The movie Fargo was so bloody, yet she manages to be such a sweetheart. She even interrogates like she is chatting with her pals. I absolutely recommend that movie.
I love her in Fargo, but nothings surpasses her Olive Kitteridge performance. It's so freaking complex and full of emotional ups and downs, almost hysterical and catatonic, bitter ironic and pure melancholic. All at the same time. A genius masterpiece acting
See her in "Short Cuts". Massive, all-star cast also includes: Jennifer Jason Leigh Jack Lemmon Julianne Moore Robert Downey, Jr. Lily Tomlin Tim Robbins Andie MacDowell Fred Ward Lori Singer Peter Gallagher ...& a cameo by Alex Trebek.
I don’t find the word actress offensive (I am a woman & a feminist). In fact, I find it classic, whereas I find actor for a woman stubbornly functional.
I feel like "more recognition" pushes people into worse movies, e. g. the dc marvel stuff. please, don't ever put on a cape and spanx. I love you just the way you are, ms. mcdormand!
Fargo is the performance that will not be forgotten. We the audience have a tendency to latch on to the latest thing and wax poetically about it. She clearly was outstanding in Three Billboards but don't forget she was flawless in Fargo. She devoured every scene she was in effortlessly.
I am constantly shocked how many great performances Frances McDermott has done throughout the years and should have gotten the Oscars so many times after being nominated over 5 times. So happy she won for "Fargo" and "Three Billboards" where she was hysterically funny being that character which was sad, funny, and deeply moving. Her incredible range is amazing I hope to see more performances by this versatile actress that does it all!
Fargo and Three billboards were amazing performances but I agree with the other comments, the level of emotions she goes through in three billboards was by far the most outstanding of them all! Shes incredible
All I can say is that she is an amazing actress, and although she not only won an Oscar in Fargo adding that the movie was great, but she was phenomenal in her latest movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri; frankly I am happy she won another Oscar
Mrs pettigrew is a lovely film not fully expressed here. She brings the character to life with all the subtleties and you can read the novel prose in her thoughts behind her. And her accent is amazing!
Loved Fargo but Mrs. Pettigrew was the Mc Dormand movie that I keep coming back to when I’m doing movie reruns. I’m not a romcom kinda girl but I couldn’t look away from her performance with Amy Adams. Great little movie!
My first of her is billboard...i was fascinated...yesterday i watch nomadland...and now i know for sure that i'm a big fans...moreover with her 2nd oscar acceptance speech
First movie I noticed her in was North Country and I love that movie, she was great in it. Still haven't watched Fargo but I did watch the TV Series which was amazing
Francis McDormand is a stand alone actress who does not need to be propped up by her fellow male actor's, she didn't learn from Clooney or anyone else, THEY learned from her!
Good to see "Short Cuts" at least getting a mention, but for those who've never seen it (or even heard of it), it's way more epic than you might think. Besides McDormand & Peter Gallagher (shown in the clip), the massive all-star cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Lily Tomlin, Tim Robbins, Julianne Moore, Jack Lemmon, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Buck Henry, Andie MacDowell & Tom Waits, among others. It's directed & co-adapted by Robert Altman ("M*A*S*H", "Nashville", "The Player") from the writings of Raymond Carver.
i love Frances' hairdo at 4:05. I think she looks good in that; that is often the hairdo I picture her with when I think about her, strangely enough. LOL
My favourites are Nomadland and Paradise Road a WWII drama in which she presented as a doctor who was needed because she was tough enough to deal with the Japanese in a prison camp in WWII.
McDormand is one of the few actors who will draw me to any movie they are in, whether I know anything about the plot or not.
Mandu mika me too that's why I am watching this. Can't believe there are some I haven't seen yet.
Her performance in Fargo is more iconic but I think her performance in Three Billboards is more demanding, complex, and emotional.
I probably agree with this, both were deserving of an Oscar. Glad the Academy got it right.
The Three Boards was an outstanding performance by Frances McDormand.

Wow somebody repeating what everyone else said in a simplified way.. 🤔
@@anthonyyusef5897 Hmm I don't agree about Fargo. Please read what I said in the comments section. Stay safe.
Nomadland is also best than fargo
And now she's a 3 time Oscar winning Actress + 1 for Best Picture
She has surpassed Meryl Streep with 3 Best Actress Oscars.
The movie Fargo was so bloody, yet she manages to be such a sweetheart. She even interrogates like she is chatting with her pals. I absolutely recommend that movie.
Syed Mazhar Hasan “You’ve got no call to be snippy with me, sir, I’m just doing my job.”
Syed Mazhar Hasan Fargo is my all time fave.
Syed Mazhar Hasan he was funny looking in what way??
Fargo is a classic. The whole cast is great, but Frances McDormand really shines.
@@batgurrl 😀😃
She was clearly amazing in Fargo and Three Billboards just showed a new generation how incredible she is. My favourite actor by far
I love her in Fargo, but nothings surpasses her Olive Kitteridge performance. It's so freaking complex and full of emotional ups and downs, almost hysterical and catatonic, bitter ironic and pure melancholic. All at the same time. A genius masterpiece acting
I will watch any movie with Frances McDormand in it. She’s that amazing as an actor.
See her in "Short Cuts".
Massive, all-star cast also includes:
Jennifer Jason Leigh
Jack Lemmon
Julianne Moore
Robert Downey, Jr.
Lily Tomlin
Tim Robbins
Andie MacDowell
Fred Ward

Frances is so freakin' talented, I think she deserves more recognition (yes, I know that she has 2 oscars, but still...)
Hells yeah she is and I haven't seen Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri! Meryl Streep has had ENOUGH time in the sun!
Lol, Frances deserves an Oscar for every damn movie she's in
Make that 3 oscars. She's the GOAT.
@@gabgabatz She also won for Best Picture so make that 4.

Her acting in Olive kitteridge was great ❤❤I'll watch more of her movies

She is fantastic! Wow! Every time I see her act, Im mesmerized.
She is such a talented actress and just a beautiful person, inside and out.
Just watched Nomadland. Blown away..again
She is an absolute genius in acting!!! My 1st movie I ever seen her in was Fargo and I was completely hooked she was the movie...
Her performance in Burn After Reading is incredible, moving, and utterly human.
Josh Skudlarek That was a crazy movie. And yeah, she blew me away.
Josh Skudlarek funny as hell too! The best part was how the CIA gave her the money for her plastic surgeries in the last scene
One of my actresses of all time. I could watch her forever
Watched 3 Billboards and cried... I never cry at movies. Her performance was moving.
Thanks so much for this! I only knew two of her films. Wow!
Fargo and Three billboards were amazing performances but I agree with the other comments, the level of emotions she goes through in three billboards was by far the most outstanding of them all! Shes incredible
I am watching and rewatching all of her films!
Even her tiny roll in Wonder Boys was fantastic. Anything she does is just great!
All I can say is that she is an amazing actress, and although she not only won an Oscar in Fargo adding that the movie was great, but she was phenomenal in her latest movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri; frankly I am happy she won another Oscar
AAAAAND today she got her third best actress oscar 👏👏👏
A brilliant beautiful actress !
Mrs pettigrew is a lovely film not fully expressed here. She brings the character to life with all the subtleties and you can read the novel prose in her thoughts behind her.

she is LEGEND!

She was great in Laurel Canyon. She is great in everything she does.
Correct
Grew up with Francess' performance as "Miss Clavel" in the live action Madeline. True motherly figure rendition of the character.
Fargo is fucking incredible!
Compared to 3 Billboards tho?
@@maagony
It’s way better
@@ruly8153 fargo is only good because of steve buscemi, otherwise it's totally forgettable
@@maagony Yes, 3 billboards is amazing, but Fargo is another level.
Updated: 1. "Nomadland". Period.
I just watched Nomadland and I am a big fan!!! I have to watch her other movies now.

Fantastic actress! Love her!
Fargo, whata natural acting 💯✌
My favorite actress. So fing good. Can't wait to see Nomadland.
Under rated Best Actress.👏🏼
I love all movies she is in, her performances are the best👍
Will watch her in any movie! She's outstanding.
Great research and presentation.
Love this list and I love her.
Thanks for posting,
😍
Truly very very good actress
Happy birthday frances from italian boy live in rome
A true gem.
First movie I noticed her in was North Country and I love that movie, she was great in it. Still haven't watched Fargo but I did watch the TV Series which was amazing
She astonishes me.
i love her work! Genius.
Her performance in Fargo as number #1? OH YOU BETCHA!
She is AMAZING💜👍
One of those very few cases of actors that made it in Hollywood purely based on real talent and acting chops
Great, thanks for posting
Diversity! Her ability to master various accents is brilliant. What comes to mind are Mississippi Burning/ Fargo/ Raising Arizona.
Excellent Actress
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved her in "North Country."
Her performance in Three Billboards outside ebbing Missouri is better than her performance in Fargo 😐😐😐
It is kind of a toss-up since both are incredible. I think "Fargo" was first because Marge is a bit more approachable for movie goers.
and now her performance in nomadland makes it to the list too
She's like Tom Hanks. She raises the status of whatever movie she is in.
Never heard of her
@@jdtv50
Well now you have.
A Secret Channel no way
Frances is brilliant, Tom is B+, imo.
I think she's better than Tom Hanks, and I love Tom Hanks.
Gotta love her!
We also need another 10 performance
Fargo and olive kiterage r my favourites.
Francis McDormand is a stand alone actress who does not need to be propped up by her fellow male actor's, she didn't learn from Clooney or anyone else, THEY learned from her!
Bc her true personality is so real . Their is nothing phony about her at all. She's a cool person.
Burn after reading chills !!!
There needs to be a “Top 10 Allison Janney Performances” I will not stop requesting this until it’s made
Jeremy Hegan and Drop Dead Gorgeous needs to be on that list. Lol. I love Allison Janney!
Yes! Playing the mom of Tonya Harding!
Now she has 2 Oscars for Nomadland! Lead Actress and Picture!
I think she was better in Three Billboards than in Fargo tbh
TeamRainbow Wow, that’s a big kudos.
Olive Kitteridge is her best performance
Absolutely agree. Brings out every facet of Frances McDormand's amazing talent.
I loved Olive Kittreridge my favourite she nailed the school teacher ,tough love role just brilliant
Fine, fine actress.
If Frances is in it I’m there !
Hope you add Nomadland now to the list :)
Frances is a rare talent
She's such a great actress. Every role.
Three Billboard is her best performance imo although she was incredible good in Fargo as well
She makes me want to be an actor!
anyone else here that voice crack at 3:48 😂😂 “HilARious” it’s alright MsMojo we got those moments of our own too😂😂
If you think that's even something, your partner is gonna be in a pathetic company.
Nomadland! Nomadland!
Three Billboard is amazing
She and Cate Blanchet are my favorites
I guess you need to make another one to add Nomadsland to the list haha
"North County" performance more than deserves to be in the top 10 as opposed to some others
She is one of my top 5 favorite actors/actresses. Maybe tied with 1st place with Heath Ledger as the joker...Javier Bardem in any role...
One of those actresses who has taken years to come to the front, she’s got better with age
Good to see "Short Cuts" at least getting
a mention, but for those who've never seen it

than you might think. Besides McDormand

Diva! ♥️
I've loved her since Blood Simple, but Marge is one for actors playbooks
Raising Arizonia, she is hilarious. Her accent, her delivery, is one of her best.
Insert Fern in Nomadland lol hahha
I really love her
Loved the scene in 3 Billboards where her character rips into Sam Rockwell’s.
One and two should be switched - "Three billboards..." and her performance are - that much-used and in this case deserved word - iconic.
Three Billboards and Fargo are a bit of a tossup for me, I'm just glad they're the top 2
i love Frances' hairdo at 4:05. I think she looks good in that; that is often the hairdo I picture her with when I think about her, strangely enough. LOL
*FRANCES IS QUEEN*
Great actor
What ever role she has it feels like she's talking to me.
#1 Three Billboards
#2 Fargo
#3 North Country
She was great in Man Who Wasn't There. Not even a mention
Paradise road was good one too
4:55. Interesting trivia tidbit. Holly and Frances roomed together in drama school. :)
I live her voice, and that's the smallest of her talents.
My favourites are Nomadland and Paradise Road a WWII drama in which she presented as a doctor who was needed because she was tough enough to deal with the Japanese in a prison camp in WWII.
