Rolex presented three new versions of its Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona. In this 4K video we show you all the three versions in 18 carat yellow, 18 carat Everose and 18 carat white gold.
The material which adorns the dial of these new Cosmograph Daytona watches - metallic meteorite - comes from an asteroid that exploded millions of years ago. On the voyage between planets, fragments of this natural extraterrestrial material, primarily composed of iron and nickel, cool by a few degrees Celsius every million years, creating unique, distinctive crystallization within the material that is impossible to recreate on Earth. Metallic meteorite is rare and challenging to work with, but once it is cut into thin sections and a chemical treatment is applied, the great beauty of its interwoven internal structure is revealed. These fascinating and varied formations are known as Widmanstätten patterns.
Depending on the version, the Cosmograph Daytona is fitted with either a three-piece link Oyster bracelet, or with an Oysterflex bracelet, both of which are equipped with a Rolex-designed and -patented Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. These bracelets are additionally fitted with the Easylink comfort extension link, developed by the brand, which allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, for additional comfort in any circumstance.
The Cosmograph Daytona is equipped with calibre 4130, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. The architecture, manufacturing and innovative features of this movement make it exceptionally precise and reliable. A consummate demonstration of Rolex technology, the movement incorporates a chronograph function with a reduced number of components, thereby further enhancing its reliability. The chronograph is engaged by a mechanism with a column wheel and vertical clutch. This enables an instantaneous and extremely precise start to the timing.
The oscillator of calibre 4130 has a large balance wheel with variable inertia regulated extremely precisely via gold Microstella nuts. It is held firmly in place by a height-adjustable traversing bridge enabling very stable positioning to increase shock resistance.
Calibre 4130 has a blue Parachrom hairspring, manufactured by Rolex in a paramagnetic alloy. Insensitive to magnetic fields, the Parachrom hairspring offers great stability in the face of temperature variations and remains up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. It is equipped with a Rolex overcoil, ensuring its regularity in any position.
Calibre 4130 is fitted with a self-winding module featuring a Perpetual rotor, which ensures continuous winding of the mainspring by harnessing the movements of the wrist to provide constant energy. It offers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
The Cosmograph Daytona’s movement will be seen only by certified Rolex watchmakers, yet it is beautifully finished and decorated in keeping with the brand’s uncompromising quality standards.
The precision of every movement - officially certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) - is tested a second time by Rolex after being cased, to ensure that it meets criteria that are far stricter than those of the official certification. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer is of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day - the rate deviation tolerated by the brand for a finished watch is significantly smaller than that accepted by COSC for official certification of the movement alone.
An iconic model introduced in 1963, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was designed to meet the needs of motor racing professionals. Fitted with a tachymetric bezel and a high-performance mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, this now legendary chronograph is the instrument of choice for measuring time intervals or determining average speeds.

They exist! Yes, they actually exist! Alexander has seen them!! These strange _almost mythical_ watches which everyone wants but nobody has the slightest chance of ever buying - or indeed seeing offered for sale in an AD. But they do exist!
Rolex does not have any own boutiques. Rolex is a foundation and "only" meant to be a manufacturer, the ADs are those entitled to sell the watches ... This is THE problem! This is what created this greedy business! A (maybe the only) solution would be to have an official and total transparent waiting list hosted at the Rolex website... The buyer in the end decides who may deliver him the watch for retail price... Rolex can then allocate more or less watches to the waiting list to quicker serve its real clients waiting for a specific watch and not deliver those to the ADs freely ... This would IMHO quickly destroy that actual greedy business...

Much better than wasting your time getting on multiple lists and "building relationships" with different ADs.

Would have been a good idea to mention that this is of course not Rolex’s first meteorite Daytona, as they had a white gold bracelet version from 2000 - 2015 and that’s perhaps why the new iteration is not a white gold bracelet.

Blame your AD for such practices! Rolex manufactures +/- 1,000,000 watches per year, your AD gets enough watches... if you never see them for official lis price something MUST be wrong... Once again: +/- 1,000,000 Rolex watches are manufactured per year ...

Handsome piece bordering on pretty. This is a good size on your wrist. Amazing that they can squeeze all of this into just 1.2cm case height.
In terms of thickness Rolex’ calibres are hard to beat - yes!
Beautiful although I find it really hard to see the actual time on most Daytona’s. A problem I will never have as the religion of Rolex means they never end up in the hands of the average watch collector ☹️ If I was running Rolex I would stop the AD system and only sell them through their own boutique’s. The whole AD system is clearly being abused and watches are obviously being sold out the back door. It’s damaging their brand and reputation and will cost them dearly one day.

I filmed the Daytona chronographs at the Rolex HQ in Geneva… You should never pay a premium when you buy a Rolex! There is an official list-price and this is it… all the rest is greedy business and should not be supported…

I would like to pick one but what's the point it's out of my price range and getting one is slim to none if I wanted one. But they are beautiful watches. Althouse I'm not sure why a rubber strap on an aviation/automotive watch.

I very much like your videos, I think your videos are the highest quality watch reviews on UA-cam.
However, all these Rolex reviews are quite upsetting. These watches are impossible to purchase for 99% of the potential customers and not because of financial reasons, but to the known Rolex circumstances. It aches to see them and knowing most of us will never have one, because we are not good enough for the ADs and Rolex does not seem to do anything to work on this well known issue.

Meteorite is such a cool material for a dial, although I think it works a lot better on the GMT Master II compared to the Daytona, which has subdials that takeaway from the meteorite

These are the same dials! But every Meteorite dial if due to its nature different... you will never see two identical meteorite dials...

This is something that is true! 😜
The Daytona dial is an absolute mess. Back in 1988, when Rolex switched to the Zenith movement (and carrying all the way through to today’s 4131 movement), a 4 Hz frequency is used, meaning the chrono hand moves in 1/8-second increments, but the dial is indexed in 1/5-second increments. So even though Rolex claims that one can measure elapsed time down to 1/8 second with the Daytona, it’s not true because the dial can only give readings down to 1/5 second. So the movement is out of sync with the dial and the chrono hand will never line up with a 1/5 second hash mark. Rolex should either eliminate one mark between each second to allow 1/4 second readings (and allow the 4 Hz movement to be in sync with the dial) or keep the existing dial and regulate the movement to 5 Hz, allowing the movement to be in sync with the the existing dial. Additionally, the minute sub-dial is shit. The 10, 20, and 30 minute numerals each block out three minute hashmarks, potentially giving the user a difficult time reading the elapsed minutes.

Black subdials, black bezel and meteorite dial is the perfect combination.
Shame it only comes on the white gold in that combination. Hopefully the yellow and rose gold versions get that combination one day.

Can you see the difference of the cases? The yellow gold and the steel Daytona (what is not presented in this video) are the only One’s with a same Slimmer case.
The rose gold, the Platinum and all models on straps have a much thicker case. The difference is quite big. Would like to know, what is the reason for it. But nobody talks about and Rolex don’t tell the story why
they all have the same case dimensions ... The difference is the color and how the color lets something appear and maybe the bezel ...

The steel as well as the yellow gold bracelet variant are asymmetrical & slimmer, while all other models are completely different and have a symmetrical shape. take another closer look. Thank you for you’re interesting video.

Don't blame me ... don't blame Rolex! Rolex manufactures 1,000,000 watches (!) per year and delivers sufficient watches to its ADs. But only the ADs decide who buys a Rolex ... So ONLY blame the ADs not to sell their Rolex watches to (their own) flippers and (own) resellers through the back door and therewith dramatically increase the margin of these watches, but instead to honest clients for the list price walking into the front door... It is a shame, it is a greedy business!

This is what created this greedy business! A (maybe the only) solution would be to have an official and total transparent waiting list hosted at the Rolex website... The buyer in the end decides who may deliver him the watch for retail price... Rolex can then allocate more or less watches to the waiting list to quicker serve its real clients waiting for a specific watch and not deliver those to the ADs freely ... This would IMHO quickly destroy that actual greedy business...

@@WatchAdvisor Yes I’ve been hands on with the dummy watches at a Rolex event a few months back. They are amazing, the Daytona 2.0. Interestingly, the reaction from everyone was different, some preferred the everose gold, but everyone was in agreement that they looked fantastic. However, the Rolex ambassador that was present was clear in saying that they are going to be remarkably rare.

It seems to me that the new Rolex meteorite dials are not as pretty as the previous ones, made of the Gibeon meteorite.

@@WatchAdvisor yes, i own one. In addition the previous rolex also had gibeon pieces. The stripes are well defined and straight on the gibeon. Unfortunately it is not possible to get new pieces anymore.
