there was a strange set up for bmx's that used the caged bearings & associated parts from a 1 piece crank install kit, but had square taper axle with threads on both sides to to fit the cones & lock nut but also had 2 piece style crank arms, think it was a skyway bmx it had tuffs on it & was painted blue, nice bike & very light for an 80's bike :)

Carol Grffiths my advice too you would be try some liquid wrench penetration oil WD40 cleaning oil combination and let alot of that stuff soak in to the rusted frozen bike parts
Never fear. The Bikeman for you is no longer here.
I know. Wish he would get another bike shop and make his triumphant return.
Bikeman, thanks for the advice. It worked on my 1977 Schwinn Suburban.

What about when it's rust on paint ??? How can I clean the paint ???
Paint will be ruined it would need stripping and respraying or maybe a bike shop could advise you on this also
I make that sauce. 50% white-spirit & 50% hydraulic oil. couple minuts and all OK
Tioga use to make a sealed American BB
The special sauce is wd40 cleaning oil liquid wrench penetrating oil combination
I`m almost positive its just acetone and transmission fluid.
TheJwdude petrol ( luminous ).
