very typical case that the environment affects directly the social dimension, causing impacts essentially to the poor. sad :(
Simply stop making children they cannot afford. At that rate there will be more and more poor children and girls and that cycle nightmare will continue on and on.
That’s how selective gender abortion is so common in India. It’s illegal but even wealthy families perform it on a massive scale. Girls to boys ratio in Bangladesh is 850:1000 which further results in elevated rates of rape due to unavailability of girls. The only way to reduce all these massive social problems is through literacy. We need teams of social educators to upend centuries old practises. This could only be solved through active efforts.
In Sri Lanka, it must be 18yrs, unless you can't get marriage, even it is content of both party/ parents, you have to wait, otherwise every one will be fined or jailed..Everyon knows this, very few used to live together and rest most of children used to study in very competitve way, this helps Sri Lankan literacy rate over 95% both boys and girls which finally support to develop the nation, making only Most human develop ranking in South Asia and 6/7th in Asia and 71 in World....What I say children should have education and marraige law must be 18yrs...AND STOP POVERTY
Should be prohibited by domestic law and establish strong mechanism. and I thinks this also related with economic, social and cultural rights. This is one kinds of human rights violation.
How can they just let their little precious gift married to soon. They're children, not mature, not well develop physically (bodies), cognitive (their minds), and social and emotionally... They have no idea of what marriage life is, this is so sad and ignorant...Even if they're poor that doesn't mean for their parents to just give them away. How about the life of this innocent children?? The sad part of it is when they have intercourse while the child is only 8...It breaks my heart what these little girls had to go through. People needs to be educated in order for them to be able understand life. This has to stop in Bangladesh. The parents of these little girls need to be put away for good.
+Rand Central Station "Oh yes, lets just choose to live in poverty and cause distress to the family, when we could very well afford a nice flat surrounded by gardens and a waterfall in the middle of the capital city." They have no choice. Land costs money, which they don't have. Housing costs building costs, which they don't have. And rented places cost RENT, which they can't give. Also, they wouldn't even be close to their only source of income. Some ignorant people in this world, I swear.
+iMusikkForeva Bullshit. They have no choice but to sell their flesh and blood into slavery? It's part of the culture. Thats why they do it and there is no excuse. The reason why this still happens is because they don't value female human beings .. not enough to refrain from selling them to the highest bidder anyway.
Ray R As if you've lived in Bangladesh and have witnessed this first-hand. Even if it is true, the matter of the argument wasn't of that in the first place. The guy above is acting like its the choice of these poor people to live in this state. It's not. Although, the child marriage epidemic in Bangladesh mostly IS a result of poverty. You wouldn't see people of good income marrying off their daughters in BD. The country is way ahead in development of women's rights and social milestones, outnumbering a multiple amount of nations as stated by the UN. Currently, there are more girls enrolled in primary and secondary schools than boys. However, child marriage is still more of an issue in Bangladesh, due to the extra problems it faces of climate change and extreme poverty. It's not at all embedded in culture to disregard females as human beings, as you believe. Educated, well-off families in other Asian/Middle-Eastern countries marry off their children early, and THAT is a result of culture. However, the patterns witnessed in Bangladesh for child marriage is directly proportional to the family's living conditions and education. I've had first-hand experiences there to know this, and you are wrong to try and paint a whole people and such a complex issue with a single brush.
iMusikkForeva There are extremely poor people living in the US too .. it's almost unheard of for people in this country to sell their children. Look .. I agree that only desperate people do this .. and I believe that humans are humans no matter where they live. HOWEVER .. I don't believe the same about cultures .. some CULTURES still have some very backwards ideas. Poor Bangladeshi families would not be selling their children if it was not something that was AVAILABLE to them in their culture/living environment. This is related to Universal Human Rights and this practice .. life female genital mutilation and honor killings ... should be stamped out by the human community at large. Or the human species will NEVER make any progress. Wrong is wrong .. PERIOD.
Ray R I understand your overall point, and agree with the bigger idea, for sure. But some of the details within your argument, I don't agree upon. You must be aware that the type of poverty in America is immeasurable to the type of poverty in Bangladesh...so it is a rather unjust comparison. Although I have nothing to add to your paragraph above regarding the abolishing of such societal norms, because I acknowledge that culture plays a big role in these phenomenons....but I also believe that culture alone is not a factor in depicting the reality of this situation. A lot of families marry off their children against their full will, due to circumstances and this is a fact. You cannot erase 'culture' in a day. Culture is formed due to circumstances. So until we can ensure safe living conditions and fixed income for these people, parents won't be less eager to marrying off their daughters. After all, most do it to lessen their burden of food and shelter, and because they think that their children will be better off married. When families are financially stable, why worry about marrying their daughter off so early and give the endless dowries to the groom's family if the girl is no longer a liability? Soon, the cultural aspects of child marriage will no longer be valid, as daughters are no longer a trouble to the household. When many people stop this act, through active campaigning for the benefits of female education and the negative effects of early marriage, others will surely follow. This is why education and poverty reduction is the key to success, as you can't eliminate culture without giving people a reason to.
I am from bangladesh.. And I can assure you that you will hardly find child marriage in our country now besides it is also banned by goverment now, minimum marriage age for girls 18 and boys 21 now...

So they want housewives only these man and their families could send them to school but they afraid they will become too smart or smarter than them. They wouldn't depend on anyone if they got an education
In Bangladesh poor people are aware of girls education . But because of poverty they hardly can continue their daughters educational expense . By the way girls are smart and more understanding than boys of their age . Girls ( from village and poor family ) are used of watching child marriage . They also see none is reacting against this . So they also get used of this .
If I was the parent I’d make sure she stayed in school because she could become something amazing and even support her family better. All your doing is loosing a daughter and fantastic possibilities. Unfortunately I’m not the parent but if we educate we can eradicate the practice
I couldnt handle not going to school and learning how to read and write and stuff, the stuff that we take for granted over here in australia girls in poor countries would die to have
Its so sad that these people cant get educated more cos it would certainly go a very long way towards preventing the lives of these precious girls from being forever destroyed by child marriage
Its so wrong these poor girls getting married before theyre ready having kids before theyre ready sacrificing their childhoods before theyve even started to dream about what they want to be
Marriage too soon, end of childhood too soon, rowing up too soon, losing their innocence too soon, its like as soon as a girl is born theyre thrown into adult responsibilities that their young minds arent ready to cope with
We over here in australia dont know how lucky we are, what we take for granted poor families would give the world to have, like a nice comfy chair to sit on, good and decent education, being able to go to uni,and fulfill their god given potential
Because of uneducated parents the poverty never end .its come round through children. One should get marry or not its their personal decision.Lets educated them support them to stand up their own feet.Society and people should change their mind set. They call their own misery through marriage.
These girls parents need to be educated about the consequences of child marriage to stop them from destroying their daughters lives by marrying them off to a life of no education and no dreams
Thing is that Bangladesh is and LIDC (low income developing country) meaning that don't have a lot to rely on so the goverment would rather focus on theire economical issues rather then social issues wich is absoloutly terrible!!!
These poor girls, theyre not even allowed to have a dream theyre just betrothed and married off to someone who is probably old enough to be their father and once theyre married off they are expected to bear a son for their husband its so sad that theyre forced to sacrifice their childhoods for the sake of tradition
WTH !!! Why Bangladesh is always highlighted in child marriage ??? What about India ??? I live in Bangladesh so I know much better. I see child marriage has much decreased since 2009. India has much higher rates of child marriage, not Bangladesh
personally i think its important to talk about both country's issues for child marriage and the truth is, while it has allegedly decreased in bangladesh it still happens and we need to talk about it
This is what everyone shows of Bangladesh but I’m not agreeing that this is a good things it’s not but ppl from outside of Bangladesh only see the nasty heartbreaking news but there is still some of Bangladesh which is good

Little girls getting married doesn’t solve their poverty, because the 14 year old girl had a baby an she had to borrow money for medicine 🤦♀️ what was the whole point of getting married
This is a shame and there is no end in sight as they won't enforce their own laws. The laws are just there so they can say they are trying, which obviously they are not. If they would use the government to enforce them in many ways like most countries do such as actual birth certificates as filed by the government not written down by a parent perhaps easily to change. Make it where an official government official must register the birth, and keep the original on file elsewhere permanently. Then there is no question of age when it comes up ( as if those girls looked anywhere near to 18 ! ) Penalize those that go against the rules the parents namely, the husband any in the family that are involved in the wedding. Schools that act like they graduated or something instead of her life ending by marriage. The men that marry them should be held on charges of the false marriage, the dowry, selling of a human, rape and many other items. Schools should require that girls and boys have the same minimum education, up to near adult 16 or 18. If they leave school, it should be checked on and reported if they were married or otherwise ( and followed up on ) Education is the main way out of this but not if the girls can't be there to have it , and the boys live in a culture that deems women as mere objects to be bought and sold, with zero rights to their own lives. One of these she agreed to marriage as being forced anyway, if she can continue her education. Followed back up a week later or so her husband smiling ear to ear as she says no he won't allow me to attend school. Another one her mom was complaining they could have made money, but are now losing it by paying to further educate a female. The total disgust if it was in this one or another I seen before this that many girls there literally split in half due to pregnancy at too young of an age especially by giving birth as the child would be full sized , makes me want to vomit ! The one girl had it happen 9 years previous and just had surgery to correct it but was saddened that her husband had left her and remarried and now she had no where to fit in her community. This is the mid set of girls taught all their lives their greatest glory can be to die giving birth, how they see the world. As no better than cattle bought and sold and used as wished until not wanted any longer. I can relate to those that commit suicide rather than marry. Men that stand there and say at least they are married like that is a huge honor, or the only honor in life. No choices, girls dragged to weddings; crying, heads down, hurt, sad, no future, feeling hopeless and useless sad and terrible. And to think we have people in this country that whine and complain daily over things not half as bad as what these girls endure, and that doesn't even occur to them , as well as how fortunate they really are !
Its not their fault that these people were born in such a poor country its their fate unfortunately its so sad and so tragic that these girls are forced to sacrifice their childhood and their dreams for the sake of tradition
this is so wrong smh. Because in their eyes this means money but do they even think about how long it'll run before it runs dry? or what if the man beats the daughter so bad to her death that, is when they wanna scream and howl and cry. No, you chose the easy way to get money which, is inturn seeing the death of your daughter earlier than your own. if you aren't stable enough to have children and maintain their well being hold off. And move to somewhere else where erosion isn't so prevalent. If the men are the "favorites" make sure they go to college so their future children(primarily girls) can have a excellent future and maybe this wouldn't happen so much. And to the people in government considering lowering the legal consent age of marriage to 16 is stupid. Focus more on stopping child marriage. Especially knowing right now the age of consent doesn't bother them because, they are bribing people to change the legal documents.

To everyone in this comment who thinks this is "fake" let me tell u that i am a citizen of bangladesh and it is 100% true child marriage exists in bangladesh, not only in this country but pakistan and india as well. This mostly happens in the lower class families who cannot afford to educate their children. At one time these low tier people used to make their daughter marry a boy who has minimum income because they couldnt afford to take care of them and used to make their sons study. Now what happened is these low tier family have gotten into such dangerous habits that when they're daughter and sons reach at the age of 10-15 they make the girl marry a much more older person for example 10 years even 23 years older than their daughter just cuz they have money, and they make the boys forcefully get into small works for example factory cleaning or other type of really small income jobs that hardly pay them 10 dollars a month but still they greed for that ten dollars and their daughter's husband's money.

These girls parents need to be educated about the long term damage that child marriage can cause so that their eyes can be opened to what child marriage does to young girls and what the long term consqquences are
Now Bangladesh government taken necessary steps for Child marriage. Currently, it is develop & taken action against parents. I think after couple of year it will decrease gradually. Inshallah
I feel sorry for all those girls and want to help them all out. May Allah make everything easy for them
Educate a girl and you give her wings for her dreams to fly on,marry her off and youve just condemned her to misery
That's the consequence of a lack of education and awareness
I'm so glad I don't live there! I feel so bad for those girls
It's not about living there, be blessed that you have money and everything that so many people don't have.
I live there......
say no to early child marriage it is a shame to see that happening and the government do nothing and the parents two
God will punish these men 🤨
For what man is doing to his children...
There tears is God's promise
He will punish all these men!
Not the country plz just the people who is givimg child marrige because i live there..... So plz what if someone say to you...

Aww thank you may god bless you and your family and take you to heaven 😘
this honestly broke my heart so sad 😞
I feel so sad for these girls...and it can't be funny for the men marrying a tiny, sad girl...There are some brave people in BD trying to prevent child marriage and to educate against it. I hope the change will come yet I'm aware of the difficulty to brake old traditions.
my mum was born there and she told me my grandma married as a young girl as both of her parents wear I'll on there deaths beds and that was like 90 years ago it's hurts me that that sick govment allows this.if the government helped the people parents would not feel to do this some people feel the girls will be in a better place if they got married.but I still don't agree with it.things like this happens all around the world the sick governments make it happen.
***** I hear you one day I want to help cuz at the end we all going to die and take nothing but greedy people will never understand.it just puts me in tears as if few people help the poor and needy we won't have so much problems peopl can't and don't know what people go though in the poor parts of the world it is so insane that children have to go though this we all sorround by a government who dose not care but you know they will pay the price.I hope one day Allah will sort out all the disruption in the world
Trust I hear even my own family members are greedy even tho they not that needy and to be honest I'd rather help the poor than them I hope so belive if I could I would adopt but when I do go there I want to make a childrens home for some these children I hope I get to meet some good hearted people who be able to help witch ever way they can I hope at least god will help
What's sick in that !? Girl upon reaching puberty can marry
12 year old girls can start puberty of cource it's wrong in other countries children are dieing from child birth rape ect
I work with children and yes there are few that start at that age not all there body and mind has not even grown yet for marriege and sad thing is they have no say.my gran was married at age 6 becouse both her parents wear dieing but I know lot tradition do marry the young girls with out there consent.there few children who are fighting to stop child marriege but I don't think it has got any wear as it is a large number of young girls it is happening to and the government over power them.
very typical case that the environment affects directly the social dimension, causing impacts essentially to the poor. sad :(
how bout stop making girls you can't afford
Tell that to the rapists impregnating them.....
+Patricia Star exactly
Simply stop making children they cannot afford. At that rate there will be more and more poor children and girls and that cycle nightmare will continue on and on.
terrylovesenegal 👏👏👏👏👏
That’s how selective gender abortion is so common in India. It’s illegal but even wealthy families perform it on a massive scale. Girls to boys ratio in Bangladesh is 850:1000 which further results in elevated rates of rape due to unavailability of girls. The only way to reduce all these massive social problems is through literacy. We need teams of social educators to upend centuries old practises. This could only be solved through active efforts.
All muslim countries and similarly culttured ones have similar problems.

Moin don't give your kids . You make them . Be proud .
Poverty is the burden not their daughters
In Sri Lanka, it must be 18yrs, unless you can't get marriage, even it is content of both party/ parents, you have to wait, otherwise every one will be fined or jailed..Everyon knows this, very few used to live together and rest most of children used to study in very competitve way, this helps Sri Lankan literacy rate over 95% both boys and girls which finally support to develop the nation, making only Most human develop ranking in South Asia and 6/7th in Asia and 71 in World....What I say children should have education and marraige law must be 18yrs...AND STOP POVERTY
All married bcz of Their poverty... 💔
Simeamativa Togise the problem is that girls ain't considerd as a precious gift but a filthy burdn among these ppl
Simeamativa Togise What can we do? Maybe if some celebrity got involved.. Not enough people know or care. Awareness and visibility is needed
How about you stop building your house on the riverbank? Then you won't "have" to sell your daughter for cash.
+Rand Central Station "Oh yes, lets just choose to live in poverty and cause distress to the family, when we could very well afford a nice flat surrounded by gardens and a waterfall in the middle of the capital city."
They have no choice.
The state of mind of this kind of parents is no good
the government should put them in jail
I think the real problem is money, when they're poor they're going to think this way
Im so happy to see younger population who is trying to fight the system . Shame on Bangladesh government
In 100 years. Is going to be the same.
I am from bangladesh.. And I can assure you that you will hardly find child marriage in our country now besides it is also banned by goverment now, minimum marriage age for girls 18 and boys 21 now...
Not really
The govt. Should provide or think some livelihood programs for the poor families. To survive somehow. And teach them on how to reach their dream by completing their schools.
I could relate my parents forced me to get married when I was 16

Alhamdulillah we named our organise 'Change' .
in the bengali word 'পরিবর্তন '
pray for ours & our new organise .
Easier said then done!
@@glenn7152 easier than giving away your children to never be fully educated and never making a good life for themselves
To say that a young child brides life is over once she says i do is a flippin understatement
Its so wrong these poor girls getting married before theyre ready having kids before theyre ready sacrificing their childhoods before theyve even started to dream about what they want to be
STOP BUILDING HOUSES BY THE RIVER!! BUILT 5 HOUSES BY THE RIVER AND THEN COMPLAINS THEY WERE SWEPT AWAY!! YOU FOOL!!! STOP BUILDING BY THE RIVER!!
They couldn’t afford a nearly free education but can afford to change her legal age to 18 to be married...hm.
Thing is that Bangladesh is and LIDC (low income developing country) meaning that don't have a lot to rely on so the goverment would rather focus on theire economical issues rather then social issues wich is absoloutly terrible!!!
Marriage should be 21 not 18 or 16 or 13 , but 21.
their practice will affect the future generation
In Bangladesh we have all ready ,much kind of problems ...now Rohinga .....But soon we will solve this problems .
These poor girls, theyre not even allowed to have a dream theyre just betrothed and married off to someone who is probably old enough to be their father and once theyre married off they are expected to bear a son for their husband its so sad that theyre forced to sacrifice their childhoods for the sake of tradition
Poor girls its so sad no to child marriage
Poor little girls,! That's the end of their lifes,😢🙏🤲
Oh these poor girls, tied to a life of misery and drudgery
For some people it takes them a long long time before they learn from their mistakes
How can they afford such beautiful clothes, if they are poor ?
Maria Mclaughlin their clothes are everywhere, it's just natural clothes. If it's extravagant, it'll look different.
disgusting 😡😡😡
WTH !!! Why Bangladesh is always highlighted in child marriage ??? What about India ??? I live in Bangladesh so I know much better. I see child marriage has much decreased since 2009.
India has much higher rates of child marriage, not Bangladesh
personally i think its important to talk about both country's issues for child marriage and the truth is, while it has allegedly decreased in bangladesh it still happens and we need to talk about it
This is what everyone shows of Bangladesh but I’m not agreeing that this is a good things it’s not but ppl from outside of Bangladesh only see the nasty heartbreaking news but there is still some of Bangladesh which is good
Laws mean nothing compared to poverty.

stop making propaganda ,,,this days only few poor idiots parent does child marriage, and they are from low class family .working in peoples house, and working in rice fields .or rickshaw drivers
Then there is no question of age when it comes up ( as if those girls looked anywhere near to 18 ! )
Penalize those that go against the rules the parents namely, the husband any in the family that are involved in the wedding. Schools that act like they graduated or something instead of her life ending by marriage. The men that marry them should be held on charges of the false marriage, the dowry, selling of a human, rape and many other items. Schools should require that girls and boys have the same minimum education, up to near adult 16 or 18. If they leave school, it should be checked on and reported if they were married or otherwise ( and followed up on )
Education is the main way out of this but not if the girls can't be there to have it , and the boys live in a culture that deems women as mere objects to be bought and sold, with zero rights to their own lives.
Those girls have a future ahead of them, why take that away?
Its not their fault that these people were born in such a poor country its their fate unfortunately its so sad and so tragic that these girls are forced to sacrifice their childhood and their dreams for the sake of tradition
The reason why i hate marriages
Stop child marriage
if u can't feed ur daughter why u give birth...😃
i wish can someone stop. poor girls so sad for them.
It's Poverty
this is so wrong smh.
We paid for my cousin to study n at 18 she dropped out got preg n married that’s the only way there I think. Plus my aunt is a thief stole my elderly mothers (73) house which she spent her whole life building. I have no sympathy for these losers. Hubby will whore out his wife for medical cost. They will lie for money, stab u in the back with voodoo. In fact my sis brought my cousin here for holiday he ran off after 3 years of complaining to the immigration he finally got deported, thank god. He used my mother for money n got married with two children. His whole family is cheap n disgusting everyone just wants to get married, have sex n have children. How can u raise them, feed them or educate them, give them medical attention? Pathetic animals. Utterly disgusting behaviour
lower the birth propagenda ; where is canada going to find young work able people
population of Bangladesh is a main reason of poverty
It was very hard having this baby gee i wonder why its got a lot to do with kids having kids when its clear that theyre just not ready wake up people these girls arent ready for any of that theyre just not ready mentally, physically or emotionally

They should insist that the marriages be performed before a some sort ofmagistrate and legal witnesses to confirm the girls age.
I like the WEDDING BUSTERS group.
They are faking birth certificates
