Dump Trump emissions shouldn’t be a talking point considering what Kawasaki did to meet emissions, like in the 05 zx6r. And people would argue carbs are better just because how easy they are to get power from. I do agree with some of your points, but then again, it’s 200cc bigger. And that’s a big deal in bikes. The 250 is blown out of the water by the 300 by a big difference and just 50cc
Mine goes 132MPH or ~212KM granted the wind was favorable that day and it takes like 7 minuits to reach that speed. I weigh about 150 LBS and was laying down as much as I could.
I have an older 92 and the tec plates are different, cuz the tac goes to 13500, and if i remember right my spidomitor is different too, idk for shure but ether someone messed with mine or something cuz it went faster. Curius to that now
Faya88 My '95 GS500 (made in Spain) will also touch 190kmh ...I thought it was because I always add a thimble sized upper cylinder lubricant to each tank filling ....
+Graham Spink Mine can also get just over 190kph, indicated. on the same flat roads. upper cylinder lube wont make a difference to top speed. These are bikes should last forever when looked after, Ive just done 60000k's
I have a 1995 as well, and have seen around 118 m.p.h. on the speedo, which is not correct, as speedos never are, but, the earlier year models, such as ours, were rated at 52 crankshaft h.p., not the 47 h.p. of later year models. Not sure why the change, other than a different set of carburetors, and a different ignition, they are identical. Mine also has a Yoshimura full exhaust, a K&N lunchbox filter, 40/140 jetting in the 33 mm Mikunis, a V&H ignition advancer, and a 15t countershaft sprocket, for extra bottom end snap. So I figure I'm putting around 45 h.p. to the tires, instead of the 38-39 h.p. of a stocker. Plus, the added aerodynamics of an Airtech full fairing probably helps with top speed. It's not too bad, for what it is. Fun enough for me. The only time that I wish I had more, is on the interstate highways. It's not that the GS won't do it, it's that the engine is a bit busy, RPM wise, at those speeds, for long periods of time, with the 15t countershaft sprocket. But, since I do more country/town riding, I don't want to go back to the 16t, and lose performance. I guess I can't have my cake, and eat it, too !!!!!!
Dude's not even getting close, I've had mine touch 200 (just barely) ... It was downhill, wind in the back, a full fairing and I weigh 130 lbs, but still, fun as heck

Psssh. KpH? Try some wide open American highway, with MpH! Yogi Berra was once asked if they should cut his pizza into eight or sixteen slices. What do you Limey gits call Horsepower over there? Probably something to do with sheep.
rimfa123 Sorry, I was rude. I love the twisties as well, which we have plenty of in and around Baltimore. They don't really cost much more to own or insure here. A 600cc sport bike, or an 877 Harley v-twin are about as small as one can ride, and be taken seriously by some riders. On our admittedly huge highway system, they make sense sometimes. I am seeing a revolution of young hipsters turning wrenches on smaller old UJMs, which makes me happy. Do you have hipsters in the UK?
I just picked up a scragged 1989 E model. Blown engine, the forks look like soup bowls, but everything else looks good. New tires, and a clean new tank! New sprockets and chain. Looking like it's time for a total strip down, sand and paint.

Mateo Coni consuption 5l/100km. You can do 140/150 but it will burn oil at that speed so you will have to check it every time you stop and refill if necesary(surely). The best speed for long distances is 130kmh, In adition, if it is naked, you will have to struggle with the wind. Anyway you can do that journey with this bike.

SPeedos and Tachs often are "off" on this bike it seems. either never maintained or cheap part. maybe little of both. Id trust a GPS Speedo on a cell phone more, then the stock equipment.
Have you ever done any maintenance? It's not normal for a 500cc motorbike to not being able to reach 130 km/h. Check things like carbs, cylinders (see if any cylinder burns oil or something), clutch etc. Anything can be a problem...
170 tacho thats almost 160 real speed new ninja 300 thanks much better aerodynamic and the lower power around 40 hp go 175-178 km/h gps tacho 190 km/h .
who cares for that 20km/h faster bike which costs twice as much to buy and to insure. This is a learnes bike anyways so you only have it that period of 2 years while waiting for unlimited license

GRAN GS 500
Mine goes 132MPH or ~212KM granted the wind was favorable that day and it takes like 7 minuits to reach that speed. I weigh about 150 LBS and was laying down as much as I could.
Off the edge of a cliff perhaps with a good long drop
That wind must be a hurricane to reach 212 on a gs

Not quite sure how a few of these comments are saying there's does 210 plus when the Speedo only goes to 200
There is one more line after 200 which I can only imagine is 210 however I do not own this bike so I don't know
I'm glad I didn't get one now knowing it's top speed. For some reason I thought it would go a lot faster.
What's wrong with the top speed? Do you often find yourself in situation where you're maximizing your vehicle's speed?
@@tappajaav I need to ride at least 220kph to my work everyday (8km commute)
Time is money, and speeding tickets cost money!
Why were cars being passed at 160kmh so slowly.
? I pass cars at 150 and they fly by quickly.
I'm guessing it's a road without a speedlimit
@@mayto420 I think it can be fake, because trucks don't go that fast and he passes one pretty slow. I'd say he's going at 140-150kmh ....
my suzuki gs500 1995 only goes 150, dunno if its because its old, but it is in a very good shape
The 1995 gs500 had less hp !!
I have an older 92 and the tec plates are different, cuz the tac goes to 13500, and if i remember right my spidomitor is different too, idk for shure but ether someone messed with mine or something cuz it went faster. Curius to that now
Im gonna have to look into that because its got a deadspot in the revrange, and the coils have been replaced by f model coils
few weeks ago I had 190 km/h on my '95 GS 500 :)
Faya88 My '95 GS500 (made in Spain) will also touch 190kmh ...I thought it was because I always add a thimble sized upper cylinder lubricant to each tank filling ....
+Graham Spink
Mine can also get just over 190kph, indicated. on the same flat roads.
upper cylinder lube wont make a difference to top speed.
Excited Speedo maybe

isso eh porque tem que trocar o oleo da bengala por motul 15w ou 20w
igual a minha

THE first bike.
agreed, it's my first and my current daily ride
Ditto. Had mine for a couple of months. Currently in hibernation because of some brutal and wet winter weather, but she's a damn good beginner for someone of my stature.
175 km/h is quite fast i think. Normally I drive at 120-150 on motorways.
Psssh. KpH? Try some wide open American highway, with MpH! Yogi Berra was once asked if they should cut his pizza into eight or sixteen slices. Anyway, I freakin' love my GS. 1990 for the most part, with a 2000 power-plant, and an '89 front end. The Yoshi might even be squeezing out a few more HP.

I think hipsters are a mytical raze born in the UK...xD I want a gs 500 so bad im trippin lool

I just picked up a scragged 1989 E model. Blown engine, the forks look like soup bowls, but everything else looks good. New tires, and a clean new tank! New sprockets and chain. Looking like it's time for a total strip down, sand and paint.

Hello how do you walk? I want to know how much maximum can contain the fuel tank in liters. I want to make a journey of 1600 km to 140 150 km / h. With that bike could travel that distance? And how much you spend each 200 km?
Thanks and regards.
I think the tank contains 17 liters
Oh.. I am also interesting how it bears long distances.
Сергей Скопинцев that bike isnt that good for your journey too slow top speed around 160 kmh if u drive it all the time150 the engine will have to rev a little to high... not good for the engine . Take a look at bikes like kawasaki gpz 500 s not the pretiest but its a good one top speed 196 kmh thats better for ur journey
Collin Kreider that with the 160 kmh i read in the internet
Mateo Coni consuption 5l/100km. You can do 140/150 but it will burn oil at that speed so you will have to check it every time you stop and refill if necesary(surely). The best speed for long distances is 130kmh, In adition, if it is naked, you will have to struggle with the wind. Anyway you can do that journey with this bike.
the best I can get is 90mph unless I'm going downhill...
Ikr. Are we doing something wrong?
At 8500 rpm my GS 500 goes at 170km/h, so I wonder why you're at 9500 rpm for 170 km/h, are you in 5th gear?
Borderline it looks like he changed the speedo. when he on ramps to the highway it show 100 he is only going as fast as the car in front of him. it's thoughout the video like that.
So this video is just bullshit?
Maybe.
SPeedos and Tachs often are "off" on this bike it seems.
either never maintained or cheap part. maybe little of both.
Id trust a GPS Speedo on a cell phone more, then the stock equipment.

Poorly maintained.
Have you ever done any maintenance? It's not normal for a 500cc motorbike to not being able to reach 130 km/h. Check things like carbs, cylinders (see if any cylinder burns oil or something), clutch etc. Anything can be a problem...
And if that doesn't help either: Loose some weight 😉😉
A bit disappointing as the old g's 450 1985 did around 160
To be fair, going from 160 to 180 requires the same power increase as going from 133 to 160.
