    In today's video, you get to watch one of the most exciting players in NBA history: Dominique Wilkins. He more than held his own whenever he was matched up with the Celtics GOAT front line, and could score over/around anyone in the league during his prime. I know that this video is longer than your average episode of Game of Thrones, but its worth watching.
    If you have any NBA players that you'd enjoy seeing in the future, please let me know! I actually like NBA basketball more than any other sport, so this channel may start showing more and more hoops as the years go on.

    Nique was so electrifying! One of those classic players who deserved a championship run. He was unforgettable. And he was so much more than a dunker. The hop steps, double clutching shots and lay ups, he had great footwork, I saw some reverse pivots and spin moves. He had an array of unstoppable moves. Top 50 for sure

    • @im2hastyle
      @im2hastyle 7 років тому +6

      Yeah Wiggins is pretty dope. But I should have been more specific. What I meant is there will be no one else who can imitate his 'style' of bball. Like his heel kicking jumpshot, or that go to spin move, and most definitely the explosive finishes. Kind of like how no one has imitated George Gervin's play style yet lol.

    • @user2176
      @user2176 6 років тому +6

      Wiggin's athleticism reminds me more of MJ's, he is real smooth and makes it look effortless. Dominique was way more energetic and explosive, and he had such an array of un-orthodox moves. Sometimes Wiggins doesn't seem to be all there mentally, Wilkins was always ready to play and brought that intensity to every game.
      Shawn Kemp was probably the closest comparison to Dominique, but they also had very different games.

  • @bizil100
    @bizil100 Рік тому +4

    Among the SF's, Nique is the MOST PHYSICALLY DOMINANT SCORER of all time! He's in the group with Bron and Dr. J. But the difference between Nique and those two is the WAY Nique could totally dominate a defense off the vertical point of the attack. On top of it Nique is the most EFFECTIVE offensive rebounder of all time. Because Nique was looking to get the offensive rebound, score off of it, and most likely the points would come off a thunderous dunk putting guys on a poster!
    So for these reasons, I think Nique is the GOLD STANDARD freak athlete among the SF's!! Bron is the best blend of speed, power, and hops among the SF's. Dr. J is the most graceful and flexible in terms of using his freak athletic ability. I consider Vince and T-Mac SG's.
    Plus Nique's FUNDAMENTALS scoring the rock are underrated. He used the glass scoring AS WELL as any player ever. He followed his shot AS WELL as any player ever. Among SF's, his footwork on the block is arguably the best ever. And his spin move is among the best of all time. He took Earl the Pearl's spin move to another level IN TERMS of what Nique could do out of the spin move! He also used up fakes as well as any SF to play.
    His midrange shot was a true weapon for damn sure. He shot 81% from the line for his career. And he shot 38% on three point percentage on 120 3's in 1992-1993 and 39% on 112 3's in 1994-1995. So he even became a very effective three point shooter. Among the SF's, Nique's blend of freak athletic ability AND scoring skill is among the best of all time.

    As long as I draw breath, it will continue to burn the very fibers of my ass, that Dominique was not included in the 1997 50 greatest NBA players of all time. Shaq got in, in only his 5th season, with no championships. Charles Barkley got in, with no championships. Stockton and Malone got in, with no championships. These are just a few. But, what a slap to the face of a man that helped to build the league to where it is today. Do you know how many asses this man put in arena seats, all over this great country ? All of the greats respected him. Especially Larry Bird. How this happened, is simply one of the greatest travesties to ever happen to such a deserving basketball legend. And, no, Atlanta wasn't my team, but you'd best believe that whenever Dominique came to town, no matter what team they faced, it was a sold out crowd. The NBA OWES THIS MAN. RESPECT TO YOU, 'NIQUE !!!!!!!! You definitely ARE among the 50 greatest, to EVER play this game at the professional level.

    • @bizil100
      @bizil100 Рік тому +1

      DAMN RIGHT!!! Nique should have been an ABSOLUTE LOCK for the top 50!! At the time of the list he was the 7th leading scorer of ALL TIME! He scored MORE POINTS THAN ANY SF EVER at the time of the 50 greatest list. Nique SCORED MORE POINTS than any SF ever until Lebron passed him by! That's how DOMINANT Nique was! It took Lebron to take that crown from Nique!
      From there Nique had a MAJOR IMPACT growing the NBA! When David Stern started getting that NBA marketing machine rolling with the posters, VHS tapes, etc. Nique was ALWAYS gonna be among the top 5-7 guys featured in those. For the NBA All Star weekend that became iconic in the 80's, ONCE AGAIN Nique was among the top 5-7 most important guys. He was in that group with MJ, Magic, Bird, Isiah, and Barkley. When Dr. J and Kareem was on their way out the league, Nique was in that NEXT GROUP of rock star type players.
      You can't TELL THE STORIES of MJ and Bird WITHOUT Nique a part of it!!! That's how great Nique was! When analysts on TV talk about the greatest players to never win a ring, they NEVER MENTION NIQUE!! They always mention Malone, Barkley, Stockton, and Ewing for example. Nique's name FOR DAMN SURE belongs in that group!!! For what he accomplished in terms of numbers, revolutionizing the game with his freak athletic ability, and helping grow the NBA on a worldwide level!

    • @500erider
      @500erider Рік тому +1

      LeBron has passed him, but Dominique faced ferocious defenses, and still averaged over 30 ppg on a regular basis. LeBron has had it easier, by comparison. Today's NBA displays almost ZERO defense, no hand checking, and they almost never even foul each other. It's pathetic !!!!!!! Plus, Dominique didn't take 25+ games off per season, watching from the bench, like LeBron does.@@bizil100

      DAMN RIGHT! The ONLY WAY to win a basketball game is to score the most points! So for me, TRUE ALPHA DOG SCORERS who are durable and reliable is a premium asset. Nique had that IN SPADES!!! I call those type of players nuclear weapons! Pippen wasn't a nuclear weapon. And while I think Worthy is underrated in terms of scoring ability, the guys like MJ, Bird, Nique, Gervin, Dr. J, etc. were on another level in terms of dominant scoring ability among the perimeter players!

    If he had a legit number two player like a Ewing, Miller, etc. in his prime he would be a champion and in the conversation of players like KD, Pippen, Dr. J.

    Guys of Nique's swag and caliber DON'T GET ROBBED in other sports!! I'm talking highlight film type of players who ALSO have the numbers to back it up. And from there revolutionized their sport in terms of their brand of play. Barry Sanders in football doesn't get robbed the way Nique did in terms of accomplishments. Imagine if Barry Sanders DIDN'T make the NFL's Top 100 list. Barry didn't win a ring BUT everybody knows he was among the best RB's ever! And in terms of excitement, he was #1! That would have been a total TRAVESTY if Barry didn't make!!!
    Yet the NBA shafted Nique and didn't give him his just due. I'm glad he made the top 75 though! Just saying Nique should have been an ABSOLUTE LOCK for the top 50 in 1997! To this day when I talk to casual fans about old school NBA, Nique's name is ALWAYS MENTIONED! When I tell those people Nique didn't make the NBA top 50 back in 1997, they were SHOCKED! They knew of the list and ASSUMED Nique was on there! When they hear he wasn't it was pure shock!

    Let me get this straight..... Barkley, Malone, and Stockton ALL played with way more capable talent during their primes than Nique ever had. When Barkley first hit the league, he got to play with many of the guys who were on the 1983 Sixers title team. Sure Dr. J in Barkley's rookie year was past his prime. BUT even that version of Dr. J WAS BETTER than any player Nique got to play with in his prime. Doc was still a legit All Star and still among the top 3-5 players at the SF position. Moses was still a beast and in his prime. Barkley hit a rough spot in Philly after the 83 guys left the team or retired. BUT Barkley got traded to Phoenix and got to play with the deepest team he ever played on in the league. KJ, Dumas, Thunder Dan, Chambers, Ainge, etc. were all on that team. ONCE AGAIN, Nique NEVER GOT CLOSE to playing with that type of talent during his prime!
    And of course Stockton and Malone had each other. And from there guys such as Hornacek, Jeff Malone, a DPOY in Mark Eaton, etc. Once again, Nique NEVER played with that type of talent around him during his prime. So HOW IS IT that a superstar on Nique's level gets discredited for not winning a ring. BUT guys like Barkley, Malone, and Stockton played on teams THAT were WAY MORE TALENTED yet never won a ring. IF ANYTHING, those guys should catch more heat than Nique does. BECAUSE those guys actually played on teams projected to make the NBA Finals at least. And STILL couldn't win. Nique on the OTHER HAND never played on a team projected to make the NBA Finals. Because Nique NEVER PLAYED WITH a superstar OR perennial All Star type of player in their prime.
    If you asked David Stern who were the 5-7 players more responsible for helping to grow the league during that 80's Golden Era, Nique's name FOR DAMN SURE be among the guys mentioned. Even when you look at TBS being the top superstation in the country back in the day, Nique being on the Hawks MEANT fans got to see Nique more than a lot of other superstars due to TBS being nationwide pretty much. So once again that's another factor that I'm sure was very valuable to Stern. The two most exciting players in MJ and Nique BOTH were on superstations that were ahead of their time in WGN and TBS respectively! So a lot of us were more exposed to MJ and Nique than any of the other superstar players in that era.
