Do you have a trick for getting those tough summer bites?

Swimming a jerkbait fast seems so counterintuitive and opposite from what i normally hear with the theory that bass slow down and go deep to relax. Glad to hear that works as I'll be on vacation next week at a lake house. Ill be teying the mojo rig too. Thanks for all your help.

Today I got 9 bass on my river. I got a Smallmouth, Rock bass and the rest Largemouth. Biggest was 16 inch Largemouth on a watermelon candy wacky bps stik-o. They been hitting 6th sense divine paddle tail swimbaits on a bps speed shad head, wacky rigs, shakey head, and a green pumpkin swim jig with a rage menace grub trailer rigged vertical like a bluegill imitation the most. Got some on crankbaits and poppers also last week!

I use a shad color jerk bait or crank bait in mornings over long points and off shelves. Then is at slow Texas rig tube or creature bat slow and a curly tailed purple worm on a Carolina rig off the points or drop offs.

I been using a small spinnerbait near docks and caught a few crappie and some small bass. At least I'm catching something.

Sometimes going smaller can be the way to go!

That's funny because the crappie in my GFs family pond are bigger than the bass I catch on a spinnerbait

Love the H2O jerkbaits! Loss my last one just before summer after killing it in spring. Sadly, I discovered Academy doesn’t ship to cali smh. So bummed out.

what spinning rod do you usually use for a jerkbait?

I like a 7 ft medium power. I like how it feels and the control it gives me.

I never had much luck with a jerkbait but I am trying to use it more. Caught some fish but I'm still learning.

I like a rebel spoonbill minnow at the end of downed trees, but I don't cast too close because I don't want to get hung up, but I still like to fish the bottom part of the limbs under the water that you can't see. Good luck.

Nice, but how do you get those bass waiting at the end of the bluegill beds to bite after they've fed all night?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  2 місяці тому +1

You put a nugget right in front of a bass' face, they'll generally go for it. Most times even if they've already eaten. The trick is to give them exactly what they are looking for.

It’s so true. Some of the biggest bass I have ever caught had the slightest bites. They just vacuumed up the lure and didn’t move. That definitely taught me to set the hook on anything that didn’t feel right.

My PB was the same way. I thought I was snagged. Then the stump started moving, lol!

I generally avoid thick grass because it's a hassle from the bank. Gonna use these tips and try fishing more grass.

I stick to flukes, top waters and Texas rigs because in the summer it looks like a corn field under water with how match vegetation there is.

I found trolling with spinnerbaits and umbrella rigs fairly deep works because of cooler temperatures down deeper.

I always get big bites with a swim jig in the Summer! But, I rarely swim my swim jig other than to retrieve it for the next cast. I have great success casting it out, letting it fall to the bottom and then using a series of drags, hops and stroking to draw reaction bites. Most times they take it on the fall even though it's only a 1' fall. It works great and catches them when other baits wont draw a reaction.

Those look like some juicy spots! Just because it's not near the shore doesn't mean the bass can't use it for shade and shelter. Some of my favorite honey holes are offshore.

Bass will relate to places that make them feel most comfortable, whether close to the bank or far offshore!

Why is it that almost all youtubers have tackle up the wazoo, 14 poles, 14 reels, nets, every roll of line ever made, boats of a coupe of choices, yet no one can afford or at least bring a fish scale, and pease dont tell me you are so good at guessing that you dont need one, Most of your guesses, I would wager the farm on being wrong, just seems like a simpe and inexpensive tool that wouls aid in your video's

    • @LowBrowFishing

I have a digital scale with me at all times. A good one. And yes, when you catch and weigh hundreds of fish, you get good at guessing. In the video about the baby Carolina when I said that fish was 3 lbs, I weighed it and it was 2.95 lbs. But I always edit that part out. I would be happy to post the entire unedited video of that catch if you would like. I have many, many such videos.
