Any thoughts on this video? I really enjoyed figuring out thing to do with the terminal and I may do it more for fun but wondering what other people may want to see or have ideas for.
That's my default style it seems. A big patch for the game just came out so if my friends pick it back up maybe ill be back and able to expand on this idea more. I really like where I was going with it but while I think it's a fun thing to do I don't think anyone I play with would actually use it.
There is but the option for it needs to be turned on by the creator of the game. On the wi-fi component there is a "link to chat" option that cannot be seen unless the host allows it. On the server settings screen when a coop game is made, have the host click on "server settings" and then "anti-griefing" and have them check the option "allow linking wifi components to chat"
There is a problem. Issuing commands from the terminal is too slow. For all usecases shown, "terminal-less" sollutions would be much more fast and relaible: - Fuel level should be just shown on display permanently (and attached to alarm for signaling "fuel low" situations); - Airlock could be triggered via motion detector; - Fixfoam grenades better to be attached to "emergency" lever (and to water detector(s) - to be used only if high pressure - i.e. "hull breached" situation - detected) I'd use terminal more as reporting system (for complex messages, too long for displays and color lamps - like combined device state reports: "comand post - electric devices need repair", "engine critical", "hull breached: ballast 1, gunnery", "intruders: deck 1"), or for tasks which too dangerous to assign on buttons and levers - like self destruct charges activation (i know some ppls who used such contraption for some mistery reasons) Still. Interesting approach to idea.
I 100% agree all these can be done in a much cleaner way that is automated. I personally did all of your points on the ship I was playing with friends on. I started looking into the terminal because I found it odd there was no real use for it by default. From an RP method I like the idea that the mechanic or someone can be on different terminals to check things while staying in their spot. You could have a screen in each room to show all this but the terminal is just cool and fun to use. The best solution I found for this may be this video. It is not a long chain of commands you do and more or less just shows you the information on the terminal or in the chat. ua-cam.com/video/gGyJSkR6m5U/v-deo.html

Keep up the good work :) a bit chaotic but informative.

Is there a way to have the terminal act as a universal broadcaster, allowing typed messages to be sent to all players?
