As someone who has immense childhood nostalgia for zoo tycoon 2 I am really excited for this. I love the micromanaging aspect of these games and was disappointed at the lack of control you have in the most recent zoo tycoon, it does too much for you.
I mean I was worried it would suck, too, but I didn’t go into it telling myself I was definitely going to hate it. I gave it a fair shot and ended up loving it. With Mack’s attitude (and his general taste in games), it’s basically guaranteed he’ll hate it. It’s cool, though. I’m sure it’ll be an amusing review.
What frontier did with the scenery tools in planet coaster was great. To now have animals walking around on the scenery is just amazing programming... they've taken this park sim genre to the next generation imo.
Good video. Just a fun fact hippos cannot actually swim, they simply run on the bottom of the lake. Also this game appears like Zoo Tycoon, which i loved for so many years. Its so good i still play it sometimes. I suppose ill be trying this game out, i just hope it holds up to the hype.

So I've put in a total of 60 hours of right now (18 were in Beta). It is awesome, same complaints and positives mentioned in the video, but the game has some performance issues that effect everyone, no matter the hardware. Once your zoo begins to exceed 1500 guests, get ready for fps dips in everywhere, this gets more extensive if you go on a building spree that covers your entire park. Very CPU bound, and from what it seems, it is an engine issue because it was similar in Planet Coaster. So I don't see this getting "patched", the only solution I can imagine is have a setting that limits the visible guest count.
I think frontier are so smart releasing mini-games for what will essentially be planet biomes within elite. They get to perfect their engine and make money along the way. Planet landings will likely procedurally generate elements perfected in this and their other recent releases. Smart!

I'd argue that in fact the West African Lion benefits the most by having a convenient fast food option , the Lion welcome's Gazelle's , Zebras, Wildebeasts , Humans in it's enclosure , it wants to make friends with them and give them a big hug with it's mouth.
Mack, what about the time speed? I have read that the slowest speed is around 3 seconds for a day. Lots of people have complained that the speed is not slow enough.
Damn, I have that bug near the end you talked about. Every single time I start the game for the first time I have to end task and restart. The second time I launch the game so far it has been working. But it's so annoying. It's so annoying, and it's happened without fail every first time I launch the game. I can tell right away because for the most part the start screen all comes up, except the top right menu options. I hope they fix that soon.
This game was amazing. But the amount of building freedom actually drove me crazy! I spent days on just one big exhibit with an underwater view. You basically learn how to design a level
You can admire your zoo fine. If maintenance is an issue hire more mechanics and / or set their schedule to fix things more and that wont be an issue. Same with building closures correctly. They wont be able to escape if you build it correctly
Mack, will you be doing Red Dead 2 (PC) ? Not least to cover the absoloute shambles that was with the initial release which I put down to their paranoia and so many check taking place that you have to disable your AV (or exclude their files from the AV) in order to make it run. That's how invasive their executable must be. Would love to hear your say on it.

For this game I haven't watched any review but bought it on the day of release. Its a good game, but I think game time runs fast. Not a problem with small zoo, but when you have a big one, things are becoming messy. Though animals look fantastic, sometimes their movements are choppy. But overall it's good game. It looks nice, it runs nice, it has content and you can have fun with it.
I mentioned this in my review, and that's the best part about it. People who have played Planet Coaster should feel right at home, and those that didn't have a huge learning curve to overcome.
This is the one game the woman in Mack's life should have taken over for. The micromanagement that bothered me was deal with staff, having to manually send them to do their work etc. The whole look up what an animal needs and build the habitat part never felt like unwelcome micromanagement to me.
Artistic talent of drunken hippo's ass is what made me lough and immediately smash the like button. I like you and follow you for years now and you are my go to review for any game I am considering playing.
