This is the same sort of solenoid setup that ice machines use. I've had success disassembling and soaking the plastic parts in vinegar, citric acid, or CLR to dissolve scale buildup. If you're having trouble with it leaking or not working correctly. Often you can get it to work fine without replacing anything, just cleaning.

Good video. Mine I have had for 4+ years. I will be taking it apart later to check where its leaking. Main reason I bought this one, after using those little 1 gallon ones for a few years, was the serviceability of it.

These are built well for 24/7 distillation of tap water. They degrade faster with harder water due to PH and carbonate buildup.

Great video, now I understand how this distiller work. I was able to troubleshoot my own.

These Dura-still units are awesome. People often dump them due to a bad inlet valve solenoid, rusted limit switch and/or a leaking lid seal. Only a few controls and they work for years when decrusted often. I still have two in pieces that need new heater coils and one needs a new case seal for the boiler opening.

I picked on up 30j for $100. Solenoid was shot. Anyone now of a part number for a replacement rather than paying $59 for durastill part #45001?

@@devinmccloud Score! I just paid $1200 for the unit plus 4 gallon tank. Only had it a month and the inlet valve is leaking. Not at either of the connections, seems to be coming from the plastic diaphragm assembly.

What valve/coil did you have to replace? Mine is heating, fan comes on, intermittent water switch works, no water is made.

What gauge wire is used? I need to replace some after the float gasket failed. TYIA

What is that on off valve you have on your sink?

It is a 1/4" compression adapter/diverter for RO systems. I had a 90G reef tank for years and had the RO system connected to it.
