I am a 78 year old woman who is pretty handy, but I thought installing a storm door might be beyond me. I called some handypeople, and the price was outside my pension limit! So, I watched your video, and you made everything so clear that I was no longer intimidated. And in about 1 1/2 hours the job was done! THANK YOU!
This is the first storm door instillation video that I watched where the instillation did not go perfect. That made it a perfect instillation video to watch
I really liked that you did not edit out all the struggle parts, as those are very informative. I also like that you were very clear about the differences between this install and a 'normal' install.
Who dislikes this? It's literally the most comprehensive and detailed install video on UA-cam. Every other video is 5 minutes, which covers and explains bare bones. Great video as always, Shannon!
i'm really glad you didn't edit out the part of installing the closer that didn't quite go right the first time... it's helpful to know what could go wrong, and anticipate for it if we're trying to install a door closer for the first time. thanks, Shannon!
Although not a person that ever installed doors, I would like to thank you for an informative in-service that I noticed appear on my cell phone. Happy Holidays and thanks once again.
Excellent video. I appreciate you showing the little hiccups that come along with a TRUE installation. Not everyone does that on here, and in my opinion hiding the mistakes or miss read instructions only makes things more confusing for the person when it comes time to them actually doing the install. You show the REALITY of things that happen in real life, so my hats 🧢 off to you sir. May I ad that your videos are so well done for that reason alone. A big thank you for all the instructional videos you put out.
FANTASTIC WORK! I love that you hardly edit the process because it's really great to watch you in realtime problem solve. THAT one aspect of your videos is VERY IMPORTANT. It allows the viewer to build it with you. We start to problem solve right along with you! Cheers from Chicago and I support you on Patreon!
Great install, those storm doors, as simple as they may seem, are carefully hung as to not be lopsided thus creating gaps or binds and it's not as simple as it may look. You took us thru the steps to getting a perfect hang. Thanks
One of the greatest DIY videos I’ve ever seen. Thanks. I’m having a new storm/screen door installed. I’m still not gonna tackle it myself but now I’ll know what my installer is doing and talking about. Kinda creepy that I was searching for doors on Menards online and suddenly your install video came up in my YT feed. And you’re excused for not having your safety glasses at first. I don’t know of any home DIY or handymen that would wear them for minimal power tool usage like this. Thanks again and keep up the vids.
I just purchased the same door and will be installing it tomorrow. Always nice to be able to view a video of it versus going by the instructions only. Thanks for keeping it real, you made me realize that I should open the door 90° to mark the spot for the closure hinge. Great job on both, the door and the video. I am now subscribed!
Thank you for doing a detailed video with some additional oopsy’s.. that makes me feel way better! I just went to the ReStore and got a used storm door...full glass or screen...I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone who has never done a job like this.... the trim or flashing was different, no instructions , the height on the door handle was already there, and ..yep Murphy’s law made it that it collided with the other handle...I’ll get it done after it stops raining 🌧
Please don’t make anymore videos, you’re costing me too much money. Every time I watch your video I am off to Home Depot buying something to install or fix. :) Definitely one of best DYI videos on UA-cam, very easy to follow and understand the process.
Thanks for all your videos!!! A few years ago I installed a ceiling fan thanks to you, now about to install one of these doors. Thank you for going over every single detail
Very descriptive video, one of the best i have seen so far. Installing a new door as soon as the wheater warms up. I live in Chicago. Thank you. The sicilian
Another great video, I just love the fact you don’t edit out your mistakes, I learn more from your mistakes because I make tons of them, Thanks again !!!
Every DIY has some unforeseen mistakes and problems. Usually that’s when I get pissed and start really messing up. Very cool to see how those mistakes can quickly be fixed and just move on.
Seriously you’re the best We appreciate it I’m from North Africa and being myself a handyman Your videos are really helping me a lot Assalamoalaikom ( means peace be upon you)
Nice video. I am thinking about doing this myself to save money even though I'm not particularly handy. A video like this, real time, step by step is exactly what I hoped to find. Thanks for the education, I'm feeling confident about this!
I real appreciate your videos and your craftsmanship! I needed the part of the video were the closer didnt open to 90 degrees and how to adjust. Thank you Shannon!
As always, great video! loved the problem you ran into as that is exactly the stuff that happens when doing projects and your knowledge was very insightful!
VERY HELPFUL. ACTUALLY GLAD YOU HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR CLOSER BECAUSE I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, AND WATCHING YOU MAKE ADJUSTMENTS HELPED ME. THANK YOU
Awesome video I wanted to install one of these doors for years now but I'm not too confident in this particular project so thanks to your video I think I'll try now
Not afraid to look at the instructions when you're not sure. 👌 Awesome job showing its always best to double check. I appreciate how thorough this was, I've been hesitant about putting one up because everyone else makes it look harder.
I am so happy I came across this video of yours because I am planing to install a outside screen door in the back of the house also will watch this video a few times over and over to get the full idea of installing a screen door with out hiring a contractor and to save a bundle of money by doing it myself - I subscribe to your channel for a number of years and each one is very good .
I'm still scared to death to do this alone, but wow, this is the most comprehensive video out there. I weigh 95 lbs. My main fear is that I'll drop the door, bend it, and break the glass. You're so detail-oriented that I would pay you to install mine. Amazing job!
These doors really do not weigh much once you get them out of the clumsy box they come it and as Cadman suggested many will allow you to remove all or some of the glass to reduce the weight of them.
Excellent video - well executed and edited. I appreciate the info as it is to the point and well organized. Really great camera work too! Thanks so much - very helpful. Good work.
excellent video with real world example of fits and starts on what "problems" could happen on various installations. I probably would have removed the two glass window before using the center punch for fear of breaking the windows when hammering the center punch. All in all, GREAT!
I don't even use a drill bit anymore to start a hole in the wood to keep the wood from splitting. Since manufacturers came out with the "self drilling screws" which is one of the coolest modification in a long time when it comes to fasteners, all I do is tape one self drilling screw to my 18 volt drill and I have been using the same screw for years now, and the piece of tape I use to tape that screw to the drill is Gorilla Tape.
Well-paced video. Very calmly presented and thorough. I like how you went over the kit & instructions at the start also; many videos delve right into jobs.. Thank you!
Thanks for the good video. I should replace my old storm doors next spring. My old doors had spring loaded hinges that helped the door close better. It also had the closure in the middle.
Thansk doing this today with a tap n go one! I guess wind got behind ours and ripped the door open. Bent the bracket on the jamb and ripped the jamb up pretty good. Just patched it with an oak dutchman and finishing up today. Good timing lol.
Safety glasses are a fashion statement for some jobs. I can be wearing a pair of "safety" glasses and get more stuff in eyes than without them. Awesome video thanx!
Not sure what brand door yours is but looks very much like one I just bought. Your video is more detailed and complete than the company's installation video!! Thank you for close ups, that was extremely helpful also! I am now confident I can install my door, with just a bit of help to drill for latch. 👍😃❤️
I was having some issues with an account in Patreon, but they've been resolved. It was good that you left in the door adjustment! It was good to see how much, or little difference, changing the position of the bracket made. Where, and how would a chain be attached?

oh Wow, I'm imressed! Good for you!
Wow! That’s wonderful! Thank you so much for your inspiration! ❤
You definitely have a 💪🧠&✋👁 coordination.
Happy about your success & savings.
That’s gnarly 🤘
That’s awesome 👏 😊

Been watching you for years. You are my first "Go to" for my HONEY-DO list.
I like that you have step by step instructions. I especially like that you showed how to fix mismeasurements. I can't wait to take on this project!
FANTASTIC WORK! I love that you hardly edit the process because it's really great to watch you in realtime problem solve. THAT one aspect of your videos is VERY IMPORTANT. Thanks for becoming a Patron of ours!
Great video I learn very much how to install my storm door I appreciate it
im at a point where your videos have become relaxing for me to watch
Me as well. No drama, no shouting, no bad language. Just simple, quiet instructions.
Great install, those storm doors, as simple as they may seem, are carefully hung as to not be lopsided thus creating gaps or binds and it's not as simple as it may look. You took us thru the steps to getting a perfect hang. Thanks

Best storm door install video, clear and concise. Thank you.
I've never done this before but I'm about to do it for a client, I could not have found a better video. The mistake was also very worthwhile.
I just purchased the same door and will be installing it tomorrow. Always nice to be able to view a video of it versus going by the instructions only. PERFECT video covering all the snaggy bits like which way round is the spring. FANTASTIC ! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I install em for lowes...and your right 2 people make it way easier.

thanks for this lmao... considering buying a used one for 20 or new for 250 and this is the reality
Please don’t make anymore videos, you’re costing me too much money. Every time I watch your video I am off to Home Depot buying something to install or fix. :)
Definitely one of best DYI videos on UA-cam, very easy to follow and understand the process.
Thank you for taking the time to make such a clear, comprehensive, and well described, installation video. Really helps.
Generally when I search a home DIY project, I scroll to see if Shannon did a video and *click*, that's the one I watch.
I like this guy, pretty calm and professional
Thanks for all your videos!!! A few years ago I installed a ceiling fan thanks to you, now about to install one of these doors. Thank you for going over every single detail
I love this guy's installation tips! I watch his videos just for information of things I'm not even doing at the moment.
I have never gave a storm door a second thought, until now. DIYing my first. Thank you for a very detail install.
Very descriptive video, one of the best i have seen so far. Installing a new door as soon as the wheater warms up. I live in Chicago.

Your videos are really helping me a lot
Assalamoalaikom ( means peace be upon you)
Great video. The best I have seen on installing a storm door. Your “mistake” was actually a learning! Thank you.
One of the best and most thorough how to videos I have ever seen. I am now a subscriber.
Wow, thanks!
This is a great instructional video for someone that has never installed a storm door before, like me. Makes it look very simple. Thank you!
Glad you liked it
As always, great video.
To all newbies: You can't go wrong with this guy.
No one will ever be more clear and give simple direction to a install your the best thank you.
Thanks for the instructions. Successfully installed a storm door for the first time today and this video was a huge help along the way.
Nice video. I am thinking about doing this myself to save money even though I'm not particularly handy. A video like this, real time, step by step is exactly what I hoped to find. Thanks for the education, I'm feeling confident about this!
You can do it!
I real appreciate your videos and your craftsmanship! I needed the part of the video were the closer didnt open to 90 degrees and how to adjust. Thank you Shannon!
As always, great video! loved the problem you ran into as that is exactly the stuff that happens when doing projects and your knowledge was very insightful!
you are a real Master Shannon and always I keep learning from every single video than you posted...thanks so much.
VERY HELPFUL. ACTUALLY GLAD YOU HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR CLOSER BECAUSE I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, AND WATCHING YOU MAKE ADJUSTMENTS HELPED ME. THANK YOU
As a first time homeowner this tutorial was perfect. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Awesome video I wanted to install one of these doors for years now but I'm not too confident in this particular project so thanks to your video I think I'll try now
Thanks Shannon. Great demo. Hope you get rid of your cold before Christmas.

You can likely remove the glass first to complete the install. It makes the door much lighter.
These doors really do not weigh much once you get them out of the clumsy box they come it and as Cadman suggested many will allow you to remove all or some of the glass to reduce the weight of them.
Thank you Shannon! The instruction manual that came with my storm door was vague in certain steps. This video was a great supplement.
Excellent video - well executed and edited. I appreciate the info as it is to the point and well organized. Really great camera work too! Thanks so much - very helpful. Good work.
You are the best 👍
I wish all teachers were like you
Never used an air bag! GREAT tool!
excellent video with real world example of fits and starts on what "problems" could happen on various installations. I probably would have removed the two glass window before using the center punch for fear of breaking the windows when hammering the center punch. All in all, GREAT!
I think you really did a good job explaining everything took your time detailed it out to where almost anyone can follow thank you
Appreciate your series of videos! Very useful for "seeing how someone else does it."
I don't even use a drill bit anymore to start a hole in the wood to keep the wood from splitting. It's always simple until this not simple anymore lol. This is helping foreseeing some problems. Thanks
Best door install I have watched. Thank you very much sir
One of the best videos I have seen. Well done and thanks.
Great! You're a man of details !!! I'm installing my storm door next week!
Very detailed! Thank you so much. Also you have the patience of a saint sir! Much appreciated.
Outstanding clarity. I really appreciate the detailed instructions. Thanks!
Excellent instructions and very organized. Hope your wife was surprised with the screen door.
Well-paced video. Very calmly presented and thorough. I like how you went over the kit & instructions at the start also; many videos delve right into jobs.. Thank you!

It's hard to find how to videos anymore glad I found this !
Great video, as always! He always does step by step instructions! True tradesman seems to be a thing of the past.
Thank you was very helpful appreciate you taking the time to explain this in detail
Great instruction... it’s always fun to watch your video. You make things look very easy. Big fan.
Thansk doing this today with a tap n go one! I guess wind got behind ours and ripped the door open. Bent the bracket on the jamb and ripped the jamb up pretty good. Just patched it with an oak dutchman and finishing up today. Good timing lol.
Showing the mistakes and how to make adjustments was very informative and appreciated. Thank you.
Good to watch and very learning experience, best part didn't edit the video of doing things wrong....that's what happened in most of the DIY.
Thank you Shannon for all your videos
This is definitely UA-cam University thank you so much now I know how to install my stone door.
impeccable professionally completed with quality control
Thank you sir. Very easy to understand and follow. Thanks for all the details
You've got some great sound equipment. The pickup is awesome!
Hey, thanks!
Excellent instruction and video work as always.
Safety glasses are a fashion statement for some jobs. I can be wearing a pair of "safety" glasses and get more stuff in eyes than without them. Awesome video thanx!
Agree. I believe safety glasses are deployed here mostly as an exercise in CYA.
@@carpnotes4607 congrats for you. Just like seat belts, should be up to individuals
I wear safety glasses when I am doing something that may grenade. Also if I was drilling above my head.
Great job good patience God bless you young man
Fantastic video. Every thing I needed to know. Much appreciated!
Makes it look so easy. I tried and found out I had to do a build up for the door to fit
Just bought a storm door and the instructions are actually wrong!! You made this install very easy for me...Thank you
Very helpful Shannon thank you. It should help me through my install
Really great explanation, brother, thank you. The details you touch on help a lot.
Fabulous video. thanks for all the suggestions!
Thanks for all these videos.
Great video, you're very good teaching. Thanks.
Not sure what brand door yours is but looks very much like one I just bought. Your video is more detailed and complete than the company's installation video!! Thank you for close ups, that was extremely helpful also! I am now confident I can install my door, with just a bit of help to drill for latch. 👍😃❤️
Excellent video Shannon, leaving the adjustments and fixes in.
Very informative. Thanks I’ll do my own install.
Thumbs up Shannon. Excellent as always.
Great video excellent explanation very helpful thank you
Man, I love this channel, so many cool A-grade DIY videos. Thanks! 👏 👍 🙏
Glad you like them!
You are such a good teacher
I was having some issues with an account in Patreon, but they've been resolved. It was good that you left in the door adjustment! It was good to see how much, or little difference, changing the position of the bracket made. Where, and how would a chain be attached?
Great Video.. Really nice ladder. Thanks for sharing. Best to you and yours.
Well done. A very “human” install. Big help for my first time
Your video was a life saver!!!!!! Thanks 😊
You are a great teacher
Awesom job, congrats .I will do mine next following your video ''thank you so much :)
I've seen those airbags but not used, wow, very handy.
