This clip contains footage from their 20th anniversary show. This song premiered on this show, no one had heard it before. It was a big surprise. “Alchemy project” is a mini-album where each song is a collaboration with musicians from other bands, a very cool album where they were able to very coolly combine a variety of metal subgenres. and yes, saxophone metal is cool 👍
First time sax has been used in an EPICA song. The Alchemy Project is their 7 song EP of collaborations, released late 2022. Jorgen Munkbey is the sax player and vocalist, he is the frontman and multi instrumentalist from the Norwegian band Shining, and only constant member. This song was live debuted at the EPICA 20th anniversary concert , Sep 2022. A lot of the footage you see is from that show, hence the "Cirque Du Soliel" type extras. "That's Cool". lol That is Coen Janssen's portable keyboard, a commercially available REVO-1 Curveboard made by Nu-Motion in Montreal Canada. If you want a closer look at it, try "Code of Life" live in Amsterdam 2023 at AFAS Live., (same show you saw "Unleashed" from).
I saw this concert live as it was broadcast around the globe. It was encredible. This was only the second time ive heard a Sax in a Hard Rock/metal song. THe first was Shelter me by Cinderella. Both worked.
Hey Bill , it’s been a while, but good to see you back with Epica, you can never go wrong with them. I was at this concert, it was their 20 years anniversary concert and it was awesome 🤩 🤘
Well....this song is from Epica's latest Project "The Alchemy Project". "The Alchemy Project" is a unique collaboration featuring 13 bands and musicians who co-wrote and performed the seven new tracks with the Dutch symphonic metal titans. Funny story,...my grandfather is a saxophone player (The sexiest music instrument Ever, I might add), and the moment when I saw this song, I immediately ordered the whole album!!! Usually I never do that, but hey, it's Epica and it is a Damn Good Album 🤘😎🤘!!!!! NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut.
I take it you haven’t seen the curved keyboard before? Try Code of Life live from AFAS, or Dancing in a Hurricane live from Zenith. The keyboard is a REVO 1 Curveboard from Canadian company NuMotion.
Epica is always good for surprises. In the concert for the band's 10th anniversary, they performed a piece from an opera in the middle of the concert ua-cam.com/video/nhtOORYTGx8/v-deo.html
I always like Epica but this one was something special. Loved the guy's voice and I think that if there is a band called "Shining" they might be an interesting listen.

Thank you for the great info my friend! Yeah, I've never seen a keyboard like that. Amazing! I appreciate the recommendations! 🤘❤️🤘
The guest singer/sax player is from Norwegian band, Shining.
I think I must dive down that rabbit hole as well. Thank you!

I would definitely like to check them out! I really loved this tune as well. Acrobats, sax solos, dancers, Simone's voice! Wow!
