This is exactly how most horror tv shows, movies, games, and even anime starts. The production value is insane. How come I only decided to watch Chris' almost documentary-like vids now? I'M SO ENTERTAINED. Everything from the scoring choices and the shots, to the most engaging way Chris carries himself as a host. This is top-notch stuff.
The best plot twist would have been, Chris revealing in the end, that he and Natsuki were planning the accidental visit to the abandoned love hotel all along to scare Joey as revenge.
Well, it was at least a bit scenarised, since in this video they go in saying they think it's toilets, but in Joey's video, he clearly says it's a love hotel before entering.
I love how Chris describes his motivations for the trip, and it's not like the bubbly positivity of the average travel blogger. Enthusiasm and excitement to see new places? NO, desperation is the best tool
That's what I love about Chris, he doesn't have the forced positivity that a lot of travel vloggers have. Perhaps that's just his British humour rubbing off on me.

That war legitimately scary, Chris. The fact such a structure was built in the middle of nowhere, the fact it was so big you didn't even explored it all (you can guess there are two or more floors, and at 17:49 there's one of those little escalador for foods and that's a proof), and the fact someone broke everything there on purpose (because no door will break like that bu nature), makes it feel like a true horror set. Not going to lie, as soon as I heard that sweet, buttery intro song, I had flashbacks to the intense joy I felt watching Chris suffer through long arduous days biking across the countryside of Japan. To see this series continue, I'm filled with that same excitement once again. Thanks for letting us explore the world through your videos!
"I'm killing the nearest Australian" this got me so good. xD
The moment I've heard that jingle creeping up in the audio background and then coming in full power and all of its glory, my heart became filled with joy. Chris, thank you.
This is exactly how most horror tv shows, movies, games, and even anime starts.
People doing things they shouldn’t do, people buying things they should’d buy, people doing to places they should be going, or going through places at the wrong time e.g. forrest in late at night. You guys nailed it
......... Then everything usually goes South pretty fast
Have you tried going to Gotemba Premium Outlet?
I got a good picture there
True. Should'nt have bought that London pringles
@@thastayapongsak4422 It must have taste realy bad.
>people buying things they should’d buy
_LONDON PRINGLES_
people shouldnt buy bee larvae
@@lilyliao9521 I think you are in the wrong video...... that's the next video.
hearing the intro to 'journey across japan' feels like returning to your home town after years
Racing Hearts 3 is the name of the song. The song that plays at the end is ua-cam.com/video/5f8r-beyVbg/v-deo.html
@@sakuranippon4434 thank you!
14:19 - This may be the most beautiful reaction to fear I've ever seen. Natsuki is precious!
"A japanese style toilet".. "That's the real horror".. LMAO😂😂😂😂😂
I have been so excited for this series. The pandemic here in the US has made this year the loneliest I've ever experienced. Seeing you, Natsuki and Joey going on an adventure together is just what I need. Great episode, look forward to the rest of the series. Stay safe out there Chris!
You go dane! It will get better! I've been there!
@@hobobob59 thanks Ben. UA-cam comments are usually a horror movie themselves. I appreciate your kindness!
"This is the worst cigarette break Natsuki has ever had."
I think he'll want to take another one after that.
Probably, but far away from there. Far far away from there.
Looks like the board on the bottom left is moving right at 19:56.
What an amazing episode. There is absolutely no way I would have explored that abandoned love hotel as much as you guys. Good job.
Natsuki running out of the room and Joey going "nani nani nani " seriously gave me the chills 😳
"Having spent the afternoon lost in a deserted quarry munching on fish and chip pringles we suddenly realized we're late to pick up natsuki and make a desperate dash for takasaki city"
I'm 100% sure that is the first time in human history that sentence was created into existence.
7:07 - Joey and Chris discover an unreleased Assassin's Creed level
It's something straight out of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, I swear 😂
Idk to me it all shouts Nier Automata city of ruins
Isn't more like Atack on Titan without Titans?
@@vincentlaw82 same
@@vincentlaw82 Reminds me of the quarries in Fallout 4 and mines in Fallout 76. Although with the music it especially reminded me of Fallout 4's Dunwich Borers quarry. Which is a pretty scary experience the first time you go through it.
This was my favorite video of all time. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It was so unbelievably funny and scary at the same damn time. Just an amazing adventure jam packed into one short film.
Chris is upping the quality of his videos so much. I truly hope someone notices and lets him work on something major.
The production value is insane. How come I only decided to watch Chris' almost documentary-like vids now? I'M SO ENTERTAINED. Everything from the scoring choices and the shots, to the most engaging way Chris carries himself as a host. This is top-notch stuff.
16:02 - No one:
Chris: "Oh that's the real horror, a Japanese Style Toilet."
This might be one of the only exploring abandoned places vid that I was genuinely scared when watching
Natsuki's sense of humor is getting better and edgier.
God, this was great
hey Az!
Hey, I know you!
Didn't expect to see you here. Recommendations don't fail.
A wild Az appeared!
That weird moment you run in to someone you know in a completely separate side of youtube XD Hey Az.
Famous last words...
Chris: " This is like a first-person horror game, that I don't want to be in"
☠
Camera Obscura of Duty
Eh don't worry, I'm sure he saved before he went in :P
Phasmaphobia: Japan edition. Ghost hunting gone wrong
"And beer?"
"No beer"
"F*ck you"
I love this dude
“Resentment and revenge” takes him to a love hotel.
They all start with lil bit of love
hatefucking is a thing
take that however you want to
But it was an ABANDONED love hotel... Symbolic asf lol
"Can't find this content anywhere else." "There is a reason why..." had me laughing out loud :D
Natsuki is literally me
I always sing whenever I'm in a very creepy/ dark place
The abandoned quarry literally looks like something out of Tomb Raider...
I was gonna say uncharted
Assassin's creed guys
All three. You can put something from the quarry in either game.
Normally I'd watch this on my phone, but for this special occasion I'm gonna throw Chris's face up on the 75".... Let's see how that works out
Scary enough for you?
I'm finally a believer in 4k. The image quality of this video looked amazing on the TV.
Scariest thing about the whole video.
That's a horror beyond anything this video can produce. I pray for your soul.
@@AbroadinJapan Well judging from the replies that worked out exactly as I imagined. But jokes aside those landscape shots really looked amazing in 4k, so thank you looking forward to the next one
And the real horror here are obviously those Pringles.. I mean come on
This is by far one my favorite Abroad in Japan episodes. It's got horror, two of my favorite UA-camrs, and best of all, Natsuki.
Imagine if they both started a series where they go into famous haunted places in Japan and explore urban legends. It would be absolutely insane.
This is by far the best team up since the Avengers, I cannot put into words just how happy I am to have the three of these Best Bois together in one video series!! Thank you Chris, Natsuki, Joey, and the rest of the film crew for bringing such genuine and fun content!! Videos like this simply lifts my spirits when I feel my world caving in. I feel like a little kid waking up extra early to watch my favorite Saturday morning cartoons, all over again!
But anyway! I love how you are back with your Journey Across Japan, is really pleasant to watch and inspiring (in particoular for those like me who are too young to travel in the world). Natsuki and The Anime Man are good guys and great companions so I can't wait to see the next episode.
Actually the likelihood does exist that the doors were broken by wild boar in the area
@@halomerc5423 Deer boar bear
Watching y'all stumble upon that real life horror story was pretty awesome. I'd have totally gone in and explored it too...but only in the daylight!
