Y’all built up my confidence that y’all can do the job with one person. Thanks for taking the time to capture the basics. Really appreciated you pointing out to close the door when installing the drip edge to catch any slight door frame out of alignment.
Thank you so much, I just installed my door. Your instructions were excellent, the weather held me up for several days otherwise it took me like 2 hours before watching your video 4 times👍
Good going. My wife and I just watched your video during our breakfast prior to the installation of our storm door. Very well thought out and good modulation on your voice. Hope our install goes as smoothly as yours appears to have gone. Enjoy the summer.
wow great video. You said it wasn't a "how to" but it really was. That took you a bunch of extra time to video. You could have been done even quicker if you hadn't bothered, but I'm glad you did. Thanks so much!
I just installed the exact same door today and your video was very helpful in my installation. In reference to the pins, for the door closer: each pin has an O ring that fits into the grove on the pin. To install, you remove the O ring, push the pin through and then re-install the O ring in the groove (at least that is the way I read the instructions). That is why you were having trouble pushing the pins through. I don't know what you think, but it seems like a lot of work to change from screen to glass and vice versa. Installing those plastic retainers can be a pain. Seems like they could have a better design.
+Lou Linn Thanks for the info about the pins. I didn't look at the instructions before I installed them and thought they may have been some sort of ant-squeak device. But acting as retainers makes way more sense and is a clever (and cheap) way to keep the pins in place. I haven't put my glass in yet but probably will this weekend. However, when I put the screen in I was thinking that after a few install/removal cycles those plastic retainers could wear out or break. I also agree with you; they are a bit cumbersome to work with. Aside from the retainers, I'm quite happy with the door.
Thanks bro. You had the best video for this installation. They should pay you. Only thing to critique is it was easier to take the o rings off before you installed the pin. Great video man big help
Thank you for this video. My door didn't include the instructions for the door handle and your showing the flipping of the striker was very important and useful information
Love the different bags of screws. Takes the guessing out . . . . Installed one on my door in 2000 when I lived in an apartment, this one looks better.
Thanks so much for your video. It made our installation much easier. You had very detailed instructions, and your voice was very good. I like that you didn't talk about things that didn't pertain to the project. So glad we found this video. Awesome job!
The reason the pin isn't pushing into the closer bracket (4:05) is because you left the little black rubber washer on it, and was trying to push it through that, which clearly it wasn't meant to do. Viewers would be advised to remove that washer first, easily thread the pin through and push the washer back onto the pin on the bottom side. Nice video!
Larson doors sell the handles separately so you can pick the style that your house. And the little o rings fit in the detent in the pins just to keep them in place.
I have the exact same full glass door at both the fron & back, I plan to change the full glass back door for a different self storing storm door because I get total full sun & the wind caught the door & cracked my door jam, besides that, it is a pain changing out the glass for the screen at every season change winter to summer. Another thing, if you have dogs do not use the full screen, they'll go right thru it or tear the screen with their claws.
Great Job. Putting exact door up tomorrow. I was concerned about the weight to hang by myself till I saw you removed the glass. Was there any sag from the glass weight when you eventually installed it? Thx. Steve Plymouth, MA
Great video, thanks! One note: Your lever handles are upside down. The lever's arc is designed to curve upwards to comfortably fit the palm of your hand as you grab the handle.
+Shaun Williams My wife and I actually prefer it the way I have it. We tend to grab the handle with our fingers and the downward curve helps us grip it better. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Ok when did ya put the yellow clip back on the bottom closer? One frame showed it was off when u set the pin in and the door was closed to do the bracket then i saw the clip back on it. When does the yellow clip go back on the closer??
Does it bother you we spend a bunch of money on a great door! The best in the world and they send a striker plate 10 times stronger than tin foil. So is there a work around or a better striker plate? This was the best most comprehensive video I've watched! Thank you for spending so much extra time and care recording this for us weekend warriors!
I've had this door in place for over a year now and the striker plate seems fine - no issues for me. But I do hear what you are saying, it would have been nice if it were a little heftier. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked this video!
Unfortunately my installer was stubborn, refused to watch video, threw out registration sticker on inside of hinge strip, didn't put weatherstripping all the way down, & now tho it's hung, I have to adjust closers( thank you) , but will contact lumber yard, where bought, & have them help straighten door which is NOT CLOSING ALL THE WAY....Also Larson screen was very loose when I opened box. Thank you for your video.
Thank you very much, great video. I like the fact that you went through every step. Almost every video I have watched presents door installation without any comment on what to look out for. I don't know about you but; I don't live in a perfect world and &^%t happens. Very nicely done....
+1 on what Rocko said....very helpful! Larson should send you a consultant fee or something. Ball pein hammer and a punch - impressive! There's a machinist in there somewhere - lol!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm not a machinist nor do I play one on UA-cam. But I've worked in manufacturing for many years and have close relatives who are machinists so I've learned from the best.
i don't recall exactly as this was a year ago now. I also did alot of starting and stopping to set up the video and explain what I was doing. I'd estimate 3 to 4 hours to be safe....less if you are experienced with this sort of thing.
@@SevenFortyOne the client I installed this for today, had to buy the handle assembly separate. I was told they do this with certain door setups so you can get the desired color/finish handle you prefer. Thanks for the reply.
@@SevenFortyOne the one you're holding at 25:17. The "door bracket" as labeled in the instructions. Secures closer to "door" (not frame). Has multiple adjustment holes.
I showed and explained where I put it. I lined up the assembly to the door, made sure it was level and then used a pencil to trace the holes from the bracket while holding it against the door. I Then drilled some pilot holes and inserted the screws. You can adjust the position of the bracket by sliding it back and forth on the screws to change the tension on the closers. I suggest checking the instructions for the officially recommended way to determine placement and attachment of the bracket.
@@SevenFortyOne You did however it would have been helpful to say mount the is attached to the door fully retracted OR with the spacer installed so there is a slight retraction pull. Some might take the spacer off and mount it with NO tension. Then door won't close tightly. I know you can adjust the closer and the bracket. Mine works great. Just thought a bit more detail. Sorry to be critical. Great video.
8 years later and this is still a great helpful video

It's a matter of preference, not a requirement.
After installing 23 Schlage knobs in my house, some I have curved upwards, some downwards.
Thanks for the time/efforts in making this video. Question unrelated to door…what kind and width size is your siding? Love it.
It's mastic quiet willow vinyl siding
How did you remove the yellow clips holding the glass and screen
Excellent video. Well done, Sir!!
Ok when did ya put the yellow clip back on the bottom closer? One frame showed it was off when u set the pin in and the door was closed to do the bracket then i saw the clip back on it. When does the yellow clip go back on the closer??
The yellow clips on the closers are used to make them same length while installing brackets. ( because the closers are different lengths )
The yellow clip allows for continued pulling closed pressure when removed after door bracket install.

Sorry, I don't.

thanks alot was able to install using your video
Very helpful. Thank you.
What's the Jam opening sizes? I tried a 36x80 door but my opening is only 35x80 .... What should I do?
The door mfg should have specs on the package to tell you what size jam it fits. The mfg website could also help

For my door the hardware didn't have lettered bags.AB and C just 3 miscellaneous bags.
And only one closer For your choice of either the top or bottom
you took the spacer out of the door closer, but it was back in at the end was this used to position the the closer
Made in America or assembled in America?
Can I change only the screen?
thanks for sharing 👍
Had it for over a year
Yoooo thank you so much
I just woke up around 7 minutes ago today
good job.
Is that your screen door
Yes
The only problem I had with installation was that it didn’t come with a door handle. It came with the strike plate, etc, but no door handle.
Bummer. I hope they sent you a handle

I accidently stretched the bottom closer and cant put it back I need help aaaaa
Larson doors never have all of parts. Forget about Lowe’s helping you
Looks like someone needs matching hardware for the main door now.... Lol
Shh...don't tell my wife...she hasn't noticed yet
The striker on these doors is very cheap
How the f am i supposed to hang it by myself with the wind blowing. Ahhhhh!
NO one tells specifically WHERE to place the bracket!
What bracket?

I have a screen door
menards has same door, cheaper price.. just has a different name for each door
Yup, and lead times are way out - along with everything else, I guess.
For the money you would think they would be predrilled. Shows how cheap Larson is.
