  • A 4x80 is too short for me, but a 4x100 sometimes feels a little but too long, even if it’s rockered. So I wondered: how would a 4x90 suit me?
    I bought the Powerslide Next Burgundy Grey 90 and now I know how a 4x90 suits: fantastic!

      Haha, no way, you’re never too old. Check @old_swedish_inlineskater on Instagram: he’s from 1969, he started inline skating in 2018 and now he’s shredding the skatepark. There’s no age limit to skating. 😉
      And thank you for the nice words! 🙏

    Congrats, they look great! I am very interested in hearing what you think about these skates after some time on them. I think the 90mm might be the perfect set-up for city skating. I love the option to rocker. 80mm flat is great but as you said, maybe not stable enough for some urban tricks. 80mm rockerd is crazy and really only good for slalom. 90mm rockerd feels great but again as you said, maybe not stable enough. 100mm rockerd feels fantastic for carving and such a fun sensation but a bit heavy and clumsy. I think your Next 90s might be the sweet spot. Enjoy!

      Thank you! 🙏
      I have been skating the Next 90s for about three months now - the footage of this video was filmed on March 13th, I'm a bit behind with all the editing 😅 - and I'm really happy with them. I've been using them for stair rides, urban tricks and this week even in the skatepark. For me, a 4x90 indeed hits the sweet spot. And as the wheels were worn into a natural rocker, I didn't even rocker the frame - I suspect the rocker would be too noticeable, more like a slalom skate. Even with the flat setup, I can do Gazelles and Lions, so I don't feel the need to lessen the stability.
      However, this weekend I will remove the Kizer Flux frame and replace it with something else: I've got an Endless Trinity 90 waiting to be mounted. That silvery frame is going to look so cool on those boots, and it will be even more fun to skate.

    I also have PS Next with the Kizer Flux frame, try rockering it! 4x90 Banana rocker is pretty cool for slalom, but unstable on high speeds, 4x90 front rocker is pretty cool, very stable, but faster and more manoeuvrable than flat. 3x100 flat is not to my taste, very clumsy, 3x100 front and back rockered is extremely unstable, 3x100 front rockered is slightly faster and more manoeuvrable than 3x100 very comparable to the 4x90 front rocker. So I recommend you try out those 2 option, wouldn't want to go back to flat anymore.

      Haha, thanks for the advice, but I've already replaced the Kizer Flux frame with the Endless Trinity 90 frame, which offers a balanced rocker and of course looks super nice.
      On the Flux frame, my wheels were quickly worn into a natural rocker, so I didn't really feel the need to rocker it. I don't think the rockered Flux frame will ever feel as smooth as the Endless frame, though, but maybe I'll just try it one day.

      @Alex-kr7zr 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheRollingRaptor Oh, so quickly? Yeah, I guess the Endless frame feels smoother, but it's not grind-capable, which is I think the most interesting part of the Kizer Flux, besides the different rocker options.

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  3 роки тому +1

      @@Alex-kr7zr Yeah, as soon as those Endless Trinity frames came out, I knew: I got to have those! I'm used to the rocker of the NN 4x100 Ronin frames and I knew the Endless 90 would offer a similar experience, but with a Next boot. And yeah, I can't do grinds with those frames, but I can't do grinds with the Flux frames either because I still have to learn grinding. I'm gonna learn grinding with my USD Sway skates, I guess. As soon as I've mastered that skill, I'll probably mount the Flux frame back under a pair of my Next boots.

    I bought them too and now I give them up... These skates are too heavy. Almost 1.8 kg for one skate. 4*90 got 273 frame length definitely not that agile. Rock the first wheel up would be better. Rockerable frame makes the wheels are set a little lower. Makes the little height earned by trinity system in vain. Sharp painful pressure point in the left foot even I bought one size up. Skate once would take days to recover. One size up makes my narrow feet feel wobbling at high speed. Even not at high speed it needs more control you probably can’t notice. so I feel my legs get tired quickly.

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  3 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment, Roy. You clearly have a completely different experience than I have.
      The painful pressure points are an issue that I have heard numerous times, but I don't feel any pain myself. I can skate for hours with these skates and it just feels great. And since I've got rather wide feet, I feel I have complete control.
      As for the agility: I can do one-footed spins with those frames (the so-called Lions of Wizard skating). If I can do that, then a frame is more than agile enough for me. And I have skated these frames so often the last couple of months that they soon developed a natural rocker, so there was no more need for extra rockering, even if it's a rather long 273 frame.
      I haven't noticed the weight at all. I have to say though that I'm used to my 4x100 Ronin setup and that one is quite heavy. So in comparison, the Next Burgundy Grey feels light. I think it's a matter of what you're used to. Last weekend I went skating with a friend who's normally wearing very old USD skates. He used my Next 90s and was surprised about how light they were in comparison to his heavy USDs.
      But I believe that Next skates are not to everybody's liking. It's unfortunate that some people experience pain and a lack of control. I think it's impossible however to make a skate that fits the wide variety of feet. I consider myself lucky that the Next boot fits me.

    What is the disdvantages of this skate? Thanks

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  2 роки тому

      First of all: I do love this skate! I also like the Kizer Flux frame, though I've now mounted it under a different boot (the PS). The Flux frame is a flate frame, but you can rocker it. But the rocker's a banana rocker for slaloming, not a subtle wizard style rocker. Also, the frame uses double axels, not the single axels most freeride frames are equipped with. I like the comfort of the boot, but since I'm a size 42, the 42-43 boot fits a bit too loose for providing maximum control.
      Those are about all the disadvantages I can think of. 🙂
