Was it actually well received in the UK? All I know about what UK folks thought about it, was Jeremy Clarkson absolutely skewering everything about it except the sound of the engine 😅 I personally love them!
@@BoberMcBoberson Clarkson didn't like it (bar the Northstar engine) but other reviews were kinder. In terms of value it was pretty much unmatched in it's class. The problem was a lack of dealer network, and only 400 or so being built for the UK market. They were just some of the Jap export cars taken off the line and fitted with imperial gauges. The CTS and BLS ultimately performed a lot better.
Only if it overheats. You have to keep the coolant in top shape. The thin threaded head bolts were aluminum on aluminum, so once heat is a factor they get ruined which equals blown head gasket. They are one of the greatest cars I still drive one. Do everything early maintenence wise. Burnout king haha
Never did like this Seville. They rounded off all the sharp creases that made the previous car so distinct. This is just a worse looking rehash of the original 1992 Seville, they should have gone an all new direction with this car, as style and "what is new/fresh" sells in the luxury car market. Even the interior looked pretty damn similar to the previous car. That's not even mentioning the elephant in the room, the Northstar V8.
What a stupid idea, Cadillac deliberately made sure that none of the body parts from the 1998-04 will not fit on the 1992-97, how f#$ckin stupid is that.
One of the few Cadillacs we got in the UK. The STS was a glorious car!

@@BoberMcBoberson Expensive because the EU would put charges and taxes on it so people in the UK could only get poorly manufactured Mercedes and BMWs.
If it weren't for the notorious Death Star engine, I'd have grabbed them up! Beautiful cars!
Northstar is a fantastic engine otherwise. Sadly, in typical GM fashion, it took Cadillac forever to actually fix the problem.

$41,000-$46,000 base price was A LOT in 1998! That was surprising! This car did have a lot of innovative tech in it for the time, however.
That’s why the base SLS should have gotten the 3.5L DOHC Shortstar V-6. Would’ve dropped the base price.
No denying the Northstar’s performance. Sadly, GM took way to long to actually fix the issues. Ruined an otherwise fantastic engine.
I promise myself to make a RWD STS from this generation. If Jay Leno did it so will I!!!
I had a 06 DTS with the L37 and it still kicked
I've had 2 and got my eyes on a 3rd one both got hit by someone hopefully I have luck next time
We want higher quality video please.
Imagine if they had made this with a supercharged 3800 V6
the perfect automobile
So funny how badly they got this wrong. FWD is not a world car in this class. That said, I still like this car.
2002 Eldorado was great
I liked the previous gens look better

This should never have been fwd
too bad the Northstar wasnt really "fixed" until 2002 or so.
2005 was the time
