- Being the debut work of Key, Kanon is an emotionally driven story that follows Aizawa Yuichi's returns to a town from childhood. Reacquainting himself to this nostalgic environment causes new memories to form and remember those he has long forgotten.

Awww yeah a video on Kanon! I always loved this story back when I first watched the anime, something about the snowy town from the late 90s is just so homey and comforting. It's a smaller scale Key story but the way it just captures that feeling of the past is so fitting for a story about memories and the importance of them. Something I also recommend too is to watch the 2006 anime adapation if interested, because I consider it the highest top standard of any VN adaptation!
That's largely how I felt when reading it, the atmosphere conveyed that feeling of winter really well that gave off a cozy feeling throughout.
I will definitely give the anime a try! I remember loving the Clannad anime when I watched it years ago, so I'm glad it reaches that level.
Kanon is still considered a masterpiece of its time, not perfect but a true classic, good story, likable MC and characters, amazing casting on both the anime adaptations and banger music, although i don't see Key making a sequel to Kanon anytime soon, but hey Yui Horie's got a better reputation than her Love Hina role.

I really do love kanon its my favourite visual novel and anime its special to me it makes me cry every time and the intro and outro are amazing
It really is such a heartfelt story with amazing routes! Ayu's and Shiori's I won't forget just to how emotional they got and Last regrets is still probably one of my favorite openings.
I’ve been interested in Kanon for a while now I haven’t really played alot of visual novels but kanon has a really good reputation and looks pretty cool so I’m pretty sure I’ll like it plus you just made an amazing video on it so it would be a disservice to myself not to play it.

This is probably the best video on Kanon I've seen. It perfectly captures the spirit of the vn. It may not be the strongest Key work, but I still love it for what it is. Hope you enjoy Air, the final route may be my favorite Key route from what I've played so far.

I finished Air a few days and... man the entire Air route had me in tears. I liked pretty much all of Air before then, but the final route really sold it as one of my favorite Vns. I'm really looking forward to reading me of Key's stuff!
I should announce we are getting a remaster on switch this April 20th. I’m not sure if we’ll get a English localization of the game today (during the Nintendo direct). But I can confirm that it’s getting a trailer revealed today
I heard about that! A shame there is no offical english release, but hopefully there will be one in the future. Would love to see the characters in HD!
I hate Kanon.
For one reason alone. I played the first route with the cousin and honestly thought it was long and had a weird abrupt sad twist at the end. I presumed the rest of the visual novel was more generic romance slice of life junk with a sad backstory the subsequently dropped it. This was bad.
It was only later did I watch a nearly hour long essay on the game's theme of loss. Bored and curious I gave it a shot and it then that I found out by the end that the game wasn't mid. I just played the worst route in the game. Instantly regretted having just spoiled myself of the entire experience.
This vn is a masterpiece and I am excited for your next review on Air. Hopefully I can get a better idea on whether I should play that one next. I'd already seen the Clannad anime and OVA, so that's enough for me. Only two Key vns have been left unspoiled for me and I ain't sure if I should dive all in or nah just yet.

That's a great anecdote, I had a similar feeling of disappointment when I first finished Nayuki's route . It just felt so anti-climactic that I couldn't help but think "What? That's it?" But there was something about it that struck me as too odd and felt there to be a meaning behind it, and lo-and-behold, it all came together in the end. I'm glad to hear that you gave it another chance!
Air has been an incredible experience so far. I'm on the final route, and the story has completely blown away my expectations. It does have the typical slow slice-of-life moments, but in the end it is so worth it. I recently bought the rest of Key's VNs so I'm excited to see how they progress.

i played kanon earlier this year and loved it Shiori being my favorite route i first played clannad a few ago and now i deiced to play more of keys game glad i got to play kanon its a game that still pops into my head even tho its been a few months since i beat it and right now i am playing little busters and honestly all of key novels i have played so far have been great and question if you can say where did you find Air i would like to try that out at some point i just dont know where to look
Shiori was my favorite as well, her ending absoultely killed me! Key's works are so impactful
that they just stick in your mind. I've heard Little Busters is fantastic so I can't wait to get to it! So far, my favorite has been a tie between Planetarian and Air.

It's one of those unfortunate titles that never got officially brought over and translated, with the Japanese only switch port being the only way to legally play it as far as I know. You can find the game and its patches online, but its been so long, I don't even remembered where I got it from.
@@NeNeiSan on the reddit theres some guy who posted a google drive link but apparently it has some issues or something. im pretty sure AIR also has the same issue, unfortunate
@@graham5961 Oh, I just found that in the Keyverse Discord server, they have a resource tab that have links to both Kanon and AIR with all the patches pre-installed.
