Just installed one of these yesterday, watched this before I started and it really helped out. Only took two hours but I had to extend the bottom of the door sill 3/4 of and inch to get the seal to close at the bottom, had to set it up for left open and then flip the lock, easy DIY project.
This is fantastic, thank you! I've been learning so much from your videos, and was able to self diagnose and fix a few issues with my storm door after watching them. I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much! When I first installed it I had the opposite rail too far to the side, which made a huge gap and it wouldn’t close right. I hired a “handy man” to fix it because I was at my wits end, and even he couldn’t fix it. Thanks to your video, I FIXED IT!! 🎉 Thank you so much!!
Man I really appreciate this video! Saved a ton of time flipping through directions. This is a popular door so lots of folks will benefit from the video. Thanks again.
Single take, wow! Super helpful. About to install 2 of these to avoid the Lowe’s $250+ install fee…saved me some money! Thanks! “If ya haven’t drew blood, you haven’t installed a door!” Amen
What if my opening measures 35 13/16 inches? Will I be able to fit it into the opening with the Larson signature series 36 inch? I read the tolerance is 35 ⅞ to 36 inches. Will this be problematic? Height is not an issue. Great video!
You should be fine. I've been able to fit a standard 36" door into a 35 3/4" opening. May have to remove spacers from strikeplate. If it doent work, just remove 3/16" of trim from the hing side of the opening to get a 36" width.
You don't need much space between the handles, just make sure they don't interfere with each other. Storm door manufacturers offset their handles from where a standard entry door handle is so 99% of the time it's not a problem. For the 1% of the time it is a problem. you have to ad shims behind the storm door frame to move the storm door away from the opening to create the needed gap.
You have to tighten the strike plate on the latch frame rail. Loosen the top and bottom screw and move the strike plate closer to the house closer closer to the inside.
I'm sorry,I didn't make clear, the light is coming thru from the left side of the door top to bottom when it's close, it's a small crack top to bottom of door
Good day, I have a question. I just got a storm door estimate for $1540 from overhead door company. This is for the door and installation is that too much?
I had Lowe's install mine, and they did a terrible job. The bottom sweep is short on both sides, so I'm ordering a replacement and going to attempt to swap it out myself. They also came and installed it when I wasn't home (I specifically told them not to), and so they weren't able to push the extender down to fit the door from the inside. There is air underneath and on both sides because of these things. I tried lowering the extender by removing the screws. One won't come out without a power drill (I don't own one), and the other literally broke in two pieces since they'd originally screwed it in too high. It's a disaster. I'm so mad.
Sorry to hear that. It's actually against Lowe's policy to have an installer onsite without someone over the age of 18 present. You could call Lowe's corporate and make your experience known. Their phone number is (800) 445-6937.
@@stormdoorguy It was installed back in late 2020, so I'm sure there's not much they can do. They also didn't install the lock correctly at first, and it was stuck locked for about a month until they randomly stopped by to fix it. Again, I wasn't home, and they never even notified me that they fixed it. It just worked one day. It was a horrible experience.
You’ll have to probably order a new hinge rail. Once you pull that pin out, I don’t know that it can go back in because their pressure set at the factory.
About to install a Larson door. I couldn’t get through the first three minutes of the video. There are very few things in life that irritate me more than an untrained dogs incessant barking.

What would you do if you don't have the inch gap between the two door handles?

Have a Larson storm door have light on the latch side from top to bottom and you please tell me how to fix this issue, Thank You, Roy

Do you have an 8' tall door or a custom size?
Custom

What if on the bottom hinge the metal rod was pulled out before installing how can it go back in.
You’ll have to probably order a new hinge rail. Once you pull that pin out, I don’t know that it can go back in because their pressure set at the factory.
What happened with the fuzzy things with the extenders
What do you mean?
What about the 2 little fuzzy strips?!?! Haha
They go on the inside of the rail cap extenders at the bottom if you need them. Just cut to size.
Must be very tired he good worker man
Thanks for the compliment!
