Most underrated player of all time? Still pisses me off that he wasn't part of the '50 Greatest Players of All Time' list.
Nique was overrated just like his son Vince Carter. Moses Malone was the most underrated by far. 3x MVP and no one talks about him ever.
@Ramses Stafford Vince Carter in over 20 seasons only made two All NBA teams. McGrady was better. Vince Carter was supposed to be the next MJ, both 6'6 from UNC and super athletic but Carter had one great playoff run in 2001 then never was the best player on a great teams ever again.
All time robbery
@@blackphillip564 : Moses Malone is in my Top 20 All Time. 15 to 20 area.
@TheRealist 811 : ESPN has Dominique Wilkins ranked #46 All Time. They have him behind AD and Russell Westbrick. (so the credibility of this list is suspect in my opinion).
While I would rank Dominique Wilkins in a similar area, #40-50 All Time range; I'd never put AD or Westbrook over him at this point. No way are they Top 50 All Time caliber level players.
One of the most underrated Super stars of all time and humble
Humble?? You ever listen to his interviews
You spelled overrated wrong.
@@billykimber4463 lol. I see what you did there.
One of my favorite of all time players.
@WillieGreen nice joke
One of the if not the most underrated player in NBA history..Respect Mr. Wilkins!!
Everyone talks about Bird and Magic rivalry but Jordan and Dominique rivalry was like know other your talking two of the most prolific scorers in the 80s and both where great competitors in the 85 and 88 dunk contest as well
Him and Bird had some great battles too.
@@tartuffethesprywonderdog5883 Bird and Chuck Person had some good battles as well as Bernard King and Bird
Very very legit rival. Not all rivalries are gunghole straight to the top -- only rings
These 2 went at it and Nique held his own. It was a dunker rivalry, not success
That's why the last dance documentary should have been longer
@@RL-uq8ge 10 hours was already a lot of time and it wasn’t on Jordan’s career just stuff that led up to their last season
Love the respect MJ and Dominique always had for each other. I always thought he was one of the most underrated players from his era. He was much more than a dunker
too true. Nobody averages 29 pts per game (for a number of seasons, and 30pts p/game av for 1 or 2 seasons) unless they have some serious offensive artillary. I happen to think Dominique had one of the most gracefull and smooth jump shots ever. And his footwork and spin moves created many oppurtunities for him to score.
My Favorite 80s rivalry when I was a kid
"you don't double Michael is suicide" haha wow that's respect
nah..they respected eachother for their athletic abilities..Mike probably loved Nique for his great windmill jams!!!
No he loved him for his competitive nature, Jordan loves to compete & Dominique doesn't back down
Plus they both from North Carolina... Even though Nique went to UGA they're two North Carolina Boys!
@@TheKallenShow Jordan from N.Y. he moved to Carolina.
@Robert Johnson The Great MJ probably did respect wilkins, but he knew he was better than him. The Great MJ said it himself he didn't like to be compared to anyone, then he would show why there is no comparison.....6RINGZ!!!!
MJ and Nique always respected each other. A lot of that stems from them having came from the same area in NC.
Both were country boys from Eastern NC. They had mutual respect.
Not many people know that fact... I had just typed the same
The best jumpers and dunkers are from NC - MJ, Nique and Worthy just to name a few.
Wilkens would dominate in today's game
Yeah they would talk of him as if he was the greatest ever in this era.
@@LovingTinha they might to
You're right, even Lenny would :D
W I L K I N S
Really wish Nique would have won at least one championship. Definitely one of the greatest of his era and is an all-time great.
I still think he's the most exciting player to this day !! Only mike & vince could be ranked above him in excitement
What separated Nique and Jordan was nothing more then fundamentals.Jordan learned from Dean Smith and fundamentals were a big part of development for players at UNC in those days.Nique went to Georgia and was basically allowed to use his natural talent.Jordan was the first wing to have supreme athletic ability with near flawless fundamentals.Nique was just as athletic,if not more so,but didn’t have the fundamentals of Jordan. I always wonder what more Nique could’ve done in the league had he also learned from Dean Smith.
Yeah, Dominique was a great player and seems like a good guy. Getting off topic a bit, I like how he always speaks so highly of Bernard King
After that All star game dunk miss, MJ said in the post game that Dominique must of forgot to pump up. He was referring to his Reebok's. Still looking for that clip on UA-cam
Imagine of the Lakers had drafted Wilkins instead of James Worthy?? Worthy was a beast but imagine Magic with 'Nique on those fast breaks!!!! sheessh!
Omfg could have been epic
Dominique Wilkins made over 700 3-point shots in his career
The 1st person MJ took it personal with was MJ, once he accepted and overcame his baldness and weaknesses, it was open season on everyone who looked at him funny.
The human highlight reel thank you for the memories
1:58 The moment MJ took his Hairline personally! 👴
they are both UNC so they respected each other
Wilkins is from North Carolina but played college ball at the University of Georgia.
Who knew pat riley had a tv show glad Dominique won gold medal with team USA in 1994 world championships
He was on NBA Showtime with Bob Costas for the first year of the NBA on NBC in 90-91. Then it was off to New York the next year.
I love MJ and he IS the GOAT but, Dominique is my all-time favorite player. I've never seen the footage of a missed windmill dunk. I'll just pretend that didn't happen, lol.
You missed an All-Star game of that era???? First mistake there.....
@@morpheus232001 tell me about it. Maybe my sub-conscience has just block it out all these years, lol.
Y'all forgot!!! Dominique got that MJ work too
2:44 Magic cannot do a malicious laugh
Mj the Goat. Its not even close.
Always wanted to see Mike and Dominique play together
Oh my. What a team the would have
1:59 bruh what is this hairline 😂
Thats why my mans went bald 😂😂
This was my 🐐💯
1:46 Doc Rivers 😂
Man I hate how certain analysts & ect just speak of him Dunking the man was a Bucket 🪣 and played against the best
Looking like evander holyfields brother
"they werent even shots i wanted to take" rotfl you aint fooling anybody who seen you play nique.
never met a shot he didn't wanna take for sure
Back in the day whenever a player of Nique’s level blew something out on the court the shoe line instantly fell if the cliff. I think he was wearing Avia’s when his achilles popped off like a shotgun.
Doc rivers voice got it
You have the NBC pregame to this game?
WHEN THESE TWO MATCHED UP, IT WAS A SHOW
Nickname fit him The Human Highlight Reel🏀
F I L M
Holy crap, Doc had a normal voice.
*I saw Dominque in Lenox Square Mall in the apple store.*
I wonder if Dominque was drafted 1st by the Lakers how his career would have been in LA. Worthy was a great player but imagine Nique running the wing on a fastbreak with Magic. It would have been amazing to see a Magic making incredible passes to Dominque for a dunk.
Solid
I love his battle with Bird......but when it comes to dunking bouts yea....always MJ vs. Nique.
Vince Carter was Dominique on steroids
Grant Hill pre injury was Dominque combined with Pippen
Dont be stupid very few people dunked like Niq but Hill hammered on defenders and dunked with force 4 sure
You are right. Grant was more than raw talent and or fundamentals. Truly special. Even if only a short time .
Two NC natives who had a lot of respect for each other
Nique was always great in all facets. He deserved much more credit and to be on a better team than the Hawks.
Not one player in today's game says its suicide if you don't double team Lebron, If he don't have shooters around Lebrons ineffective
Who you think was chasin Jordan all them yrs as the scoring leader in the nba?
Man how oldddd is Pat Riley if he was looking like THAT in 1991??
he looks a little like Gandalf now
Jordan doing as well as he did made him come out of retirement and try to put him and the Bulls away but it utterly failed
Jordan sounds like he doesn't give full credit to Dominique..as if he is all about just dunking..the dude (Nique) was a beast in open court, monster as a scoring machine and a fierce defensive player..top 20 best scoring players OAT and Def in the conversation of most exciting run and gun dunkers OAT!!
Young Doc alert
It's a Carolina thang!
He played well at the right time then a tongue got in the way.
Imagine LA would've taken Nique instead of James Worthy that would have been a real SHOWTIME
Most of the 50 greatest players of all time could not even guard Dominique's jock strap.
I want game 4 Lakers vs Pacers Finals
I love this guy 😍💩🥃🥃🥃
Somebody made this up they said if you get all of the greatest basketball player still living together they would have nothing to talk about or nothing to get accomplish💰 I told him that that’s preposterous the greatest basketball players in the world got to be that way because they are very good at organizing communication I just think they didn’t have the opportunity but you know never say never
Nique used to give him and Pippen the business. Too bad he never had a team around him.
He could have been the face of the league too he was more exciting than mike to me dunk out of nowhere
That GS dunk is highly underrated. @ 0:29 Wow!!! I'm back @ 2:02 Pippen is too slow and MJ is too small. After Nique missed that dunk. I remember Jordan sayin: He must have forgot to Pump Up.
My favorite player all-time after hakeem!!!
Michael Jordan Mike Tyson
Dominique Wilkins Evander Holyfield
why is Doc River's voice so diiferent before??
Cause he's always yelling now as a coach, so he's loosing it lol.
Dominique Wilkins looks like Evander Holyfield
Are we going to ignore doc rivers change bro
literally the ONLY player that could match early Mj's athletic talent.
excuse me lol
doc rivers was a small child back then. mj had some hair. on the other hand pat riley was born old...
Doc Rivers' voice is pretty normal here. Wtf happened?
Started coaching😂😂😂🥴
2:07
young doc and early balding stage jordan lol
Jordan didn’t see Dominique as a threat probably, great athleticism but he wasn’t on jordans level in terms of closing the game or willing teams to victory
Nah jordan said they used to go at they both raised in NC they was close
Jordan said Dominique was the best player he ever played against individually. So you don't know what your talking about
@@mitchbordborden8152 doesn’t mean he has to see him as threat
@@theoldbk5419 if his best competition wasn't a threat than nobody was threat to Jordan.
NIQUE WASNT JUST A DUNKER!!!!
I think that Wilkins is much better than LeFraud.
Mike knows Nique had is number in the dunk contests😝
not if you watched 85 closely.
@@pianone0715 I did
@@stevep4574 Well, Jordan's cradle dunk was new and his free throw line dunk was much longer considering his take off behind the line and Dominique had to repeat his dunks again and again. It was Jordan in 85. He just wasn't as popular as Nique at that time. So Chicago 88 was payback time. I kind of agree with people saying It was supposed to be Nique's in Chicago, but all the dunks Jordan made in Chicago were all the same as in 85 except that he needed to step on the FT line for his FT line dunk in 88.... and so was Nique's except that Jordan was much lighter in 85 but the judges weren't impressed because in their minds, It was Nique's time. In Chicago, Jordan had a name already and his dunks that lost in 85 weren't that hard to sell in Chicago. But to be fair with Jordan, I'd say 85 was his... and 88 was Nique's. But If it were up to me, I'd let them copy the other's dunks and see who can or cannot do. Nique can't obviously do the double pump with one hand reverse dunk and the cradle dunk... . Jordan? He can do anything Nique(the windmill varieties) can do.End of the story. Have you really watched it closely?
@@pianone0715 I thought Nique repeated most of his dunks and if the contest was in Atlanta, he would have won instead of Chicago.
@@stevep4574 exactly. Don't forget Spud Webb. too. Did he really win it? Point is that, It's a subjective thing. Both are great dunkers... It depends on your preference. I like Jordan's because of his hang time. Through the years, I've seen power dunkers through the years but hanging on air and switching directions.. with one hand is rare!... that's my preference right there. Air Jordan.
Nique got robbed in the dunk contest
