Every performer from Janet to Madonna to Kylie that have done "chair" dances owe a bit of gratitude to the extreme talent of Liza Minelli and the brilliant chorography of Bob Fosse. Truly a wonderful tribute here to both, even loved the extra humour of not being able to keep the leg up in the one pose. Tongue in cheek nod that he can attempt, but bows to the master. Well done.
The musical 'chair' came into being way before Bob Fosse, with Marlene Deitrich in The Blue Angel. Polished and taken over by Bob because nobody remembers the original.

I'm so glad i watched this, it made me really smile; he is terrific; and got all the Liza /Bob Fosse moves absolutely correct, even the hilarious part where his foot wouldn't stay on the back of the chair; It just shows you how really hard Liza worked to do that extremely awkward pose; I'm very privileged to have known and worked for Liza for many years; she is a lovely , brave lady.

I love Aaron's performance of Mein Heir. Masterful performance, amazing voice! So let me share the most horrifying experience I've had with this number. I was a backup dancer for a production in which this was done in drag. Mein Heir was performed with an exposed hairy left testicle. Many of the cast wanted to run from the stage screaming.

(Not least bc in Jan 2023 I had amazing seats for the current London "Cabaret" revival that a friend in the cast gave me as thanks for my having invited his parents to stay w me in NYC last Spring now that NYC hotel prices are once again through the roof. Since my roomate had been cast in an HBO pilot & was going to be away in Vancouver shooting for several months some of which happened to overlap with the dates when this close friend's parents had planned to visit NYC, I had one empty bedroom with its own full bath available in my apartment, a true 3-bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, rent-controlled, doorman building just off the 6 on the UES (which I am not giving up under any circumstances. The housing authority will have to carry me from in a plain pine box if they want me to leave this place, if you get my drift. This available bed saved his Midwestern parents 10 safe, great location hotel nights. Our building doesn't permit hotel nights to be sold, but guests are allowed to stay, so, without charging a penny we had so we had 2 people in their 80s staying for free in my roomate's king-size bedroom when he was away on business. They had access to a kitchen, groceries next-door, laundry in the apartment. So, in exchange, I'm front row at the Playhouse Theatre in London watching Madeline Brewer as Sally, Callum Scott Howells (from It's a Sin) as Emcee... & I noticed some of the Kit Kat dancers are gender-switched... incl one featured dancer who (from the luxury of my complimentary front-row seat) I could easily see needed serious help w tucking. Though this actor he did not - to my surprise - seem to need any help at all with shaving! Of course there was no "before" image provided but, from what I could see, no hair at all could be seen on the single ball that had slipped free of this dancer's undergarments, and any hair-removal that may have taken place appeared to have been completed expertly, at least on the single testicle visible from the "house seat" where I had been seated! I was mortified on behalf of that performer, though pretty sure only audience members -- like me & my date -- who were sitting in the very best seats... could see that one stray ball... & I wasn't going to interview my fellow theater goers to try to find out who had noticed what I had noticed and what I by then could not un-see!
Wow. He's like a musical theatre superhero. Everything is perfect. I remember first hearing his singing on the Les Mis soundtrack and being like "Who is that, that is one of the best voices evarrrr." And he's only gotten better and better since then!
God, I love this! When I was 18 I mimicked Liza and made this MY song. (And I arrived in Germany at age 22.) Now I am 70 and I see Aaron Tv do it just for me, just right.

That’s nice, but no. Liza had a snap and finesse that comes from dancing her whole life and, you know, having Judy Garland as a coach. She also had the advantage of an overdub, both in the film and in Liza With a Z. So he can’t really be blamed for his breathless vocals. It’s really fun to watch, but like the pope and the president, there’s only one Liza Minnelli.
