Of all of the beaches on the Isle of Corfu (Greece), Pelekas is one of the nicest, all sand except for a few big rocks. This was filmed August 8th 2012
Lived on the beach for 3 months in 1977.....not the same these days by the looks of all those buildings and a road that didn't exist back then. I guess that's the price you pay when the word gets out how amazing the beach was back then.
Pelekas was a sleepy village then (1974), now it's an overcrowded touristic place I'd never stay for a long time. Some things were really better many years ago.
I was there in 1974. Had to walk down on foot for 20 min. Only a few Hippies were there, no Greeks, except for 1 hour on Sundays, slept on the beach till sun woke me up. There were only 1 or 2 places to get hot powder coffee, eggs and bread for breakfast. Seeing how this beach ended up makes me a bit sad. So crowded and so many buildings. All the nice places are getting destroyed by roads and people who are too lazy to walk and the ones who only care for businesses. τι κρίμα!
