I’ve just disembarked a cruise on one of the most luxurious and expensive superyachts in the world where I saw and did things that I didn’t know could happen on cruises.
The ship was the Emerald Azzurra built in 2022 and the advertising promises that guests can “experience a billionaire lifestyle without the price tag”. I don’t know what a billionaires lifestyle is like, but this ship blew my mind. To say we had ups and downs, would be an understatement, literally.
For years I’ve cruised with the budget and mainstream cruise lines, usually in the cheapest inside cabins but a cruise on a yacht has of course, always been on my bucket list. When a friend who used to work for Emerald reached out and asked ‘Hey Emma, would you like to try a cruise on a yacht’ I didn’t have to think for a second. That isn’t the kinda question you delay on answering.
Before this cruise, I didn’t know what to expect. I’d heard great things about the included excursions and the watersports platform but even yacht cruises have 1 star reviews. I had no idea if I’d fit in on a cruise like this, I didn’t know what would be included and I wondered if I’d ever be able to go back to cruising in a cheap inside cabin after being on a yacht. Would it change me forever?
We flew from London to Athens to board this ship and our itinerary would take us around the greek islands, ending in Rhodes. The cruise was 7 nights long and it was over my dad's birthday so I decided to take him away to celebrate, this seemed like the best birthday present I could ever give, or so I hoped. I have no idea what I’ll get him next year to top this.

OK so first you have to make up your mind - can't go to a luxury yacht with a budget cruise mentality - ever 😃 Can't order a flatbread - it's disrespectful. Whole grain and quinoa everything, high end high style food - at all times. No burgers, fries or "Yorkshire pudding" (known as poopovers :-) Super healthy, super high, super style. Or just don't go and don't pay the price. Ask them and they'll make just about all food custom for you. Menu is advisory 😃 But you have to know what you want, at least roughly. Like "I'd like something with uni tomorrow - healthy and tasty, I'll leave details to the chef" 😃 Not kidding - the guy will break his back to show off. Just make sure you praise his work latter 😇
And you should have just taken that kitten - you are on a luxury yacht - it's normal to take home a few things. Don't ask for permission - just take it and have an excuse if anyone asks latter (they won't - you paid for a little extravaganza ) Your excuse for a kitten is that it's cute and it likes you and that's enough 😃😃

I feel the same! Emma’s videos make me so excited about cruising and when I can’t afford to go, I live vicariously through her and imagine I’m there too! Hopefully one day I can cruise often too but if not we always have UA-cam 😊

You mentioned the 'Aussie Burger', well here in Oz we call it a "Works Burger". It has the fired egg, beetroot, pineapple, tomato, lettuce, onions, meat patty and bacon with BBQ sauce! It's a must ;-)

I'm an American who's had the Aussie "Works Burger" during my vacation in Sydney. 🍔 I never dreamed that beets on a burger could taste so good. 😋 Here in the states, we can get a fried egg on a burger, but there's no comparison. 😢

Had one with the lot from my local fish shop last night.. had the best caramelized fried onion on it. Way better than a chain store 🍔
In the US, a "cot" is a folding bed that is usually used in camping.

American here! It's pretty common here to either have a burger topped with a fried egg available at restaurants (sometimes called a breakfast burger or hangover burger on the menu) or have the option to add a fried egg to a burger for an additional charge. I've never seen it referred to as Australian style, though.

They've been popular in the US for at least 40 years. Yes, you do have to appreciate the runny yolk.

A runny yolk is pretty good but even better? Over medium imo. You get a smooth, gel like yolk but it's not as messy as an over easy or sunny side up egg added to a burger.

I can’t believe a drinks package is an extra cost on yacht trip that expensive! Emma, you should look into going on a small yacht charter with your family and or friends, where everything is included and you are the only guests.

I love a fried egg on a burger. Here in the US, that's called a farm style or in some cases, a royal style burger. From what I've heard, it may be somewhat regional within the US. Whatever it is, it is good. When that egg is cooked perfectly so that there is just enough yolk to run out and soak into the burger and bun, but not so much that it all runs out onto the plate, it is just amazing.

I was introduced to the fried egg on a burger at Red Robin in Indiana. I think they call it the Royal Red Burger or something like that. It was yummy indeed. Jeff’s description of the yolk is perfect.
In Australia more likely to get beetroot on hamburger, steak sandwich, but get one with the lot and egg will also be on it, with cheese and sometimes cooked onion.
Oh my! The kittens are so lovely, I I also would have wanted to take them home. I probably would’ve gotten in trouble because I would’ve tried to smuggle them aboard.😻

An Aussie burger always has red meat, egg, pineapple n beetroot.
Bacon, lettuces, cheese, tomato, onion (typically fried) sauces are all optional.
Get everything, it's called a Burger with the Works.

Great Video. Nice to see how more fortunate people get to travel. Egg on Burgers is definately a thing here in Australia, although be an Aussie burger, it would also need a slice beetroot. So a true blue aussie burger would be, a beef pattie, cheese, onion, egg and beetroot. Oh and tomato sause

The fried egg on a burger was a common menu item in Kona, Hawaii (on the big island). So jealous you were able to cruise on a yacht. Only in my dreams...

Originally a crib was a place where corn cobs were stored, and then became what a baby bed was called. Using it as slang for your place was a 90's/2000's slang term, which is what you referred to. But it described a baby bed long before it meant your pad/place... lol😂
Aussie here. A typical hamburger here has meat patty, onions, tomato, lettuce, cheese, beetroot, bacon and an egg. Plus you can usually add pineapple too. So traditional burgers here are usually very filling and delicious. And that’s the reason why when MacDonalds first came to Australia, their burgers weren’t very well received.
Hi Emma, I love your videos. It is common to find an egg on your burger. Another ingredient that is common on Australian burgers is tinned beetroot.
Australian here. Yes, we do sometimes put egg burgers. Usually sunny side up. It isn't standard though and often have to pay extra for an egg unless it's on there by default

I would love everything about the cruise except for the size. Looks a lot like an Emerald river cruise boat just as a yatch. We were in bad weather for a recent cruise on a mid-sized cruise ship and I could feel the difference compared to the huge ones.
It was similar yeah, like a river ship but stretched up 😂

In OZ it is quite common to add extras to hamburgers such as egg, cheese, pineapple. But all good burgers come with beetroot which is a real aussie favourite.

Looks like some of their cruises are competitive with Oceania. It looks wonderful, I will definitely look at them for a future trip. Normally I like a balcony but on such a small ship with so much deck space I think we would be content with an ocean view.

Really great video, Emma! I've always been curious about yacht cruising. And I'm not sure if the fried egg on the burger is an australian thing, but it definetely is a brazilian thing! Almost every burger place here has the option to add a fried egg on top and it's many people's favorite (not mine though haha)
