  • In the UK and maybe in other countries as well, you need to register the vineyard with the relevant authorities, if:
    1. The vineyard is over 0.1 hectares (1/4 acre)
    2. The vineyard is to be used on a commercial basis irrelevant of size.
Fortunately the process is free and I found two sites to be particularly useful.
Firstly you need to calculate the area of vineyard and for this I used, Calc maps that can be found here www.calcmaps.c...
Secondly the form that you need to submit is found at the food agency website here: www.food.gov.u...
It is not too onerous and once done you can forget about it and get on with your new vineyard.

Here in the states, we don't have to do anything. However... you have to fill out paperwork and be approved/licensed if you want to sell the wine made from the grapes. If your vineyard s for personal use... nothing needs to be done.

Hi there. We do bureaucracy very well here in the UK. If there can be a form to fill in, you can guarantee 5 more will follow shortly. Yes we too need licences and courses and premises checks if we go on to sell alcohol. I may struggle to persuade the authorities that my crop is all for personal use but then again I could build a larger cellar!! 😀😀

It is similar in Serbia. More than 0.1 ha is registered in the vineyard register. The only thing is that after the registration, they come to check the GPS coordinates in the vineyard, they also enter the type of vine

Here in Minnesota, USA, we barely have to fill out a one-an-a-half page form to buy a semi-automatic weapon that you would feel comfortable in a war-zone with...
However, no forms need to fill out here to grow anything, but if you are making alcohol for wine (which I'm not) to sell, then there are forms and licensing that you have to fill out. For personal consumption, there is no forms or licensing at all.
Since I am a beekeeper, keeping my own bees on my property, outside of city limits, there are no licensing issues, unless you're crossing state lines (which I don't). Then there is *a lot* of forms, licensing - if you're crossing state lines for pollination, and the fines can be high if out of compliance.
Thank you for your video. Next year will be my first year in building a vineyard.

Probably important for disease control, and advisories.

Vineyards in France must also be registered with the local Préfecture. Additionally, any agriculture holding owned by non-nationals in France need to be registered with the Ministry for Agriculture who, under rare circumstances, could deny the registration (denials are very rare indeed, though).

@mycountrylife810 lol. It did sound harsh 😂 and I didn't mean disregard to the "cause"! But I mean why should I?
I'm not selling. I'm eating and drinking it. I just enjoy it all.
