That handle is funky but I can see why its made that way for comfort grip! Hi Unnnni!!!! Shes such a beautiful pup Tim, always great to see her...you just need to teach her how to be your cameraman now mate Lol! Always takes a bit of practice with these things I feel now, learning curve with every brand!! I have to admit I got a little obsession going now with collecting these, go figure as some can be pricey lol. I have 4, my best one(no kidding either) is the fire fast kamper model(I will send ya the link to it on amazon ok mate). Looks great, awesome review man!!!
A lot more Unni on the next video. I could definitely strap a go pro to her😂. Light my fire is by far the most popular brand of ferro rod here in Europe. They are good but expensive. This Finnish one is better but probably a little more expensive too.
@@KuukkeliBushcraft Good cause we enjoy seein her! Man thats a good idea Tim with the gopro lol, a look at unnis world. And yea mate some of the ferro rods here are pretty dam expensive too as i showed u lol
You can get it shipped from Lamnia, didn't you say you wanted a M95 too? I would definitely rather buy something made here in Finland rather than made in China. It does seem to be comfatbke to use and effective too. Thanks for watching Jay.
Nice to see it in pic where i get a grip of its actual size /proportions like length of the rod. One thing im interested is how will the handle survive a drop from hand on the hip, to solid ground when you have carried the thing so long that its frozen at winter, as ive had frozen Kupilka cup handle ends gone in pieces in subzero temps after very modest drop on solid. But it was like decade ago and it might be that molds etc have been altered to get stronger products. I like Kupilka brand a lot but ive stuck on the type of rod which Light My Fire uses due to different spark type requiring less heavier strikes. Just a preference here👍. Btw, what are you doing at augusts first week?
We use kupilka kuksas on the husky safaris, they seem pretty durable nowadays. The problem I have often with ferro rods is the handles coming off after some use. The rod itself sparks just like a light my fire. Really does feel like the same rod. Maybe I would change my mind if I used them both together, but pretty dam close. First week in August? Working probably, can always ask for time off. What's happening the first week in August?
@@KuukkeliBushcraft For what i know and think, theres a ton of firesteels made by just simply pressing and glueing the rod to handle, and even if its good epoxy used, if the rod is too smooth and hole too, well theres just drip of glue holding a rod in short hole, and then temperature and humidity changes, combined with the stress bending+pulling the rod on every stroke will eventually either crack the handle around hole or just make the rod pop out. Thats why i make sure when making my own firesteel handles, i make the hole walls rough and file shallow grooves on the rods end so epoxy forms sort of wavey mechanical filler joining the parts, if i dont crossdrill both the handle and rod and peen a rivet pin through them. But, often higher quality firesteels made by injecting the handle material around the rod in mold, tend to have far better grip around rods usually bit uneven surface.
@@KuukkeliBushcraft As for sparks, i have no preference based on just some brand. But the rods used by LMF are pretty much only ones with reliable handles, that give me orange/reddish sparks, with less pressure needed on stroke, enabling me to "steer" the short distance flying sparks where i want, and rod doesnt wear as much in my use as do the softer feeling rods with long flying white-blue, round, ball style sparks reminding me of magnesium burning. These require longer strokes with more pressure. I am very keen to hear how your Kupilka works in time, as i like how it has atleast longer rod, how long it is, and what metric diameter it is, by the way?

Wow what a Ferro rod, not usually the star of the show but looks great. Price is a bit much but Finnish made and so good, I'll keep an eye out for it.
