My love for the Torana is no secret. Both my parents used to tear around the town in them. Dad had the. A9X although he sold that but ended up with an slr, mum had one of them too it if might have been an lc, was canary yellow. She got down graded by dad because she kept rallying the fuck out of it with us kids in the back. Awesome childhood.
I first met Shaun at a 4x4 show in Brisbane 6 years ago. We got to chatting about Hilux's and met for coffee that night. We went for a walk in the park, talked about wheeling, held hands and watched the sunset. Shaun is an amazing guy and I will never forget that day.
Learnt something new about Shaun....he has a very nice taste in aussie classics 👌 nice to see that the outside wasn't molested, just simply modernised the running gear to make it actually something that can be dallied and turn heads bringing smiles....nice work
Being a 4WD UA-cam channel myself. I had to laugh watching this video. My Sheds are on the left hand side of Superformance and remember seeing this car on and off. Had no idea it was yours Shaun lmao...
Nice car. Being a bit of a Ford fancier, I reckon these are the most iconic Holden ever. Who would've thought that a die Landcruiser loving 4WD legend would have such a toy as this, sneaky bugger!.
Absolutely awesome Shaun... I'm like you love my 4wds but have a passion for muscle cars.. I once had a XC 351 Fairmont GXL that had all the good gear, my God it had power... Good stuff mate.
So what sort of cost are we looking at for this type of build. I'm also looking for a restored Torana but they are hard to find and the cars on Carsales are a bit rough or not restored in the right way.
Never knew Shaun was into Aussie mucsle cars. I had a chance to buy a green and black one of these from my friends cousin about 20 year ago for about $3500, needed a bit of work but was still pretty clean overall with a 253 etc...still kicking myself for not buying that one
Gotta love a torana . It has always been my dream car and 6 months ago i found a Lh sedan with a 355 motor a t5 , 5 speed and a 9 inch diff , orange with big old school hot wires . And like yours sat for 10 years and the reason was the ice ignition was not earthed properly and never performed on all 8 . Six months of perfecting all its previous owners poor problems its finally ready for the road
Looks like a Chevy Vega or Monza. Saw something about 4 Vega’s sent to Australia “Vega’s lost cousin “? Any hooskie he drives his car like he drives his Toyota lol.
I purchased slr 5000 back in the day for 2k had 9'' diff worth that much ,i stuck i stinking hot 327 400hp and Muncie 4 speed in it ,145klm in second gear burning the back ties into 3th

A lot of family Torana history there. They are a much loved locally built Car. Sadly we do not make any Cars locally anymore.

This comment took an unexpected turn.
@@veneratedmortal4369 Thank you VM. Life is an adventure. Don't hold back.
Hahahaha 😅
Don’t lie Steve, plus, I could do better 😂😂
@shaunwhale2616 U said all Aussie made does that mean ford parts as patrol parts in your cruiser 😅😂😊
I watch 4wd 24/7 and never knew this about Shawno....awesome absolutely awesome!! Love it
More to come!

He changed all the running gear, brakes and suspension. It goes hard and steers and stops like a late model Car.
The fabrication and engineering underneath looks top notch! The hotwire wheels and recaro interior are peak! So good!
It has come up a treat for sure.
I love the A9X Torana. 😍
Most do an iconic Aussie Car
Different colour choice and a set of Indy champs and that is my dream car. Loved driving the LX SS when I was a teen.
Old Skool Indy Champs are very kool. Collectible now.
@@superformance4147 yeh rare to see a set these days
You finally found a decent Car! I had one when I was 19, 1992. Awesome vehicle.
Right on! 2WD is the go for Highway use.
Being a 4WD UA-cam channel myself.
I had to laugh watching this video. My Sheds are on the left hand side of Superformance and remember seeing this car on and off. Had no idea it was yours Shaun lmao...
Its a great Car.
fkn awesome love the fact it has a holden motor no ls,they are music even at idle
There is something about the Exhaust note on a 308 for sure. Hard to beat.
Ya gotta say, Sean has good taste in vehicles. That’s a beautiful Tirana, and the dirty 30 is well cool too 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺
Its a great example for sure.
Nice car. Being a bit of a Ford fancier, I reckon these are the most iconic Holden ever. Who would've thought that a die Landcruiser loving 4WD legend would have such a toy as this, sneaky bugger!.
He loves old Classic Aussie Cars.
When you see a bloke as happy as this, that’s all that counts. Enjoy mate.
He loves it.
Great build! Great Torana! Sounds great! 👌🏻👌🏻
Cannot beat a 308 based V8 Sound.
Sounds great enjoy Shaun, you need to share this stuff know you have a Monaro too
Yes please!
Great car build. Thank you.
Glad you like it!
Awesome Shauno... never knew?.... I've got an 200 series (which i"ve been to hell and back with), VF 2 redline ute and an V2 GTS Coupe and i love em
Classic
What a great car, great video. Hope to see if up north at car show's.
I hope so too!

Wow Shaun is into Torana's! Would never have guessed. My place is also full of Torana's and 4x4s
Half your luck. Toranas are much loved.
Great job guys
Thanks for your kind words

Its best to call and speak with Rob on 07 34887888
Looks identical to my hatch👍
You are one lucky guy.

We have all regretted not grabbing a bargain.
I also love muscle cars and love 4x4 as well

Great to hear that you kept at it and it is now ready to drive. They can be a challenge at times.
Shuano said many moons ago that he would never own a 2wd but this is different
I remember when he said that. Way back in the DVD days.
Nothing wrong with a tough 2WD
@@superformance4147 not at all
Got my first car in 1990 Paid 2500 . LX 1975 hot 202 with all the chrome. Then swapped to four barrel 253.
Hopefully you still own the Car ?
@@superformance4147 sadly i swapped for a series 3 landrover lol Owned many cars though Lc torry, Galaxies. fj ute. r33 180sx many more
seriously jealous - right down to keeping the 308/4 as a stroker!
It is definitely one sweet ride.
Good one shauno very nice😁
Glad you enjoyed it
Had an LX hatch 4 speed in the 80’s, have to respect the handling but was a heap of fun
The handling and braking is now like a late model out of the Showroom.
so cool
for sure
Looks like a Chevy Vega or Monza. Saw something about 4 Vega’s sent to Australia “Vega’s lost cousin “? Any hooskie he drives his car like he drives his Toyota lol.
It is GM based but an Australian built version.
What gearbox are you running big fella ? Top build ?
Its a Turbo 350 automatic
Shaun, can you bring it to the Noosa Classic Car Show which will be held in Tewantin on Father's Day.
Its best to ask him on that.
Not bad for a 100k mate 🍻🤙
4 sure
Bloody hell, my missus would already leave me for Shauno. Now I'm done for 😅
The Ladies love him. For sure.
Does he still have the ht monaro he bought from 782 motors?
Unknown sorry
nice work, wheel fitment/suspension needs work, its tough to get wheels fitting well in the flares.
Yes, true
Who would have thought that Shauno is not just one dimensional
He appreciates road cars and off road that is for sure.
Those wheels are fuckin sick. They pop
Thanks we like them as well.
whats the power steering rack?
Flaming River as used on all our Front Ends.
I really want a torana to and a land cruiser as well as a hilux so cars i my thing and I love that torana
Everyone loves a Torana.
Oh wow, I didn't think Shaun went above 90 kmhr LoL
He can Steer a Car not sure that 90 km /hr bothers him.
Anyone know if his still got the hk monaro
Unknown.
That car is mint! We really lost something when the last government closed down our car industry.
Definitely
Living the dream
Yeah for sure its a great Car
Need the bossis rig to come see ya u guys slr5000
Just call and ask for Rob on 07 34887888
Amazing build. Wouldn't of been cheap
Wouldn't have been cheap.
Unfortunately quality is always at a cost.
One word
Awesome and I am a Ford man
Everyone loves Old Skool Muscle.
Hahah that’s so sweet
it sure is
Noice!
It certainly is.
Come on Shauno
What about the Dirty 30
That could still be high on his list of favourites.
The sound on the mic is horrendous. Tough car.
We are good Car Builders and not great Editors.
Double dare you to reveal the cost of the work, bet you could have got an original A9X for what you have spent.
A lot more fun than a stock car.
He also owns a Monaro
Has a passion for GM as well as Offroad.
Straight to Mexico
A cartel car ?
Need to lower it, it's not a 4wd shuano 😅
Its as low as we can go to give 100mm clearance at the front
Surely they werent auto back in the day?!
Option of Manual or Auto back in the day
looks like a ford 9 inch diff
Spotted correctly. GM Diffs are notorius for failing.
Nice way to spend 150gs
Not near that
its only got 2 pedals sooks cars lol sorry mr whale lol
Auto is a bit easier in built up areas but not as much of a challenge to drive.
@@superformance4147 lol because it's hard to put your foot on a clutch pedal lol ...
Grouse.
Definitely.
Only girls drive 4x4
Muscle cars are for real men
Thats for sure.
The money this bloke has is disgusting.
He works hard for it and is never home.

We bet you wish you still had it.
2:18 Nice dent in the grill surround
Its a driven Car. Not a Show Car so yes has a couple of little imperfections.
