- Is the Honda CRF300L Rally a good long distance touring bike? Can you travel long distances off-road with a Honda CRF300L Rally? Documents my long distance off-road travels with my 2021 Honda CRF300L Rally to visit a number of mountains in the Cascade range in Washington State.
The route I rode can be found here: www.google.com...
All your videos are top notch.
Most of these kinds of videos are ruined by lots of talking, but you let the scenery and the ride do the talking for you.
Thanks! I wasn't sure if people would like this format so I really do appreciate the feedback👍
Another masterpiece! Love to see the bike being used for exactly what it was built for. I'm doing a 100 mile mountain loop on mine tomorrow. Cheers. 👍
Thanks man! A lot of this trip was on & around mountain loop - The Rally is a perfect fit for this type of riding - have fun out there & safe riding👍
Great video! I use to live in Seattle. I see now that I missed a lot. Thank you........Sal : )
Wow that had everything I love, CRF300L, Drone footage and some incredible scenery, well done 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent. This creator should have thousands of subs. A+
I love this format! Great views plus the drone shots and no chatter so you can put it on the second monitor while doing something else and still enjoy it.
Using a drone for filming such riding is pure magic. So was the scenery too, and the bike isnt too bad either…💪🤘
I really appreciate the nice comment - Thanks👍
Your drone is amazing, it's collision avoidance is outstanding, fantastic cinematic shots. Brilliant.
One word my friend "Awesome"thank you so much for sharing your latest adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it! More to come👍
Beautiful. I'm gonna have to either move out of Illinois or travel to enjoy my 300L. Washington and Oregon along the coast would be awesome.
Washington really is a great place to travel with the CRF300L👍 I'm really looking forward to the Oregon coast ride
Exactly what I needed to see!
Keep creating!
Being a WA guy myself, I really really enjoyed this video. Keep'm comnin'...that's an order... ha ha ha
I'm glad you liked the video! I honestly think WA is one of the most beautiful states in the country, but I'm a bit bias - More videos to come👍
Beautiful! Glad to see a fellow Washingtonian smash these north cascade trails. I absolutely love the Cascade loop and ride there myself on my cruiser (2008 Honda Shadow Aero VT750). These videos really get my fingers itching for a CRF300L Rally! Hahaha happy PNW riding!
This is the second of your vids I have watched. I couldn't help myself, I'm now subscribed. If you don't tell me what your drone is I'll rip up all the toilet paper. Seriously that's one intelligent drone and its tracking speed is amazing. A very unique format for a video and says more than most with less. I know the effort of stopping and starting takes huge time. Awesome vid.
I didn't realize you made similar content when I read your first comment - I've subbed🍻
Watched this after getting home from work. Ahhh put me in a good spot.
I don’t even have a Rally (a CRF450L and a DL650) but these videos are very enjoyable, and very well produced. Cheers!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that🍻🍻 I wish I had a CRF450L - I rode one and it's definitely more capable & fun than the Rally. I could never get pass the service intervals though. Ride safe buddy👍
Washington state has some incredible landscape!! Hope to be there soon!!
Thanks for sharing
Washington is one of the most beautiful states & we have great beer too🍻 Ride safe buddy👍
Truly fabulous filming
Stunning Country
Regards Richard from England.
Stunning part of the country you live in, great vid 👍
Thanks buddy👍
I am now subscribed because of this video.
Great job! 🎉
Beautiful aerial shots.
Maybe stay awhile in some of those places . So beautiful up there . I am suffering mountain withdrawal syndrome , just came back from Lake Tahoe . Had a nice week in such a beautiful place . Didn't bring the bike as we had no room and the roads were risky for my Motoz Tractionator ADV tires . Great video once again .
Great video. Good editing. Enjoyed watching !
Great stuff again. Can't wait to see it up at the Arctic Ocean. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. This channel is like meditation for me.
Your country is very nice, I m from Switzerland ,good vidéo tanks
Outstanding video! I have about 700 miles on mine and I'm loving it! I got rid of a KTM 690 Enduro R for the 300l and do NOT regret it one bit!
Rally or L ?
L I didn’t want the extra weight the Rally. Besides, I also own a KTM 390 Adventure.
Really nicely done. The videography was so good and the music really put it all over the top. A really big thumbs up!
Thanks man! Really appreciate that👍
Awesome thank you! I’m just east of you about 15 minutes so very interested in learning more local rides like this
Superb editing!
great video, love that Honda
Outstanding video, well done, scenery was amazing
Hi there. What an amazing view. I just finished watching the Ïtchy Boots"using CRF250L travelled countries in South Africa. Its inspiring though I don't know how to drive one. Take care and looking forward to your next videos.
Take a riders course they're like 300 bucks or less. They teach you how to ride and you'll get your motorcycle endorsement on your license. It'll change your life even if you only ride on pavement best fun you'll have traveling long distances or around town. Pure fun! 😍
@@Mrdrivereight hi there! Actually I work in a motorcycle manufacturing company. Though we have a MC driving school but I don't really have a courage to drive. Hopefully soon.
awesome! I have a 2019 crf250l rally. cant wait to take her on an adventure like this.
That bike deserves to be ridding on an awesome adventure! Get out there and get it done👍 Ride safe my friend!
absolutely stunning, Thanks for taking the time to film
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it👍
Quickly becoming my favorite co tent and absolute favorite 300 rally video's. Keep making and keep passing the police SLOWLY LOL!
lol can confirm I did not get pulled over :) Thanks for the nice words & positive encouragement👍
What an amazing experience it looks like!!!
Well, that was wonderfully enjoyable. Thank you. Subscribed.
Thanks man👍 I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Greetings,
Superb video, I really need it.🎉🍾🇺🇸
Thoroughly enjoyed that! Thanks!
Thank you man! I appreciate the nice comment👍
Excellent work, Sir!
wow what a wonderfull trip u did..... im sure the rally is the perfect bike for that.. wish i could join and do that too....
wonderfull video, lovely places
Thanks man, I appreciate that👍
Beautiful country and great video! And great bike btw... :)
Thanks as always Rider👍 Glad you liked the video!
Bravo ! Une très jolie vidéo.
Wow that's was great!! What a beautiful place to ride
Great vid and now I'm subbed. looking forward to going thro ur other vids, Keep up the great work!
Thank you sir! I appreciate the nice comment👍
Great vid. Love the drone footage. I had done the Idaho BDR a few years ago on a big ADV bike. Really like the CRF300. Seems like a nice allrounder.
Thanks buddy👍 The Honda has slowly won me over - I really have come to prefer small ADV bikes to the typical 500lb offerings. What are your thoughts on the Idaho BDR? My pulse is that it's not as interesting as some of the other BDR options but it would be useful to get your opinion on it, as you've actually ridden it.
@@TrekEthos I did enjoy it, not very technical for the most part but great scenery and good camp sites along the way. Burgdorf Hot Springs is a must, and the Salmon river was beautiful. I have a vid about it in my channel, feel free to check it out.
Another great video. Liked the VERY SLOWLY
Happy you liked it! Appreciate the nice words👍
Beautiful!!
Great vid epic drone shots and scenery 👍🤟
Thanks man! I appreciate the positive vibes 👍
I've subscribed love what u do with video man its pretty there that 300 looks pretty impressive cant wait to find one living in ms is some ok riding for dual sport lot of country where I live and been seeing bears on my dr 650 I like the fact they don't make alot of noise keep riding and making videos
Thanks man🍻 What are good areas to ride dual sports in MS?
@@TrekEthos Natchez trace and it goes all way to Tennessee is a pretty good one
@@rebeldetail6134 I'll give it a look👍 Thanks for the info
Another fantastic video, you will be getting a film makers prize soon if you keep this up 😀👍🏻
Man thanks for such a nice complement! - I'm definitely still learning how to film, I have a lot more to learn👍
@@TrekEthos hey I reckon you are pretty much there, you’ll be getting calls from Hollywood soon 😊👍🏻
Amazing scenery, highlighted by your awesome cinematic talent. Is the Rally's seat comfortable, or do you need an iron butt to go the distance?
Thanks man🍻 I find the Rally's seat comfortable for about 5-6 hours of riding. That said though I usually don't have issues with motorcycle seats. I'm on my motorcycles nearly everyday, commuting and doing errands so your mileage may vary. Safe riding👍
Great stuff! Beautiful scenery and very well filmed! Subbed. Love it 👍🤙
Thanks man! Looks like you make similar content, I just subbed to your channel🍻
@@TrekEthos Thanks Buddy! 🤙
Amazing scenery!
OK, I wanna ride Washington State now.
Definitely worth it! This video only showcases the northern cascade mountains but misses a whole bunch of other beautiful areas like the pacific coast, the rainforests in Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier, St Helens, deserts in eastern WA, & the Columbia river gorge just to name a few :)
@@TrekEthos I've ridden up through Oregon and hit the Eastern edge of the state and some of the Columbia river, it is gorgeous. Those mountain trails and roads you were on are spectacular!
Awesome video, Thank you! I am thinking about to get a 300 Rally.
Thanks man! The Rally really is a great little bike, 2800 miles and I'm still loving the thing.
Nice route. I’ve ridden on some of those paved roads in a car. Makes me want to move back to Washington, to one of those mellow northern towns north of Seattle. But live in Arizona or Florida for the winter. Unless I had snowmobiles. :).
Man , I have been watchings all your vids, I am going to have to get a dual sport! I am moving to northeast Wa. after the first of the year, I rode a lot when I was younger, it is time to get back into it! LOL
Awesome! A dual sport is a great fit for WA and a good way to get back into motorcycling👍
Awesome I took notes on your locations. I have been looking on maps but finding forest roads etc. has been difficult for me. Will be looking for better maps soon. I finally picked up a 2018 Rally and really like it. :)
Congrats on finally getting the Rally! I actually used google maps for the majority of this route. I switch back and forth between the satellite image, topographical maps, and the baseline map to find potential scenic locations. Safe riding my friend👍
Butler maps work well but are expensive
Great video! Really enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it & thanks for commenting!
Love this video! The scenery is just breath taking!
Also a bit jealous of the miles of offroading you get to do, over here in Belgium there are hardly any non-paved roads that are legal to use a motor vehicle on.
Got my Rally a few weeks ago and still desperately seeking for a legal long offroad route :)
Thanks my friend👍 I had no idea that off-roading is more limited in Belgium! I understand the pain you must be feeling with having to stay on road with your new Rally :) Ride safe buddy!
At least you have the honda 300 rally. Here in portugal we dont get that model.. only the 300L. And we have thousands of kms for offroad riding. Make a trip down here i will ride with you
@@vascoteves funny you say that because if all goes well I need to be in Porto in June for work and was already planning to take the bike.
Maybe I can figure out a way to put my bike on a trailer so I still have some knobbies left when I get there.
Was going to put on road tires to make the trip first but definitely going to look into trailering it to Portugal :)
That would be great. I have a 450 enduro. We should ride .Awesome tracks. I have many tracks on wikiloc. Would love to see a 300 rally up close.
@@vascoteves Sweet! I am looking into ways of getting my bike to Portugal without ruining my knobbies by riding the 2000 km to get there :)
90% sold on buying this bike. I live in Colorado and am 6ft, 200lbs and wonder if you would consider swapping out the suspension for something more robust for my size if adding some camping gear on the regular. Great scenery and riding!
In full riding gear I'm 6' 1" and about 200 lbs as well. The rear shock does have preload adjustment that should allow you to get the proper sag on the bike with your weight + gear. That said though, the suspension is definitely very soft and is not well suited to aggressive riding. I use my bike as a light weight ADV bike and so don't mind the softer suspension on longer rides but ultimately it depends on how you want to use the bike.
Good stuff man looks a lot like my home here in BC. Cheers!
Thank you! A similar trip visiting mountains in BC would be a fun travel idea👍
sweet shots, good job.
Thank you sir
Awsome footage. Well done
Thanks a lot!
No shortage of mountains and views. Thx!
Agreed! Thanks for watching👍
A common sense bike for how you are using it. Itchy Boots is also showing the true capability if this machine.
Wonderful scenery! May I know which drone you’re using for the aerial shots?
Awesome Video work as usual. Thanks for taking us on the trip. I'm envious of the proximity to those trails where you live. The drone footage was perfection as well. Just curious what drone you use, as it doesn't seem to jump around like a skydio. I have a mini 3 pro, but the tracking on a motorcycle is a bit Meh. Rating for vid. . .👍👍
I'm happy to hear you like the videos🍻 I use two drones: a DJI mini 2 and the skydio 2. There's learning curve to using drones in order to get good footage.
As I use drones more, I am much more deliberate about how and where I use them. The skydio offers impressive tracking but is certainly fallible and can crash if you push things too far. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the tracking on DJI drones as I do all of my tracking shots with the skydio. As is usually the case with videos, a lot of the work comes in the edit and post processing of the footage. Anyway, I don't claim to be an expert but that's my honest opinion👍
@@TrekEthos Thanks again for the detailed reply. Yes I understand there is a big learning curve to get good footage. Im just scratching the surface of my mini 3 capabilities. I believe it is more of a photographers drone, however I did do some active track tests in a video I put on my channel. It was Ok, but does limit your speed in tricky environments. Agree 100% with everything you say, about post, etc. 👍
Round of applause for the drone's follow software.
Hi, thanks to UA-cam for suggesting me your channel to me. Excellent videos. How do you hold the RC's drone when you are riding? What drone do you have?
Spectacular. Thanks!
Much appreciated Marco🍻
Awesome video again my friend.. what is your height?
Thanks - I'm 6 feet tall
Love the scenery and the bike shots! What drone ? People have commented this question and I see no reply. Whatever make and model you would be a great spokesperson. I have 2 DJIs and I just don’t believe the autonomous follow me modes work as well as what I see in this video. Keep up the great work !!
Thanks, I use two drones - a DJI mini 2 for the landscape shots and a Skydio 2 for the tracking shots. The skydios tracking ability is the best I've ever seen👍
Dude! Incredible. I did buy a slightly taller windscreen for my 2017 Rally. It's about 3 inches taller and covers my phone which I locate where you put your Garmin.
Thanks! Yeah I could see that - I'm 6' tall and the windscreen is not quite tall enough to completely cover me. The top 1-2" of my helmet is in the air stream. I'd bet the taller windscreen would make the bike even more comfortable at higher speeds.
@@TrekEthos I was going to ask about that. I'm 5'8" so I'm thinking the windscreen would send the air stream over me. What about around the sides? Does it keep the air stream off the body? And oh yeah, the video is great. In the past I seem to recall you use the DJI Mini. In this video the drone seems to be tracking you. The Mini does not have that function. Did you upgrade or do you ride with someone else that helps with the footage? Take care.
Nice video and nice place
Awesome video. Beautiful landscape. Beautiful house. Do you always ride solo? Keep posting videos on the honda rally. Love that bike
Thank you my friend👍 I do mostly ride solo, most people are not interesting in riding motorcycles long distances in my experience. There is definitely more of a sense of adventure and apprehension while traveling solo but that's part of what makes it so exciting & memorable. I do carry an emergency beacon as a safety net though. Ride safe buddy👍
Thanks for your reply. I would love to join you on one of those awesome rides in that area. Would be a dream come true. Your riding style is exactly what i enjoy. Riding aolo does have some advantages. Let me know when i can come and visit!! Ride safw and keep posting!! Thanks buddy
I just need to pass my moto exam for type A license and im getting this baby as soon as possible!
I like how you keep the music low, and put your comments on closed captioning. Great video.
I wonder how the 300 Rally would fare with my 240 pounds on it? I currently ride a Silver wing but want something a bit more gravel road, fire road, ATV trail capable.
Thank you for the positive feedback, I appreciate it🍻 I can't speak directly to how the bike would do with your weight on it. With all my video gear + food + water + me + riding gear I'm probably just over 200 lbs and I have no complaints about how the bike handles that weight. The bike is rated to 326lbs, but ultimately you'd probably need to test ride it to see how it works for you.
You can change out the springs to better suit your weight
I'm 235 and I haven't changed the rear shock on mine yet. I will do it but you can still enjoy the bike on standard suspension if your riding style isn't too aggressive. Only done one camping weekend on it so far but a few extra pounds of camping gear made no difference to handling
What are you using for a drone? I have a DJI mini 2 I want to take out on trips. Sadly it doesn't have follow me mode or sensors but I can still get some good shots I am sure. Nice video.. Keep up the good work.
I use a DJI mini 2 for the nature shots and a Skydio 2 for the tracking shots. The mini 2 is a capable drone that you could do a lot with. I love how small it is too, really works well for motorcycle travel where space is a premium. Ride safe buddy👍
Wow - 300 Rally video -that trail/terrain looks amazing - so jealous as we really have no equivalent in the uk!
Mind I ask what drone you used that keep pace with you so smoothly? Narrative and editing is first class 👍
Man, I am going to get one of these.
Knock-out scenery!
Washington really is beautiful👍 Thanks for watching!
Love the video, what drone are you using, I assume it has follow me tech? TIA...
Thanks man👍 The drone is a Skydio 2 - it has the most impressive autonomous flying/obstacle avoidance/tracking setup I've ever seen.
Great job!
Thank you sir👍
Nice vid
... Thanks for the great video! ... I have the same bike.
What Garmin GPS are you using and do you recommend that model?
Thank you!
. Jeff .
.
Did you have and suspension upgrades before making the trip?
Great video! How do you find about all these dirt roads leading to all those places ?
Just subbed your channel. Great content. Are you still on the factory tires?
Thanks! I've gone through 3 tires now, two on the rear one on the front. I've actually gone back to the the stock rubber. The IRCs are actually pretty good for a 50/50 tire in my opinion. They are also very easy to change, which I like for a potential trail side tube replacement.
Great scenery and video editing skills. Do you always ride solo?
Thanks! Yeah I do ride solo most of the time - most people I know aren't interested in riding longer/more adventurous routes
Amazing video! What drone are you using?
Thanks buddy👍 I use two drones, the DJI mini 2 for the landscape shots and a Skydio 2 for the tracking shots on the bike
I live on the opposite side of the world but ill go for that view. decent
Honestly it's worth dual sport riding Washington if you ever get over here👍 Thanks for watching
Awesome.
Just curious, is that a Skydio your flying?
Amazing video - Thank you. Love the drone footage. Would you see any issues using this bike a daily commuter through the city and explorer on the weekend? Was looking at the 390 ADV but not soo keen on KTM. Thanks
100% Yes you could use the motorcycle as a daily commuter and adventure it on the weekend. That's literally how I use it. I daily commute the honda and I adventure ride it on the weekends - I've ridden it from Washington to Montana (1000 miles) over a weekend. Vid here: ua-cam.com/video/thWnfuf51BU/v-deo.html
@@TrekEthos Thank you. Your opinion is really appreciated. Watching the video now. Much love from Sydney Aus
I’m in Victoria and I got the cheaper 300la. I use it daily for on and off road and I drop bikes to often for the rally 5 3”ish short legs so I can’t stop lol or timberrrr lol. The rally would be even better especially on freeway 110kmh zones here and the fuel tank goes past the 200km mark 28. Km/L average on 6200km so it’s awesome. Also we have alloy parts finally available for protection including front lights. Go and get one YOU WONT REGRET IT I’d look at suspension if you are over 100kg unless staying on road and not trying to race on dirt lol Tyres are sketchy and if it’s wet on dirt good luck
How are you getting drone footage as your riding? Cool video!!
Great video, thanks! What tires did you use in that trip?
Thank you sir🍻 The bike has the stock IRCs on it
Great video, how often did you fill the gas tank?
Thanks👍 I think I filled up two times on this trip & I started with a full tank.
Are your using the stock tires on your adventures? Great video's! I'm hooked!!
Thanks man! In this video I'm running stock rubber all around - I always run 50/50 tires for my type of riding👍
What Drone are you using? (Make model) it is absolutely amazing. I bought my 2021 CRF Rally (September 10th)from enjoying your videos . Thank you for your time, Bruce B.
I use a DJI mini 2 for the nature shots and a Skydio 2 for the tracking shots. I'm glad you find the videos enjoyable👍 Congrats on the new Rally & ride safe my friend
