- Protecting your valuable vineyard from rabbits, deer, sheep and other hungry animals is really important if you are to keep the fruits of your labour.
In this video I show you what we have done so far to protect our vineyard from animal intrusion.
I used the following items:
Tubular Vine rabbit guards from www.vigoltd.com
8 ft x 3inch stakes - these were from an agricultural supplier, but we treated them with creosote.
Standard Stock netting 900 and 1200mm high amzn.to/2XQxLs1
Chicken/Rabbit netting. 25mm hole 900mm height
Deer Netting 6ft high
So far we have been ok at keeping the pesky animals out of the vineyard. A future video may follow if we have to update our protection to keep the birds or possibly squirrels at bay. So watch this space for any updates concerning this.
This is the best, and consequently, most underrated series on starting a vineyard I've watched. Many thanks from across the pond!
You are very kind. Thank you. Will be posting lots more when the weather turns. Cold and wet here at the moment.
It would be wonderful to get a drone view of vineyards every month to get an idea of the growth. Thank you
That's a great idea. I shall get my thinking cap on.
useful information and a very nice host, nice to watch 👌😊
Excellent videos. It is always worth contacting you local branch of the British Deer Society when it comes to animal management.
Thank you for sharing. Your videos are amazingly comprehensive.
What kind of sheep are those? Beautiful.
The deer wont jump over they will go through that fence. I learned this leason for you the hatd way
Awesome videos series.
Got the whole life cycle and understanding.
Please make some videos on which type grows better in what conditions ?
Thank You. Good info
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, thanks for the videos. I don't see any on irrigation. How do you water?
Hi Andre. You are quite right. We are going to see how we get on with our water bowser but if that’s too much hassle we’ll have to put in irrigation. If the roots go deep enough we can probably rely on our fairly damp climate. We shall see and keep you posted.....
@@mycountrylife810 Thank you!
Do you have any problems with birds?
Hi there. Not yet, but we did put a kite bird scarer and that seemed to keep the birds away. From a distance the kite, that was meant to look like a bird of prey, did look quite realistic
Wait, that looks very green for not being summer
Hi Jeffrey. It's January, I promise.
@@mycountrylife810 I believe ya, just jealous of your beautiful weather 👍
rats and squirrels are the worst!
Cry me a river
you are still talking about skiing when people who use scions are scientists. A psychic would know how to pronounce the name of the plant material added to a rootstock. nice to get right when there are 10,000 people who will watch and start saying it wrong too.
