No disrespect to Frances. She is a force of tsunami in Three Billboards. But personally I really want Sally win the award and hopefully the Oscar in two weeks’ time. I’ve loved Sally since Happy Go Lucky and watched every single movie she’s in, Jane Eyre, Made in Dagenham, Blue Jasmine, Paddington and Maudie etc. She may not be pretty, sexy or a model material, but she is a down-to-earth, humble actress who does her job professionally. I am glad that she finally gets international fame and spotlight for her sublime performance in the Shape of Water. Hopefully this is not a flash in the pan. Rather a new beginning of her fruitful career!

People said the same things when Frances won an Oscar for Fargo. She was not the prettiest but her talent speaks. Both Frances and Sally are amazing.

nick nicknick I have and it's a great film with a great performance by Frances but I'd still choose Sally. She gave a fantastic performance and showed a range of emotions without even saying a word. Also she's a very underrated actress who keeps delivering amazing performances but doesn't get much recognition

They all look pissed or just ambivalent (hard to tell) except for Sally who appears to be quite introverted and quite glad that she didn't have to get up and speak.

oh please, of the two roles, Frances' was obviously harder to pull off, much more dynamic and possessed an incredible delicacy that Lady Bird just simply couldn't deliver. I personally found Saoirse's role as Lady Bird not that impressive, it was a decent performance, but certainly not OSCAR worthy. Fun fact, Anna Pecquin won Best Actress in a Supporting role for the pianist at age 11, Tatum O'Neal won the same award at age 10, so don't say that critics are only in favor of well accomplished actors/actresses
