  • Becky here! I’m so excited to (finally) show you the results of my extreme bathroom reno / makeover from start to finish. And today, my friends, we're finally at the finish line of the (long, long… long) journey that was the primary bathroom.

Totally agree! Could be even more functional if placed near the door along the wall corner ( couple shower ) and it will get less water on it .

That bathroom came together *so* beautifully. All the many lessons throughout are so true.
    Do the hardwork.
Pick yourself back up, when bad news comes your way.

And I just want to shoutout the video team too, when I think about the months of footage since starting and you turning the final video around in under two weeks from project completion, that’s a major win in and of itself! Teak sailboat owner here ! To restore teak :
    1. Sand the teak
    2. Bleach the teak (a bit of bar keepers friend in water, then scrub the wood, let sit for 15 min and rince very very well. It makes all the wood color even again.)
    3. Apply teak oil (you have to reapply at least once a year) or teak sealer (reapply ever 2-3 years) 😊

It looks like a boutique hotel bathroom. I’m always amazed at how important it is to see a project through to the end to see the whole vision come together. I mean, I know it’s been planned out and the concept is solid, but there is always that awkward “not quite done yet” phase where everything looks a bit 🤔 and then all of a sudden it all comes together and looks so good!! That lighted mirror seemed to instantly add that sparkle and hit of glam. I love all the wood and the way that floor added personality and character and kept the room from looking too modern for the overall aesthetic of the house. Job well done! You both must be SOOOO happy it’s finally done!!

I live in England. I have a dual fuel towel rail in my bathroom. It comes on with the gas fired central heating in winter. In summer it’s electric only and comes on at pre-set times as it has a timer. English summers aren’t always warm and the towels are always dry. I have an electric only one with a timer in my downstairs toilet.

I grew up having heated towel racks where we actually used them. I loved having a warm room and warm towels and clothes after a shower. In my first apartment I had no heating at all which I think set me up for the following. In my second apartment it was the only heating source in the bathroom and linked to central heating. It took way too long to heat the (big) bathroom so we would have had to had it running at all times which we decided was too expensive so we never turned it on. In our current apartment it's a plug in one in addition to our floor heating. We don't use it here either. It's nice to have but in my opinion not worth it. I rather shower hot and use the cold room as an opposite to get my body working like others walk in the snow after a sauna haha

24:26 Not sure you'll see this, but biggest game changer in both my showers was little stone rounded shelves in the corners. They're attached with silicone and they are sturdy as can be... I have photos but my tiler did them for 100$ a shower (2 shelves) and they have a tiny slope to keep water from collecting and they are 10/10. Hope you see this. Stools are great but the shelves are the best to keep things drying out. Ps I'm in Ottawa so definitely Canada approved
Pps theyre nice and slim and i didnt need to design around them. I put them in one shower like 6 years after... After struggling with sticky shelves and hanging storage for years

*Modern, Earthy, Organic* . A beautiful space to start or end the day in. The cedar was a super smart choice for the ceiling and I love the way Austin incorporated it into the door transition. Kudos to Rochelle on the vanities. Do monitor the feet on the teak stool in the shower for mold/mildew and squeegee those glass doors and tile EVERY time if hard water is an issue. Enjoy!

I wish there had been folks going around recording information about all the folks that put so much love into building homes for people with their skill/gifts in craftsmen homes with all the built in…. Seriously there have been so many talented carpenters that their work still is people’s homes and no one knows anything about them…. I love that we are getting better about recording and preserving these things now 😬🥰🥰🥰 absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing

      @mandymoe6493 2 місяці тому +1

I used one of those and had rust stains on the floor tile after just a few days. I had to scrub them multiple times and was so glad I got rid of them as it was a newly renovated rental... Luckily the landlord finally agreed to purchase a sticky shelf which we had no issue with for 2-3 years until we moved. I'm sure there are better vertical rods than mine but be aware of your purchase is what I'm trying to say.

Congratulations to a job well done! I love that you’re reusing the teak stools - if they are getting too wet there, you could try them in another corner of the shower where your stuff will still be easily accessible,

This reveal has been well-worth the wait because it’s by far my favorite TSG space to date!!! Becky and Rochelle have truly outdone themselves this time with their design choices and craftsmanship. Perfect combination of diy, upcycling, giving loved decor new life, and investing in worthy pieces like the shower!!! Job well done to the whole team!!!

Please give us an update on comfort and function once you’ve been using the bath for awhile. Heated floor AND heated towel rack is genius! Looks beautiful as well

Thank you for sharing when you got help! It makes this whole makeover feel so much more attainable and scalable for my own skills and abilities. As a DIY-er and home owner, I always struggle with when I should call in the pros- plumbing is definitely one are where I need professionals because I am so clueless about anything plumbing related!

I have had an ikea vanity for years and I’m still obsessed with it! So much storage, and easy to clean.
If you decide you need stick-on shelves in the shower I would recommend the Command brand. They have a line specifically for showers/bathrooms. I sometimes have six bottles on it and it hasn’t budged. Haven’t tried removing it yet…
