For sure the mini tasks when a bit of down time is key to a tidy house. Do not leave a room without taking something with you to put away. I lessened my flat surfaces throughout the home to one per room. Eliminate coffee tables, side tables etc. When there is no place to lay things, you put them away! Thank you for your reasonable approach to home life.
Since i moved into my own apartment and i now live alone i choose to do an entire home clean on the Friday i get paid. This usually onky takes me 40 minutes because my apartment is 750 sqft and during the week i don't clean i make sure to do what i call spot cleaning where i clean something that gets dirty right away like dishes and the toilet. Another thing that can cause clutter is mail if you don't open it and throw it out right away. I make sure to do that. My apartment is very clean and clutter free during the work week.
I work 3 days a week. I dont get much done on those days. My priorities are cat box, kitchen, laundry, a quick trip over the bathroom and take out trash. Im weird, i dont like dusting. Its my least favorite chore. So my off days i do a full house cleaning. One thing that helps me is making the bed every day. Clutter is my enemy! feel more in control if my house is completely clutter free. Also, dont go to bed with dishes in the sink. I did a Swedish death cleaning is 2023. I really feel it helped me on so many levels. My shopping habits have changed. I also built a pantry. It really helps me not overspend. I didnt realize how many duplicates of beauty products and papet products. I have also stopped buying single use items. I have 2 cloth mop heads. I have on multipurpose cleaner like you. I have cleaning rags made from old towels. And no more water bottles! Great video! I should get a bigger trashcan!
Awesome video idea! I used to dread my days off because I liked working more than housework. Since being out of the workplace, I've learned that there are certain basics that should be done daily (like the dishes, spot cleaning, and putting things away) and that tasks can be spread out over several days for areas you want to clean weekly like the bathroom instead of taking a huge chunk of time to clean all at once.
I've trained my brain to tidy up whenever I'm on the phone chatting with my friends. I don't out on what's going on with them but I also end up with something to show for my time too and I actually enjoyed that time cleaning because I was more focused on my friends and less on the chore.
I tend to do this too if I'm chatting at home instead of sitting on the sofa doing nothing. Just yesterday whilst talking to my mum, I quickly swept the floor I'd vacuumed the previous day and mopped the house. The time flew because my mum was keeping me entertained and I accomplished something at the same time. I think she was also gardening
You can get a lot done in just a few minutes and every step forward is progress. I usually do a bit of washing up while I'm waiting for the kettle, for the pancake to cook before I have to turn it over. or when the microwave is on. even if I don't get everything done, it's better to get a little done than nothing.
My new year resolution is to implement tiny habits. One of them is: cleaning kitchen when putting on kettle to boil, second is to tidy my office for 30s every time I get there. It is unbelievable how much you can tidy in such a short time. And also when I start for 30s i often naturalny do it for a little longer so in January my kitchen and my office became more tidy indeed
I love your tips and the energy that comes across! - I've actually gone the opposite way regarding kitchen bins: very small ones with no lid to make us empty it every day. There's thee main reasons for this: 1. Bin lids are a pain to clean, and they will get gross very quickly. Then you also have small kids touching and licking it. Yuck! A small office bin is really easy to rinse out in the sink. 2. It's so much easier to throw things in a rectangular bin without a lid, especially scraping things off of trays and chopping boards. 3. I want to avoid the smell, and attracting pests. (I realise that's the purpose of the lid, but see points 1& 2.) - But yes, it doesn't look good, so I keep thinking how I could make it more attractive. I could possibly put them in a crate of some sort that is taller than the bins. I crate with wheels to make it easier to clean around! Yes, I think I might have just found the solution! 🙂
My mom was a cleaning lady for a living and she had a very hard time being motivated when I was young to clean the house but when I got older I did the house cleaning for her 😊
Agreed! Spot on! Delegating is the key. I homeschooled 3 kids K-12, which is a full time job because you can't clean while teaching reading, math, science, history, on weekdays and driving them them around to various activities several times a week. I trained mine from ages 4-5 along side me while I cleaned teaching them how to do it. This is not play and bonding time-do that after chores. Then at 6 they were able to clean independently. We had a cleaning schedule for after school that took into account activities. It usually meant an hour a day weekly chores (vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, etc.) on non-activity days. I had a reusable task checklist for big jobs with many smaller tasks like cleaning bathrooms: mirrors, counters, tub, toilet, floor. It was in a plastic page protector and with a wet erase marker to mark off as they went along, that way they knew what my expectations were. Then we did daily stuff every day like unloading the dishwasher (put your most frequently used dishes in the LOWER cabinets so your young children can unload them at very young ages.) Buy a canister or stick vacuum and a spray mop or steamers so they can handle them at a young ages. Everyone in my house did their own laundry (bedding and clothing) starting at age 8, a very typical thing in the homeschool community of GenX parents. We bought a step stool so they could reach the bottom of the top loading washer. They each had an assigned laundry day. They also used that step stool to clean bathroom mirrors and dust higher shelves. We divided daily and weekly household chores between the kids and me (husband worked from home and did all outside chores) and rotated the names every month. Don't let your kids only do chores they prefer-that's not the real world. A daily tidy after dinner is a huge help-put your stuff back where it goes regularly and it doesn't pile up every often. And we had consequences ready to go in keeping with our parenting philosophy as enforcement. You get what you inspect and enforce. Consistency is a parental responsibility, cooperation in contributing to the household is everyone's responsibility. Then teach them to cook meals by age 13. They can contribute cooking a meal once a week as teens.
Thank you very much for this video. Very motivating. The flat surface being covered is really an issue in my home. Every single time there’s a new flat surface I feel some hope. It looks so nice and can be used for many things, like folding laundry or working on the bills, or for any one of us to use our computers on. So many options! But NO. Every single time, that flat surface becomes covered with clutter. It’s now unusable and extremely hard to clean. It is so frustrating.😟
I feel your pain! Sometimes I try to put a large vase or something in the middle of my flat surfaces - just to deter people from putting things there. It works sometimes! :)
I love how you make your own cleaner and use it for everything. I do this too, however, I use isopropyl alcohol instead of vinegar(I uses a half and half ratio w the water). It works just as well and disinfects but it wont eat away at your countertop sealer. If you use anything acidic to clean the counter tops, it will wear that down over time. I learned this cleaning tip from a company that installs granite and other stone counter tops, he said thats the best thing you can use for your sealed granite etc that wont ruin the sealer and will still disinfect.
Everyone who lives in a home should take care of their home regardless of age and/or gender. A little cleaning each day is better than dedicating a day each weekend to clean.
I work as a cleaning lady 7 nights a week 5pm-10pm) and never feel like cleaning at home. I’m so burnt out of cleaning. I wish I got paid enough as a cleaning lady to afford a cleaning lady 😂😂
Thank you for this video!! I feel like so many cleaning videos cater to people who do not work full time😳 Both my husband and I work full time and have 2 young kids and cannot afford to pay for a maid or cleaning service so everything has to be done by us alone
Good deal; everyone should help out when they can. I started vacuuming when I was around three-years old, because I have loved vacuums since I was an infant. I like your steam cleaner. I have one, but it's not as nice as yours.
It's actually pretty easy to take one Sunday every 2 or 3 weeks to do it I've been doing this since 2020. I was a slob before that. This weekend I blew myself away. Yesterday I cleaned out my car, armor all vacuum and then went and tried the KFC Festive Chicken Sandwich. It was delicious and managed a work out. Then today In cleaned, dusted, sanitized vacuumed the livingroom, kitchen and bathroom, worked out again and managed to shave and clean myself up for the start of the work week. It isn't difficult to sacrifice every second or third Sunday to clean and tidy up. I can't love in a disaster zone.
I have some thoughts: 1. "If you've got boys and girls equally teach them to do these chores..." PREACH!!! That's how you teach them to be good humans. ❤ 2. Did you tape your phone to the WALL???? How did you do this?? 😍 3. Don't mess with my dead time, I use that time to shut off my brain and "meditate" LOL!! 🤣 But seriously, sometimes you just need literal "dead time" to breathe.
Last Friday I donated a load of clutter to the charity shop. I just didn't need it. And today I put the excess newspapers into the recycling bin. Luckily there was plenty of space. I vacuumed my bedroom and after an inspection of looking beneath my be I gave it a good going over. You should've seen the fluff. I made dinner, washed up and swept the kitchen floor.
Ive had a Roborock for at least 4 years (on my second one now) and it saved my self esteem. I just could not sweep well enough often enough to keep up with the huge messes my kids made eating. But the Roborock goes every night and as often as needed throughout the day. I love having clean floors every day.
I don't have kids, but I live alone, so I have no partner to help me with housework. What I found useful is to do an 'inspection' every night at 8 PM. I check that every room is 'company ready', and if something needs to be done to get there, I get it done. (Company ready does not mean perfect. It means that if someone knocked on your door, you would not be ashamed to let them in, and maybe even be a tiny bit proud) Notice if a slightly bigger task needs to be done soon, and plan when to get it done before it is something you would be ashamed to show. You can always do more if you have the time and energy - but it is the everyday basics that makes most of the impact. This may sound like overkill. But honestly, this means you stay on top of it, and get things done before they get out of hand. Because most of us can quickly tell what needs to be done for a room to be 'company ready'. And knowing that it is technically company ready at all times (or fairly fast to get there) means you are a lot less tense because of some huge to do list. And you are more likely to spend time on hobbies/social things/workouts/etc., because you feel you have the time.
For motion efficiency, are you familiar with the Clean Team's "Speed Cleaning" book? It's brilliant. Best I've seen. Great for people with back or foot pain, too, because it's so efficient. I think you might love it.
@@tarynmaria_ You're welcome. I'd love to hear your take on it if you make a video about it. I don't think they have any vids on their methods, so maybe we'll hear and benefit from you on it. I skipped the part about their using special cleaners. Like you, I just made my own all-purpose one. Mine is just water with a little vinegar. I also didn't buy their custom apron, or special cleaning cloths (just bar towels). Their recommended items would probably make cleaning go faster, but even without, their method still is a lot faster than I'd ever figured out on my own and from my mom's advice. For me, it was faster almost right away, and in a few months, with some practice and getting the hang of it, ridiculously faster. And especially would be with nicely decluttered surfaces like yours. Also, thank you for your down to earth videos and info!
@@tarynmaria_ Oops, they do have videos. "Speed cleaning with Jeff Campbell, kitchen",for example. Because he carries all his tools and even a little debris bag on him, and doesn't go back and forth to the sink to clean his sponge, it saves steps and time.
Do you clean counters and stovetops once a week? Or is that a deep clean and do light cleaning the other days. I feel like if we don’t clean the stovetop after cooking, it’ll be a mess on cleaning day
Hi! So I do spot clean every day - I usually give the counters a quick wipe before bed and I spot clean the stovetops after we've used them/ And then I do a deep clean weekly to get everything up :)
Here with you, Got an autistic brother a 60+ year old man who doesn’t care about cleanliness and two children. Gonna start setting some hard boundaries when it comes to using spaces in the home.
3-4 yrs old is the perfect age to start giving them chores. Any 4 yr old can set the table and empty trash from bedrooms & bathrooms. An 8 yr old can clean a bathroom, fold laundry and wash dishes, and so on. Furthermore, I'd never pay a child for doing household chores - household chores are part of living in the home and being a family.
I do pretty much with all you mention except the robot vacuum , I no longer can use it since my baby know how to play toy . We get tired sometimes to pick up all the toy every single day multiple time a day . We only en up use the normal vacuum
Working full time is the best way to keep your house always clean (nobody is there to mess). But if you stay home with kids you will be always cooking or cleaning and the house will be always messy and dirty… where there’s people there will be the messy
I really struggle with the thought that if I can’t do all of it then I might as well not do any of it. If I can’t clean the whole bathroom then I wouldn’t clean the toilet. I like the idea of a mini-task list. If cleaning a toilet is on the list then it kinda gives me permission to clean ONLY the toilet.
Taking the garbage out only once a week only works in a country that doesn't have cockroach problems. Otherwise I recommend taking the garbage out at least every second day especially food garbage wrappers and scraps
I would say pass on the robot vacuum. I bought one in the past and you have to guide it and watch it and empty it and the time it takes you can just sweep the floor yourself faster. Maybe hers has better features.
Your videos seem to be devoted to families. Could you do a few on those who don’t have someone to delegate to? That can’t have kids help with chores? That are working full-time and doing all this themselves? No, it’s not the same thing, so it’s not a matter of just “well, take her video and do it all yourself.” Single people or families without kids are out here. We never see helpful videos for these groups. Could you do some, please?
@@tarynmaria_ Thanks! Every "cleaning guru" I see seems to forget about us, and it gets frustrating! I'd love to delegate some tasks to someone else. But my cat (the true owner of the house) refuses to wash dishes or mop for some reason. She just lays in the sun and sleeps all day! I lived in a apartment for many years. And, to be honest, I didn't really care about cleaning then. It never really felt like my home, so why bother. But now I have a house! But I have a house with multiple rooms and a lot more space than the tiny apartment. I need hints on how to manage keeping it clean while still working my 40+ hour a week job and do any fun things I want to do as well.
Your cat sounds like my old dog, I used to tell him he needed to earn his keep but he never lifted a paw! :) I'll definitely make a video on this! @@DottyGale8
and what if i feel like all my house is important? 😭 like i need all my floors clean because we don't wear shoes indoors, i also need the bathroom clean because if not it is disgusting and i also need the kitchen cleaned because it's a shared space 😭 the only thing i could say it's not that important is the bedroom 💀
So for the shower at least, the soap helps the mixture actually stick to the tiles (rather than slide down) and helps the vinegar do the work while you wait! :)
Don't you recycle garbage where you live? We have a whole drawer under the sink with five different bins, plastic, paper, food, glass and metal, and what ever other garbage. I also have a cupboard with a big box with wheels on for bottles to recycle and get money. Next to the box there is room to have standing empty pizza boxes or bigger cardboard. Outside our house we have five bins for each type.
I can’t clean with bleach products or any chemicals .. so I thou to hire cleaning lady and re thinking that they may use chemical products costing for one clean about 200-300$ easily.. for each time cleaning .. went to Amazon got steamer and oh boy 200$ best spend ever & good by to stranger ladies n chemical from home win win

My kids do their own laundry since age 8. They know how to use a computer, phone, iPad, then they also learned to operate a washer and dryer😊.
So good!!!
My kids do their own laundry too. Started in middle school. 👍
Love this. I do 15-30 minutes each night, focussing on keeping on top of the laundry and kitchen. Waking up to a clean home is so calming.

No table? I throw on the floor 😭
I so agree with sharing the chores out fairly amongst your children. Being the oldest should not be a lifelong punishment
Yes! Thank you!
I hear that. I was the oldest of four and had so much more to do. I've cleaned homes for 30 years. I like it😅
The first thing you gotta do is start decluttering, IMO. Once you start doing that, you will notice how easier your home is to clean.

I used to clean for 45 minutes, then 15 minutes to phone a friend, have a coffee or tea, etc . Worked well, but getting older and not so spry any more
I have some thoughts:
1. "If you've got boys and girls equally teach them to do these chores..." PREACH!!! That's how you teach them to be good humans. ❤
2. Did you tape your phone to the WALL???? How did you do this?? 😍
3. Don't mess with my dead time, I use that time to shut off my brain and "meditate" LOL!! 🤣 But seriously, sometimes you just need literal "dead time" to breathe.
Thank you for your thoughts!! And agree - definitely need some time to just breathe! :)
Great job! :)
Lots of great ideas!
But, nooooo to decluttering mugs!!! 😁
Thank you! Do what works for you! :)
I love your channel and your approach to chores! You make everything seem easy. And I've learned very useful tricks. You're a lifesaver, thank you!
That is amazing, thank you so much I'm so glad you are finding it useful!!
I know it's pricey, but the Roborock S7 Ultra mop/vac robot changed my freaking life.
Cool, thank you for sharing that!
Yup! Me too!!!
Ive had a Roborock for at least 4 years (on my second one now) and it saved my self esteem. I just could not sweep well enough often enough to keep up with the huge messes my kids made eating. But the Roborock goes every night and as often as needed throughout the day. I love having clean floors every day.
I love my Roomba!!
Me too!!!
Thank you for sharing!
For motion efficiency, are you familiar with the Clean Team's "Speed Cleaning" book? It's brilliant. Best I've seen. Great for people with back or foot pain, too, because it's so efficient. I think you might love it.
Oh cool, I will definitely check it out - thank you so much for sharing it!!
Great video 😊 a new subscriber🎉
Thank you so much! And welcome, I am so glad you are here!! ☺
Any guys watching this because no one else in the house will clean and cleaning the house seems impossible.
That's one way, ha!
I'm getting better at it house looks pretty good now
Here with you, Got an autistic brother a 60+ year old man who doesn’t care about cleanliness and two children. Gonna start setting some hard boundaries when it comes to using spaces in the home.
@@viralhit438 best of luck, I clean the house for four other people and I work full time.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for saying both girls and boys should do chores equally, and the same chores, not the regressive sex-segregated ones. Yes!
Amazing
Thank you!!
What steamer do you use please?
Hi! This is the one I have: amzn.to/4cK62yl
@@tarynmaria_ Thank you
I do pretty much with all you mention except the robot vacuum , I no longer can use it since my baby know how to play toy . We get tired sometimes to pick up all the toy every single day multiple time a day . We only en up use the normal vacuum
Yup, I remember those times of baby toys on the floor! We did the same :)
Hi you were cleaning wooden area and what kind of mop you using?please reply
Hi! Was it the steamer? If so, here is one that is similar to mine (and even better in my opinion): rstyle.me/+0Mk4qf9jSBjqV6tNaGYRsg
Working full time is the best way to keep your house always clean (nobody is there to mess). But if you stay home with kids you will be always cooking or cleaning and the house will be always messy and dirty… where there’s people there will be the messy
My husband and I work from home a lot but also we have 3 kids who are home after school so it doesn't stay clean for long :)
The steam cleaner on wood can potentially hurt your floor
Yes! I try not to linger the steam in any one place. I've been doing it for years, so far so good!
I wished my MIL thought like you when she was raising my husband 💀
Oh damn, haha. That's more like a general man thing. Men just interpret messes differently.
Working full time, you have to do some type of cleaning every day.
It helps so much to do that!
Yes! I used to be the same - now I literally do one small task and not worry about it :)
I really like your hair color! How is it called?
Aww thank you! It’s actually my natural hair color!
@@tarynmaria_ beautiful 🤩 you are so blessed not to have gray hair.
Taking the garbage out only once a week only works in a country that doesn't have cockroach problems. Otherwise I recommend taking the garbage out at least every second day especially food garbage wrappers and scraps
Thanks for sharing!
I do a Power 1/2 Hour, but break it down into 5 minutes per room.
Great idea!!
Clean as you go. That’s the easiest way to keep your house clean.
Absolutely!
I would say pass on the robot vacuum. I bought one in the past and you have to guide it and watch it and empty it and the time it takes you can just sweep the floor yourself faster. Maybe hers has better features.
And didn't clean well and the wheels that turned kept moving trash around.
Thank you for sharing!
Yes. Mine stayed mainly in one spot and didn't pick up all the dirt/debris. But mine was also pretty cheap.
I work like 60+ hours a week and I think it's time for a robot vac. ❤
I think you'll love it!
I thought vinegar can't be used on stone and wood floors?
I wouldn't use vinegar on those surfaces - I do it sometimes with diluted vinegar but just some water and soap will do the trick there!
I had an easier time cleaning when I was working full time.
Interesting!
We divide and conquer. I can’t do it all and the other family members are capable of helping clean as they help dirty things.
Sure, I can definitely do that and thank you for the video request!!
Clean the stove top on Sundays.People cook everyday 2 to 3 ×'s a day
My stove top doesn't get dirty from when I'm cooking - more so dust that accumulates! But also I only do batch cooking a few times a week.
I hate the robot vacuum. It skips places and it’s just faster to do it myself.
Do what works for you! :)
Clean kitchen after dinner each might. Easier.
So true!
and what if i feel like all my house is important? 😭 like i need all my floors clean because we don't wear shoes indoors, i also need the bathroom clean because if not it is disgusting and i also need the kitchen cleaned because it's a shared space 😭 the only thing i could say it's not that important is the bedroom 💀
Maybe you could try ranking your rooms and decide that way?
why add soap and vinegar to the same all purpose cleaner? Soap is basic and, with the acidic vinegar, you'll get a neutral and less potent cleaner.

We have a huge recycling bin in the back - we don’t have to separate our recyclables in DC though!
So agree about the chemicals! Isn't the steamer the best? I use mine so much!
@@tarynmaria_ yes for deep clean it’s god send item.. & cut the work in less than half

That’s a gross generalization. This is a very helpful video for many (regardless of gender)!
