another winner video!
Thank you! 😁❤️
What is it about soft-close drawers that makes us so happy? Maybe it's an unconscious stress we feel from the slamming of non-soft-close that were just so used to we never even notice it, but when we are missing it we become elated? 😁
Can you make a video about the cruise experience/ and the perts
You look wonderful in all your cruise outfits !
We’ve jumped from Royal and trying MSC, Princess and Oceania. Royal seems far too expensive now. We’re Diamond plus too.
5:23 "White metal parts that lower the life boats up (?) and down". @EmmaCruises They're correct nautical name is Davits. I'm not a cruiser, having only been on one but love your channel for all the advice and critique you offer.
HI Emma, Could you please provide link for your lamp that you use om your inside cabin? Thanks.
EmmaCruises.com/lamp 😀❤️
We had an obstructed view with balcony doors but no balcony once. We still had a very nice view and it was well worth the cost savings.
Love it! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That's what's called a Juliet Balcony.
The white metal arms that lower the lifeboats are called davits. I learned that term from watching 1997 titanic film. Architect/engineer/designer Andrews explained the lifeboat situation to Rose. It was foreshadowing.
I really like the red-colored dress with the drapey sheer sleeves. ❤️
Thank you! 😁❤️ I feel like a fish with it 🤣🤣
Having a partial obstruction from a lifeboat is no big deal. I'd willingly do that. Balconies are great just to get the air. That promenade balcony situation is worse than an interior room.
Thanks for posting
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
So would you do it again and if so under what conditions. Or did you regret this choice.
Did I just see you in a NCL ad? Congrats!
Maybe!! Where was it? I wanna see!! Ha ha. I did work with them back in April. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
@@EmmaCruises It was either on FB or Insta, short clip. Pretty sure that's you on the drop slide and the VR ride!
