    I’m not sure why this video is showing up as being newly posted. It’s at least two years old.

    I grew up in a jewelers supply house. Look for needle files from places like Eurotool, Contenti, Thunderbird, and others.

    Well, bless your heart, Scott. That is an oldie, but goodie. I hope to get SS jigsaw someday. I had one with my 10ER, and I miss it.

      That 10er jigsaw took an interesting approach. I'm glad that Magna reconsidered the tool design so that it could be stand-mounted too.

    The speed reducers (or increasers for that matter) are specifically recommended against use with the powerPro (and may argue why needed) headstock, but talking about constructing your own begs the question if such a reducer is safe for powerpro? For turning in particular i would say there are times even an rpm of 25 could be preferred to 250.

    • @MyGrowthRings
      @MyGrowthRings  5 місяців тому +1

      There’s no issue with using a speed reducer with a PowerPro headstock, but the PowerPro would destroy the speed Increaser, and with the 10,000 rpm top speed of the PowerPro you aren’t gaining anything using the speed Increaser.

    • @jtome12
      @jtome12 5 місяців тому

      You get under table drive without the double tilt with the speed increaser.

      @@MyGrowthRings thanks Scott! I can see it could be helpful to reduce the speed even on the power pro by any number factors from 1:2 to 1:10. I love the DIY gear based reducer you demonstrated in the past but I’ve also considered a DIY planetary gear based reducer just because I like machines too much and waste time with unnecessarily complicated mechanical wizardry!!!

    How would the proposed federal law for blade stopping technology impact the ShopSmith?

    • @MyGrowthRings
      @MyGrowthRings  5 місяців тому +1

      That’s a good question, and there’s several ways of looking at it. The easiest way to deal with it is just don’t promote it as having a tablesaw function. That would eliminate the need to include a sawblade and arbor, and an insert, which would lower the price of the machine. If someone wanted to buy those parts on the aftermarket or used market, Then they’re on their own. Shopsmith tested years ago stopping the machine abruptly, and it just about made the machine fall over. So incorporating that technology is a bad idea.
