      Great start, hopefully you guys will bring these two on several more trips?
      The LC seems to have far better articulation, at least in the rear? I guess it's not strange since it has live axel in the rear..... but would be nice to see when this advantage really gets to shine as well as seeing more of how the Y62 (not particularly off-roady it seems) would tackle those spots?

      Mechanic here please don’t. The transmission in these things are made by jatco which is Renault. The timing belts go on them constantly the heads are shit and after about 30000 k they poss oil out like crazy. They are one of the worst cars I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a shame because Nissan is what inspired me to get into cars in the first place but now they aren’t Nissan they are Renault and shit

    • @68404
      @68404 4 роки тому +11

      @@grantmctaggart9942 Actually, JATCO is a Japanese transmission manufacturer, of which Nissan owns a substantial portion. Yes, Renault and Nissan have shareholdings in each other but Renault has no engineering input into JATCO. Anyone who owns a Patrol knows how tough the gearboxes/transaxles etc are (which are manufactured by JATCO.
      The VK56VD V8 in the Patrol is a Nissan product, designed by Nissan, and built by Nissan in Japan. Renault doesn't make V8s, or use this engine in any of their vehicles.
      Put your prejudice to one side Grant. I get it, you don't like Renaults. You probably have never worked on one but that's ok. If you ever get the chance to drive an RS Megane or Clio on the track, do it. It may open your eyes to French engineering.

    Great vid mate and you certainly know how to capture the best angles for these sort of comparisons, we are planning two more Y62 v 200 battles in the next month or so , so I'll be sure to invite you along again. Was such a good day and a really nice bunch of blokes that came it was truly a good spirited comparison and everyone made sure it was as equal as possible, both V8 petrol, both 2inch lifted, both fancy Hydraulics and although the 62 had 1 inch larger tyres this difference was eaten up by the side wall advantage the 200 had over the 20" rims the 62 had.
    There will always be brand loyalists that even in night and day results will still promote/advocate for their brand though all we/AFW can do is try and create as equal platforms as possible to test similarly appointed trucks.
    If it's any consolation the Y62 driver had only 8 months of off road experience at the time of this shoot (4 of those on touring/fire trail type stuff).
    Again great job AFW and thanks for continuing to out our great content.

    It would appear that both of these vehicles did pretty well there, with no one coming out with an absolute hands-down win. I suspect that the driver skills and knowing the vehicle has a lot to do with it, as things do get easier if you know what you can expect from your vehicle. In the end i would stick to my preference for the Nissan, but the Cruiser is in no way an inferior vehicle. The fact that the Cruiser had it's wheels spinning now and then does not make it an inferior off-roader. My old Willis would have been spinning there much better, and it had the bare minimum that i needed. Yet it would have made it through that obstacle course, maybe with a bit more spinning, sliding and such, but who cares. The trip is meant to be fun, not a thing of "i got better wheels that you".

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  5 років тому +1

      That's it bud 👌 it's about going out there and having fun with friends. In the end, it's good to see a comparison like this one. In this case, it proves that having at least one locker is better than traction control, as wheel slippage is needed to activate it, which can be easily seen in this video. Pity that Toyota is such a tightass and couldn't include at least one factory locker. Happy wheeling bud 👋

    Were they both as stock as they looked? What I would find interesting is whether anyone has done a fuel economy comparison while driving these together like this. I’m not saying this as a fan boy of Toyota, but as someone who is genuinely weighing up the two and how much extra fuel the Nissan uses in touring and off-road (not when towing a large van) compared to the LC 200 does figure into it. The Toyota is more expensive and has expensive injectors and DPFs that are going to cost big money at some stage, but if you are sucking down enough extra premium unleaded that gets negated over time. Does anyone take note on theses trips how much extra fuel is going into the different cars when travelling in convoy like this?

So the patrol has all independent front and rear suspension with double wishbones and shockabosorbers. So that means IFS and IRS have much more agility than the rear live axel in land cruiser hence the patrol performs better. Nissan has HMBC While toyota has KDSS. From this vedio I think HMBC is better. As I 've driven the LC200 and wad driven in a patrol I can say the patrol y62 is more comfortable and quieter to travel in. But I am not aware of the durability though as IFS/IRS i feel is not as durable as rear live axle. The lc200 uses IFS (independent front suspension) but the rear is live axel. @chiragsomaraj5121 5 років тому

      @@mikemiloshis772 no I doubt if it raises the height if the car! The more flex gives better traction at awkward angles during off road situations. Although I did see another vedio in which land cruiser had more flex than the patrol. The land cruiser I assume has ride height adjustment but That's only the v8 5.7 available in gcc. This is the diesel so I don't think it has. The lc200 in gcc is much more expensive than the y62 patrol. The base model v6 lc200 and the base model LE v8 5.6 patrol are same price here.
