Today I'm sharing 20 lazy girl cleaning habits for a clean and tidy home! I have a record player and 2 kids. I hate to clean because I feel like I am the only one doing it. So now I make my kids take turns to pick out a record I tell them they are all going to help and once the music stops we’re done. And it’s amazing how much we all can get done in 15min.
I recently got a record player as well and became suddenly aware of how much DUST is everywhere in my apartment. Now I’m obsessed with cleaning daily so no dust gets into the turntable and my precious records 😂
I'm Russian 😊 I live in Germany, have two small daughters and I want my home to be clean) also my kids are my motivation - I was raised not in a very tidy house so to say, so I don't have all the hacks as habits, I need to find them myself 😅
I have a bilevel home so when you walk in my front door, you can see the dust under the couch so I wrapped a pool noodle with the same color as my leather couch and put it underneath. It looks perfect.
Since moving into our retirement house, which meant downsizing, I don’t have room in our two bathrooms to store the cleaning supplies……I solved this problem by making myself a cleaning cart. I bought a cheap, plastic, rolling cart that I put ALL my cleaning supplies on. That way I can roll my little cart to whatever room I’m cleaning and then store my cart in a coat closet when I’m finished. Cleaning supplies no longer take up valuable real estate in my bathroom cabinets or under my sink in the kitchen. 😎
So many great tips here 🌸 Allow me to add one: If you have young children, BEGIN NOW. Begin including them in various cleaning and tidying routines, even if you’re only giving them a baby wipe to clean with. Do not wait til those toddlers go down for a nap and then do the cleaning. Make cleaning a part of your time with them. I say, “ begin now” because tomorrow will be TOO LATE! There is a window of opportunity in which toddlers want to help their parents. If you make the mistake I did, and do not take advantage of that, you will have kids who expect you to do EVERYTHING for the rest of your life. You become nothing but a domestic servant/teller machine to them. Teach them now that keeping the house presentable is everyone’s responsibility. I hope I’ve helped someone with this 🍀
When my kids were little, I started them all with one daily (or weekly) chore. For example, one kid would be responsible for emptying the garbage cans in every room so the garbage would be collected and ready for my husband to take out on garbage day. Another kid would be responsible for scooping up (daily) cat poop in each litter box in our house. Another kid would be responsible for collecting laundry from each bedroom and sorting it in prep for me to do the wash.
I thought I was the only one that cleaned the bathroom sinks with bare hands & hand soap! Haha I also use a towel to clean the bathroom before laundry day. I also clean the showers while I'm in it. One thing I never thought to do was 1,2,3 myself! Good one. Also, keeping cleaning supplies in each room. Brilliant 👏 But I do keep clean sheets in each room in a plastic shoe storage container in each closet instead of a central linen closet. Thanks for the "work smarter not harder" tips!
Having ADD and depression, yes I do follow this. The 3-2-1 method is something new and I'm going to give it a try. Thank you. I'm glad I found this video
I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I have to say that you could have been my daughter! I’m 68 years old and after I retired I started cleaning homes. I’ve seen all the homes you described. Your advice is spot on and practical. I use most of the tips you suggested. The one thing I do is after showering I take the towel I’ve used and wipe down the entire shower/tub with it. It saves so much time and energy from having to scrub it. And yes, I clean mine while showering. Call it lazy if you will but practical is what I call it. You’re great. Keep up the good work 😊
If you do decide to clean the shower while you’re in it, use a natural cleaner such as vinegar, water, and dish soap mix. Heating up chemicals while you’re physically in the shower with them, can be quite dangerous to ingest.
I agree. I have a cordless dyson vac mounted on a wall on each floor. Really handy for quick clean up jobs when I'm on a particular floor as I don't have to run to other floors to grab the vac.
So many great tips!I’m glad you said no to drain cleaners. I haven’t used them but was thinking of trying them. I sometimes clean the shower while I’m in it too, but what I always do at the end of my shower is use cold water only and rinse everything down, I haven’t seen any mold since. Another tip to go with your oven rack cleaning is put them in a heavy plastic bag like for yard waste, and spray with a foamy cleaner, leave several hours.
Yes! Switching my family to body wash instead of bar soap has made a HUGE difference in shower/tub cleaning...it also helps our drains run better because soap scum isn't building up in them. I also clean the sink(s) while I'm washing my hands, I've been doing it for a few years. I dry dust the bathrooms a few times a week (with hand towels as I switch out dirty to clean ones), too which makes it easier to wet clean surfaces. I have a "roomba" style vacuum that we run once or twice a day and I have a cordless stick vacuum to get the areas the robot misses. Shoes off at the door is also a habit we use, but it's mostly because our cats get under our feet and we're less likely to step on them hard if we can feel them under "naked" feet. But not dragging outside dirt inside is a definite bonus!
I would love to be on board with this, because soap scum is not pretty, but neither is the plastic packaging waste that comes with liquid soap. I have to vote paper-wrapped or wrapper-free bar soap.
Ahhh so true! I have so many things in my life that I am trying to figure out the trade offs. I even switched from dishwasher pods to liquid detergent (because of the microplastics) but then there's the large plastic bottle! @@kayo5291
Love these! A great one I do now is, if I just wiped down the counters, I use the same wet wash cloth to spot mop anything on the kitchen (or other nearby) floor. I've started calling these things "light cleaning", as it's not such a big deal in my mind, and I don't put things off until I can "perfectly" deep clean it later. Better for me is a little done regularly. I can still deep clean, but when I do it will be less work for all the light cleaning I did first. I'm looking forward to trying several of these ideas you shared! Thanks, Taryn!
I have a stainless steel oval can in my kitchen that is easy to clean, but in between I'll drop paper towels into the bottom and about 1/4 cup of baking soda shaken on top (from the fridge box). Really helps keep the smells down, and also lets me know when to replace the fridge baking soda box 😄
I have specific laundry days too, it keeps the process going, not too much at once. I hang most of our clothes on the spare bathroom shower rack, no wrinkles, dries fast and ready to just hang up. I will load clothes the night before, and when i get up and start the wash. While I’m waking up and drinking coffee a daily task has started. We also take our shoes off, people thought us odd, but it does keep the house clean. Especially the carpet on the stairs, we’re behind other countries where most of the people take off their shoes.
So funny that people thought you were odd for removing your shoes! I grew up taking mine off so it was definitely surprising to me that not everyone does :)
Thanks for all your tips in every video, some is news for me! I wash the bath corner and the shower items I can reach, when I shower and wash my hair. It's a nice way to let the conditioner work etc. And the glas doors is easier to maintain in the long run! Of course I do not spray with salammoniac, clor or vinegar products doing this.
Great tips! I do already do a few of them I keep bathroom wipes to clean down everything and the dish sponge fillable thingy in the shower…they changed my life!
I have exfoliating cotton facial rounds that I use to wash my face in the before bed and first thing. I switch between the master bath and hall bath, and when I'm done with my face I flip the round over and use the other side to wipe down the faucet, counter and sink.
I try to clean one thing when I go into a room. Something that takes 15 seconds or less. In the bathroom -clean the toilet bowl, wipe the rim and under the seat, or wipe the mirror and sink faucet. In the kitchen wipe the counters with a small microfiber cloth soaked with some alcohol I keep in a lidded jar or wash the window on the back door. The little things add up and keep the rooms presentable.
Once a week, I pour some bleach into the toilet in every bathroom and quickly wipe down the seat, lid, etc with a Clorox wet wipe. Takes just a few minutes and the toilet bowls don't get those rim stains and smell fresh all the time.
I used to do my laundry everyday and it became a bit overwhelming as it was hard getting clothes dry so now I stick to two days a week, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. I find I'm keeping on top of my laundry routine a lot better. Thank you for your great cleaning tips
I have things pulled out from the walls. Ran the vacuum, then sprinkled baking soda on the carpet to refresh and noticed my walls need wiped down.😒 I cleaned houses for years, and I know a lot of cleaning hacks. I like hearing yours. 👍
Taryn, Thank you!!! The tips in this video are great and I am living proof. But also, the subtitles in your videos are wonderful! I have 4 rambunctious kids and your subtitles let me follow along without necessarily hearing everything over their bubbly excited voices.😄
😅Use dishwasher cleaner to soak oven racks, vases and pitchers with films, odors. I use severall dishwasher pods in hot water in the tub, add oven racks and baking sheets, leave overnight...wipe, rinse, done.
Many thanks for sharing these amazing time saving methods. i’m 75 now & every thing is so precious to me to get get things done. i’m a hoarder too have you any advice about letting go please. diane from bethnal green london uk 👵👵👵👵
Shoes off at the door has never worked for us because the guys wear lace up boots for work and are always in and out (plus we have big dogs and a doggy door, so moot point for our home, lol.) BUT, if you have kids that are always running in and out, that's a great rule to minimize that. If they have take their shoes off and put them back on each time, they will likely just opt to stay in or out. I need to find one of those microwave dish covers! I use sanitizing wipes for the toilet, but spritz the sink and counters with a vinegar mix and wipe it down with the used hand towel each day. Great tips, thanks!
Put a bench or chair where they can sit and remove shoes. Have indoor and outdoor shoes. I buy a pair of sneakers one size too large so they slip on for walking dog. They are extremely cheap and very comfortable.
I did almost all of it. But I got to the point I was so tired 😩 of cleaning instead of relaxing under the shower or cleaning instead of being present whilr talking to someone. Now I clean every evening for 15 minutes and 1-2 hours every weekend. The key is: 1. a good microfiber cloth, 2. a cleaning robot, 3. everything has "a home" and everyone puts things back or throws it if its garbage 4. get rid of things that are not being used any more 😊
Love it ! Your so real & a lot of influencers aren’t . I want to do the oven rack cleaning like that but my jetted tub is super deep . I guess I could put an old towel in the other tub 😊 thank you !
Thank you! And oh my gosh, I have the best product to recommend for oven cleaning. Seriously - the best and it's all natural (I don't like using chemicals in the oven around food) - it's the Scrub Daddy Power Paste. I loved it so much I did a whole oven cleaning video about it! ua-cam.com/video/SFLBzJlnKB0/v-deo.html
Washer: soap to the normal line then top with white vinegar to the max line, then a good splash in the softener spot. Clothes are fresh and it keep the washer cleaner. Every load. The clothes are so freakin soft once the buildup eventually gets stripped from the fabrics. The vinegar will accomplish this over time or you can strip them in the tub with hot water and vinegar. Highly recommend: strip your towels, you'll see.
I use a squeegee then a microfiber cloth to wipe down my shower that has white subway tile. I do a heavy duty clean every couple of weeks but wiping it down after every shower prevents mineral build up and I can use any kind of soap
I use Tide Powder w/Dawn to clean my oven racks. My kitchen sink is big enough to hold them so I just fill it up with HOT water, Tide powder, and a little dawn and soak them until the water is cool enough to remove the drain. Works like a charm. I break apart my cardboard boxes and add those to the bottom of my trash can. Sometimes I'll add a few drops of essential oil. When they need to be changed, I just throw them in my compost pile. Works great. I love my cordless vacuum. I vacuum EVERY day and it's so much easier with a cordless vacuum. Another great tip that I've gotten in the habit of doing is never leaving a room empty-handed.
These are very Smart tips. I myself use many of them im my home. ..But..probably about 15 years ago i got rid of my microvawe. I decided i want a healthy family and better, helthier food. First IT was difficult, because IT was a habbit .Many people these days dont take in consideration that even if u preper very healthy food and stick IT under the waves..u kill actually all nutritions, vitamins and good stuff that's inside. Do we even remember how to coock normally? Just a thing to be aware of. Greets from Pl ❤🎉
So many easy cleaning hacks here! I use many of these now and the ones I haven’t used I’ll be trying throughout the next few days. Enjoyed watching the video. Thanks!
The 123 habit is great if you don't want to get up and get going!😂 I agree soap leaves a scum but you should use soap on occasion, too, to feel cleaner.
I use a pillowcase to clean the blades of our ceiling fans. Slip it on each blade and pull to wipe off the dust and all the debris stay inside the pillowcase. Also, I wear 2 old socks like gloves and dust the house that way. Spin the socks around to use the upper top when the bottom parts are done.
My husband will not use liquid soap, he tried it hates it at 75 years old can’t change or should I say won’t change ,I’m 74 and I clean the shower everyday when I shower it works for us , just found your videos love them .
I also use soapy hands and shower time to clean those fixtures. My other bathroom-cleaning trick is to only buy white toothpaste (my sinks are white porcelain). Tooth-brushing residue will be less visible between sink scrubbings.
The Splatter Protector is a Godsend. It prevents all kinds of mess going around the Microwave. Also there's Dawn Liquid and Cleaning Vinegar that does alot for taps and faucets.
Good tips! An addendum to cleaning the shower while you're in it: avoid slippery cleaners due to the risk of falling. Breaking a bone will not speed up your cleaning. Microfiber and a squeegee work great.
Thanks for ideas to make cleaning quicker. Please don't use used bath towels to wipe surfaces down though, they harbor bacteria from skin cells and make up.
We have the same vacuum obsession ha. I keep my corded shark vacuum upstairs and pull it out once a week for a full very good vacuum day. Otherwise I use my cordless on a daily basis…so much easier.
Hab schon mal meine Duschkabine und die Fliesen vor dem Duschen eingesprüht. Aber es hat mir nicht gefallen, die Dämpfe vom Putzmittel sind nicht gesund. Lieber das Putzen vom Duschen trennen!
For your stove the BEST thing to use is Oven cleaner spray EASYOFF it’s magical. Suggest to warm oven to like 100• then turn off and spray EASYOFF and let it sit half hour and the wire off .. rinse and done!!!!!
I do a game like "I have to make my bed before the song ends or else I die" 😂😂😂 to avoid procrastination on things that doesn't require much concentration
For the organic waste, I have a couple of plastic containers in the freezer with a compostable bag on each one and, basically, I keep my organic waste in the freezer until it's time to get it collected. No leakage, no bad smell, no broken bag disasters, no attracting flies... the only thing is that you need to have a freezer that's big enough for both the containers and actual frozen food.
My mom had a designated laundry day. Wednesday. Only day shed do it. I do the shower while im in it it! Keep my basket near thè shampoo stuff. Done? Spritz down the stall rinse while you rinse yourself
*The Plumber's friends:* BAR soap and POWDERED clothes and dish washing soaps. ALL clog the pipes over time WITH BUILD-UP RESIDUE. Unless you LOVE PAYING your plumber, *ONLY use the liquid varieties!*

Fantastic 😻.
Our home was horribly dusty. My husband checked the HVAC fan and it was on medium, so he switched it to high and it helped a lot.
You're the UA-camr that actually gives good advice 😂 I'm glad I found you 😊
Ahh thank you so much!! Also, noticed your name - are you Bulgarian? My husband is Bulgarian 😊

Keep a nail brush by sink and use it to clean sink. Easily removes soap scum, shines faucet. Use small straw cleaning brush to clean hair from drain
Great ideas!
I did almost all of it. But I got to the point I was so tired 😩 of cleaning instead of relaxing under the shower or cleaning instead of being present whilr talking to someone.
Now I clean every evening for 15 minutes and 1-2 hours every weekend.
The key is:
1. a good microfiber cloth,
2. a cleaning robot,
3. everything has "a home" and everyone puts things back or throws it if its garbage
4. get rid of things that are not being used any more
😊
Oh no, so glad you modified it to something that works for you! Thank you for sharing!!!
Love it ! Your so real & a lot of influencers aren’t . I want to do the oven rack cleaning like that but my jetted tub is super deep . I guess I could put an old towel in the other tub 😊 thank you !
Ahh thank you so much, Laura! Good luck with the oven racks!
Thx for these great ideas! I LOVE them 😘
You are so welcome!
Great tips. Nice to see a smaller older house kitchen in the video... Closer to mine. I could use more oven cleaning advice in a future video.
I agree. It’s the best and so easy to use. My daughter even used it to clean the oven last week.
So agree with you on the shower cleaning😂I started doing the same years ago😂❤
Love it!!
Cool, thanks for that tip!!
These tips gained my subscription ❤
Yay - welcome and thank you! ❤️
I use a squeegee then a microfiber cloth to wipe down my shower that has white subway tile. I do a heavy duty clean every couple of weeks but wiping it down after every shower prevents mineral build up and I can use any kind of soap
For sure! And I love subway tile!
Love the speed of this video- u r perfect!!!
@@archerhunter8691 Thank you so much! 😊
Awesome, thank you for sharing! It's also amazing that you have a compost pile!
Thank you so much for sharing, something to think about! ❤️
We also stopped using a microwave years ago. Food tastes so much better and you are spot on more nutrients too!
YES to liquid soap over bar soap! It's incredible the amount of residue was sticking to my shower/bath from a bar of Dove.
It really is!!
So many easy cleaning hacks here! I use many of these now and the ones I haven’t used I’ll be trying throughout the next few days. Enjoyed watching the video. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Deb!!
Thanks Taryn Great ideas
You are so welcome, Deborah!
Excellent tips. Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome!
Wow! First time I've viewed your channel and I really enjoyed this video. I love the tip about the body wash. Happy New Year!
Thank you so much, Fran! Happy New Year to you!!
Just found you,& in love. I also using liquid soap but add vinegar and if you get the chance to heat up in microwave..even better
Awesome, thank you so much for sharing!!
The 123 habit is great if you don't want to get up and get going!😂
I agree soap leaves a scum but you should use soap on occasion, too, to feel cleaner.
Thanks for sharing!!
Love it, thank you for sharing!
what about mopping figure 8, instead of pushing the dirt back and forth? i love your videos. ty
Thank you!!
love these hacks
Thank you so much!
Your tips were super helpful. I enjoyed your video immensely 😊.
I'm so glad! Thank you 😊
My husband will not use liquid soap, he tried it hates it at 75 years old can’t change or should I say won’t change ,I’m 74 and I clean the shower everyday when I shower it works for us , just found your videos love them .
Awesome, I'm so glad you're here!
I also use soapy hands and shower time to clean those fixtures. My other bathroom-cleaning trick is to only buy white toothpaste (my sinks are white porcelain). Tooth-brushing residue will be less visible between sink scrubbings.
Great tip! Thank you!
The Splatter Protector is a Godsend. It prevents all kinds of mess going around the Microwave. Also there's Dawn Liquid and Cleaning Vinegar that does alot for taps and faucets.
Thanks for sharing!
wow..I do most of those myself. I really thought I was alone in my lazy weirdness LOL
Ha, nope - not alone, love it!
Good tips! An addendum to cleaning the shower while you're in it: avoid slippery cleaners due to the risk of falling. Breaking a bone will not speed up your cleaning. Microfiber and a squeegee work great.
Yes, great reminder, Ann! Thank you!
Thank you for the captions❤
You are welcome!! ❤
Washing the shower while in it is the most effective way. When I was a housekeeper, I secretly wished I could just get in there and go to town. Lol
Haha, for sure!!
Thank you great tips
You are so welcome!
Absolutely useful ❤❤
Love it
Thank you so much! ☺❤
3-2-1 method works great for getting up in the morning :D
Perfect!
New sub here, I loved this video! I love me some cleaning and decluttering tips, so I can't wait to see what else you put out! ❤
Yay, welcome and thank you so much! ❤
I’m a lazy cow and totally fine with that.
Ha! Then this video is for you 😊
I clean the shower while I’m in it too.
I use Dawn power wash so I don’t care if it gets on my feet
Great idea! I make my own cleaner with water, liquid soap and vinegar but I love Dawn powerwash!!
Oh wow I do so many of these things, love your videos :)
Ahhh thank you so much!!
New subscriber. Just found your channel, excellent, useful information.
Awesome, welcome - I am so glad you are here!
I do wash shower before or showering
Speaking about vacuum cleaner - I enjoy my robot vacuum cleaner )) Haven't used vacuum cleaner almost 4 or 5 years.
Yes, love mine too! He's busy at our house for sure :)
Thanks for ideas to make cleaning quicker. Please don't use used bath towels to wipe surfaces down though, they harbor bacteria from skin cells and make up.
Thanks for the tip!
Great tips
Thank you!!
We have the same vacuum obsession ha. I keep my corded shark vacuum upstairs and pull it out once a week for a full very good vacuum day. Otherwise I use my cordless on a daily basis…so much easier.
Ha, I love it! The cordless makes it so easy!
love my cordless for in-between the big vacuum however I have a corded Dyson on both floors. So no lugging it up and down the stairs..
much thanks
I love your ideas & presentation style. Very easy to digest.😊
Thank you so much, Elizabeth! ☺
Thank you so much!!! Great tips!!!
Thank you for sharing that!!
These are excellent tips!
Thank you so much!
A lot of things, i do, the same. In the shower. Logical to me, while you in the there, to clean it. Good tips. Thanks.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing! 😊
Thinking about getting those robot mop vacuums i hate doing the floors! Thoughts?
Those look so good but I haven't tried one yet! I have a mix of area rugs and wood so I wonder how it would work. If I get one I will update you!
So many efficient ideas! 💡
Thank you so much!!
I do almost all of these hacks already! Whoohoo! 🤣
Love it!
I do a game like "I have to make my bed before the song ends or else I die" 😂😂😂 to avoid procrastination on things that doesn't require much concentration
Haha too funny!!!
My favorite random thing to wash in the dishwasher is plastic clothes hangers 🤪
Ha, hadn’t thought of that!!
My mom does that too!
Thanks! Needed that!❤
You’re welcome! ❤️
Very useful
Thank you!
Squeegee your shower when you’re done. Takes seconds, and keeps the scum to a minimum.
Thank you for sharing!!
I put my silk flowers in the dishwasher and give them a gentle shake to dry them!
What a great idea!
My mom had a designated laundry day. Wednesday. Only day shed do it.
I do the shower while im in it it! Keep my basket near thè shampoo stuff. Done? Spritz down the stall rinse while you rinse yourself
That is awesome!
well ihave a steam mop for my hardwood floors it does the job great
Thank you, Sharon!
*The Plumber's friends:* BAR soap and POWDERED clothes and dish washing soaps. ALL clog the pipes over time WITH BUILD-UP RESIDUE.
Unless you LOVE PAYING your plumber, *ONLY use the liquid varieties!*
