The beginning of a long and amazing voyage across Greece, a dream come true. From Sarande, Albania, I caught a mid day ferry to the port town of Corfu of the island of the same name, Corfu, my first island. The first few hours of my arrival was spent walking around the former Venetian town and old fortress. Due to budget reasons and the fact that high season just started, cheap accommodation was only found in the north of the island near the town of Sidari.
After hitchhiking much of the Balkans, I figured why not try hitchhiking the island. I found myself catching rides over to Palaiokastritsa, a beautiful beach area with a small fortress. After a nice swim, I made it over to a local cliffside bar to jump from before making it back to Sidari's Canal d'amor to catch the sunset and take in the fact that I made it. :)
After a successful acceptance to stay with a couchsurfing host on Paxos island, I made my way down to my next island. Paxos is one of my favorite islands as it's the perfect place to slow down time and simply relax. I spent most of my time in the port Gaios, Loggos, and the sea town in the north Lakka. I also managed to take the short boat ride down to Voutoumi beach on Antipaxos, one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever swam in, cave hopping and soaking under the Ionian sun.
These island are the most perfect start to an amazinf two months in my dream country. From here, continues my voyage across north east Greece. :) Cheers

I had that same dream in 1984 ... met my wife there on a beach. We still together and fly to Corfu tomorrow.

Eu am ajuns la 50 de ani si pot sa spun ca am muncit toata viata. Nu am reusit sa calatoresc cu avionul intr-o vacanta pana acum din cauza saraciei extreme. Si avand in vedere ca am intrat in datorii foarte mari (credit ipotecar pentru un apartament la bloc si credit pentru nevoi personale pentru a supravietui) mai am de platit tot venitul lunar pana la 64 de ani (oare mai traiesc pana atunci?) Deci nici viitorul nu suna bine, deci nici nu am dreptul sa visez ca as putea calatori cu avionul intr-o vacanta!!! Cu siguranta intr-o alta viata voi indeplini dorinta de a calatori o data pe an si sa ma bucur de roadele muncii si de viata!!! Dumnezeu ajuta!!!

Anthony Perez when I visited west Greece (Ionians islands) everything was so same with Italy especially with Corfu town,
Greek is known to have many Italian words but west Greeks use much more Italian words

me and my family are going to Moratika in September while we are there we need to go to paleokastritsa and take them to see the beautiful water of paxos and antipaxos where my boyfriend at the time swam in there , he then became my fiance as he proposed in Kavos in 1987 we married 1988 and are now returning to Corfu after 30years
for him to now swim with our daughter , thank you for your video I am so glad you enjoyed greece yr a lovely American man xx

Thank you man! you will love it! I spend about 2 months in Greece. I was as west as Corfu Paxos and Zakynthos. As north as Ioannina and Thessaloniki. South, Crete and the Cycladic islands. I went almost everywhere but still have so much to see :)

Anthony Perez were you able to ride a ferry from Corfu straight to Paxos and from Paxos back to Greece (directly east of the island)?
Yes. So what I did was, I caught the dolphin ferry from Corfu to Gaios (Paxos port)...then caught the slow ferry with the cars to Igoumenitsa, the main port of that region of Greece. Oddly, the ferries in July weren't so frequent per day so I can imagine how much worse they are in winter.

I was there in 1974. It felt like home! How amazing Paleokastritsa was! The ripe olives, the Milky Way, the pebbled beach, the ruins. So much more, but...one step at a time.
Which did you like better Albania or Greece?
Because i spent 5 days in Albania and 2 whole months in Greece, it's a bit unfair for Albania. However Albania really did surprise me at how BEAUTIFUL it was and how kind the people were. Enough for me to want to go back :)

It's just a beach in Sidari. I beleive it's close to a footbridge on the edge of town. Google maps coordinates : 39°47'21.4"N 19°42'53.4"E
You forgot the canal for lovers in Korfu and the Arch in Paxos or Antipaxos.

Please....IN "ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΏ"...."χ" is not "fh" but "hk"..
Just got back from these islands, Antipaxos beaches were great, Sidari beach was average better at Glyfada beach and Pelacas beach. I visited 8 islands and by far the best beaches were in Kythira , Chios and west side of Crete. Laganas beach on Zakynthos was dirty but better beaches were away from the tourist centres. Must invest in aqua shoes next time, so many beaches had pebbles instead of sand. And buy your own beach umbrella unless you want to pay 5-10 euro each time you visit the beach, so annoying

Do you speak Spanish? Greek is phonetically almost identical to Spanish (especially Spain's variety) and has the same exact vowel sounds. So, don't try too hard to pronounce Greek words; just use a Spanish accent, not an English one.
