  • The Temptations got fed up with Motown and left the label in 1977, signing with Atlantic Records. The group's two year stay on Atlantic didn't yield any big hits however, and eventually they resigned with Motown in 1979. Atlantic decided to have the group's debut album on the label totally produced in Philadelphia by songwriters and arrangers affiliated with Philadelphia International Records. In A Lifetime, turned out to be the Temptations biggest hit while on Atlantic as it entered the Billboard chart in November of 1977 and peaked at #21. The song was written by Ronald Baker and future Temptation, Ron Tyson.
