2 things from pocket bike racing 1 if you can tighten the clutch to where it engages just before it hits the power, you'll save the clutch. 2 don't max out the pull start or you'll be constantly replacing it.
Suspension, disk brakes, aluminum rims, assisted recoil, comes pretty complete. Not bad for $300 . We bought 2 for last Christmas for less than one mini bike from go power sports. worked great for my 80lb Boys. I wasn't spending what they wanted for a no Suspension, no disk brakes, heavy, chinese bike! We've moved on to go karts now but we had fun with those bikes.
Had one for four years now and only had to replace the clutch as my older boy got a little big for it at 8yrs old, he was jumping that thing and rippin cool doughnuts 😂 now my youngest boy 6yrs old is now ripping it up after starting off on a quad, they are ideal learning bikes for beginners.
Had one of these back in 2005. Ported cylinder, 21mm carb, better exhaust and it maxed out around 67 kmh (around 40-42 mph) total death trap but really fun. Not bad for a chainsaw-engine made in china.
Same i did wayyyy too much, like everything i could : BBK (54CC lol but high compression), lightened flywheel, racing clutch, jetted carb super rich, and fabbed up an exhaust from a ktm 50. It would constantly spit the chain off when you hit the powerband. Tried fixing the stupid bike but the frame and swingarm were too weak and would just constantly flex with the hit throwing the chain off. I added tensioners, rollers, gliders, but in the end the bike itself was total junk. Cheap metal. Threw the frame away. Still have the motor and i love it. Gonna put it on a goped soon.
It's only 300 bucks. Your kids will enjoy it plenty before they out grow it plus it's a cheaper way for them to have their first learning bike. After they build the skill then you'll feel far better about spending a decent amount for their second bike. So I see it as worth the lil amount for a kids perspective.
I think about the most interesting modification you could make with that little bike is to buy, say, five more? And have a build off and see what each of you can build with three each. Could be a sequel to the build off you did years ago when Isaac made that fantastically unstable reverse trike. That was fun.
I bought a used one for my 7 year old son for under $100. He rode it for 2 years until he grew into a bigger 110cc mini-cross. I sold it for the same amount I bought it for :D
The engine is from leafblowers and other lawn care equipment. There are some big bore kits and bigger engines from leaf blowers. You can get a racing clutch and stuff for them
22:31 I’ve done this before to Jon don’t feel bad 😂 I’m 6-2 so it really makes it hard on us tall folks lol Gotta keep your knees out when turning for sure, it will trap you in every time. Great idea moving the pegs back 👍🏻
The chungyang 460 or CY 460 will work on that bike! 46cc 4.5 hp, more with pipe and high performance cylinder! That clutch and chain box will bolt right up to it and bottom bolt pattern for mounts are the same! I have done 55mph on a chinese pocket bike with a CY460 I built and put on it. Also these CY 460 engines are used on go ped scooters as well! I have built both and they are fun! Oh, and a mini quad as well.
There are an absolute TON of upgrades you can do to that motor!! It's a pocket bike motor. I've done lots of them. Carb is the number one upgrade to do. Then porting, aftermarket head that comes in red or blue. High compression piston. And upgraded reeds are a must. The weak link in the system is the clutch. Also they make a metal pullcord box that lasts forever.
There are performance upgrades for that china 49cc... it's the most common engine ever, sold for as low as $40 on ebay. I have put one on a couple different bikes on my channel. The stock carb will drain the bowl faster than the tank will fill it at WOT. My engine still runs and has good compression after quite a bit of abuse but I don't use it any more
As an adult I have the factory electric one. Braced frame, lowered footpegs and over volted for all the fun haha. Wrack up plenty of miles on it no problems......well few problems but tinkering is half the fun aye guys haha
I've browsed around on Temu and I'm pretty sure I saw a bicycle engine kit that uses a 50cc 2 stroke engine. Could be the same engine as this little dirt bike. The price was about $80 I think.
Bought a similar one a few months ago off marketplace and I blew the carb gasket at another event right before mini mayhem this past october... Next year at Spring Mini Mayhem will be my chance to prove you wrong that you absolutely can do a couple things at most to make these better 🙏
This makes those 125cc generic Chinese eBay pit bikes from a decade ago look like a Honda. This thing Is a total death trap 😂. The rake alone on those toothpick forks 😂. I’m shocked it has an actual expansion pipe. If it was just a little more stout would be fun to modify.
I had one of these about 15 years ago because it was so cheap and a bit of fun to mess about with in the garden. There are many, many tuning parts for them, and they're actually stronger than they look. I managed to blow two engines with nitrous but as they're were about £40 each at the time I did not care. The stock engines aren't actually 50cc, I believe they're 39cc. You can get some nice big bore kits and fancy carbs. eBay in the UK used to be absolutely full of parts for these.
I build a go kart for my son when he was little using that same motor. It became extremely difficult to start after about a dozen tanks of fuel, despite having good compression. I suspect it either had a bad coil or bad reed valves. I then purchased a racing version of the same engine for about $50 more than the stock version and it seemed to have about double the power, but it also gradually became difficult to start with really bad finger breaking kick back. For the money they are pure throwaway toys, but the power is impressive. You should run full synthetic oil to get the most out of it, and run it in properly if you want good life.
I own a syx moto and I had to reinforce the frame and I only weigh 150lb, to make the frame stronger take two bars and bend them into a L shape then drill two holes into the neck of the bike then bolt the L Bar on the neck then take the short part of the bars and bolt those onto the bottom of the motor mount, and that will keep the frame from twisting and the motor mount from flopping around, also be careful with those pull starts they break very easily, love the videos keep it up the good work.
I built a few like this like 10 years ago. Super simple stand pocket bike motor, however.....you can get high performance liquid cooled versions. Surprisingly, you can get them moving pretty good!
First upgrade I would do is get a lower gear ratio in it. Change the sprocket, or something, to get you more acceleration (and climbing), at the cost of an already too-high top speed.
You guys need to get rid of the cheap frame and do a mono shock set up for a pit bike with that engine that would be awesome. A bigger carby does help those engines. (I had one here in Australia)
John saying we ride things made for children all the time. truer words have never been spoken. That thing will fold up the first time you ride it. judging by how light the materials are that it's made out of? although it must be really lightweight.
box in the frame and swing arm, put some ape hangers on it and some front axle foot pegs like the freestyle bmx bikes used to have and then it'd be a fun pit bike.
I bought one of these a few years ago, and made a 9" longer swing arm after falling off the back of it twice. ride it on the fender! Also spaced the handlebars way up like 4-6"
At least now we know just how small those things are seeing you guys on it. In the pictures on Ebay and Amazon they make them look bigger than they really are and I always wondered if I should buy one. Now I don't have to wonder anymore being I'm 50 years old lol. My MB200 looks huge compared to that.
Really enjoy your videos Issac and John. I was wondering if you guys have ever heard of a “mokai”. It’s a jet drive powered kayak and they are wicked cool, and are generally powered by the same engines you guys use all the time.
Okay what I would love to see is put a Taylor rc 2 stroke in that. Like you see ppl swap in the monster truck r/c I think they got 90cc I think that be so cool
ok so i got a pocket bike like this when i was around 10 and it was a blast to drive with it and some friends with similiar bikes . always broken though . thats why i know how to repair a complete engine today . so tbh i would buy it for my son . needs different brakes though and a e-starter kit as those pull starter always break there are big bore kits for those bikes in terms of performance upgrades
As another commenter said: Handlebars from a trick-bike will geet them off your knees. Box the frame and put a cross brace in the forks closer to the tire. Temu has a $140. engine:/hotmalll-110-stroke-engine-motor-auto-transmission. Happy Trails, and Thanksgiving everyone.
That IS NOT a 50cc engine, It's like a 28cc..... You can get TONS of upgrades and race parts for Pocket bikes, and Go-Ped Motorized Skateboards that have engines just like those........ Look up a Gag-Pocketbike, same engine - tons of pipes, heads, carbs and other stuff available Not really fair to compare a 98cc 4-stroke engine mini bike to a under 30cc weed eater engined bike
@@MiniBikeReece377 Impossible - the cylinder is too tiny, I have 54 Motorcycles currently in my shop, Ive owned hundreds over my 56 years on this crazy world, I have 4 or 5 pocket bikes now, and THAT isnt a 50cc no matter what it's listed as
This would make a great project. Stretch and reinforce the frame. Put stronger wheels and chain. Add a bigger engine. Get a stronger fork and a bigger seat. Larger brakes. Just a few simple mods!
The problem I've always had with a product that says something stupid like "for ages 8 and up" is that they never specify if they mean mentally or physically.😆
We have had one around for a while. It's fast for what it is. The point of these are to keep others off your good stuff when they come over and hang out. Your kids ride there awesome expensive bike. The company rides the cheap bike so you ain't out nothing if it breaks lol
I've noticed a very interesting trend over the last few weeks. The amount of UA-cam content creators buying stuff from places like temo and china-based companies because they know that revenue stream of cheap stuff will end now trump will introduce the tariffs. ..
If you're honest with yourself you'd know 99% of it is cheap garbage that gets thrown out any way, no loss, maybe there'll be 90% less landfill fires too.
Dudes... You can probably get an oversize piston and cylinder set. You can easily make a fork brace, and you can weld the lower triple to the forks to get it staying straight. Additionally you could box in the frame and the swingarm.
Been riding it for about 4 months got ours off amazon sane exact one . They r really pretty cool for what it is . Pulls full kids around and young ones too.
By 1979 50cc GP Kreidler Van Veen two-stroke single cylinder rotary case inducted bike engines were producing 20 horsepower, had a 5-speed gearbox. and could reach between 70, and 110mph.
A perfect engine to swap that fits perfect and is affordable . Look up Primal Raminator 50cc high performance engine. It's the souped up version for a giant rc monster truck. $150. On the high end O'Neil Brothers "obr" make some crazy engines too.
My 7 y/o son rides a very similar bike for more than a year now. Basically same wheels, same suspension, same engine and a can tell you they are pretty crap even for a 7 y/o! I swapped the engine to one that costs about 130€ and the rear shock. Fork is still crap! On his Quad with the same engine, the clutch broke several times. So I had to install an upgrade clutch too.
8 years old in Chinese is about 6 years old in American. Metric conversion 😅 Ike during assembly "I'm going to put on full gear before I ride that thing".... Ike after start up ( popping up the front wheel and doing donuts under a lift in shorts). 😅
Keep the pit bike. Box the frame (so Ike can practice his Tig welding), Add a fork brace, Raise the handlebars, and Re-gear it for 15mph max so it can be used as a pit bike!
I put one of these 40cc engines on a razor pr200 pocket bike for my kid when the batteries gave out. It's quite literally knee-high. I'm 5'4" and about 170 at the time and it pulled me fine. That was 11 years ago. I still have it sitting on a shelf in my shed.

2:19 come on ike. Worst case you experience a over the bars deal if she breaks. 😂🎉🎉 keep the camera rollin 🤣
There’s is actually a bunch of upgrades for the bike. Engine espiecally. Big bore kit , put reeds in intake for improved power band
You had me at "putting a bigger engine whether its good or not"😂😂 love the content guys
I really wanted to see the gps 180 but it's fine i gess( Proceeds to slam cabinets)
the 180 race video will be out next Saturday!
@@CarsandCameras Yay !
I bought one of these a few years ago, and made a 9" longer swing arm after falling off the back of it twice. ride it on the fender! Also spaced the handlebars way up like 4-6"
This thing is pretty quick. Oh wait, I’m watching this video at 2X speed.
Ike taking the first ride on that bike is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. 18:23 🙂👍
This bike epitomizes the saying "It'll be fine".
I love when Ike asks, "who's idea was this anyway"🤣😂
You know the weather is changing when Ike grows the beard out.
Great video, Thanks for sharing!
Love car and camera 😊
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 y'all 🍾
At least now we know just how small those things are seeing you guys on it. In the pictures on Ebay and Amazon they make them look bigger than they really are and I always wondered if I should buy one. Now I don't have to wonder anymore being I'm 50 years old lol. My MB200 looks huge compared to that.
It was my first bike 😂 now I’m riding Goldwings and Yamahas 😅
Good Call on the Rascal Lite being upgradeable = wrenching with kids = good times and building skill sets
Have to watch the SWING ARM !!!
Really enjoy your videos Issac and John. I was wondering if you guys have ever heard of a “mokai”. It’s a jet drive powered kayak and they are wicked cool, and are generally powered by the same engines you guys use all the time.
I think I've seen them
Wow John looks insane in the thumbnail
Okay what I would love to see is put a Taylor rc 2 stroke in that. Like you see ppl swap in the monster truck r/c I think they got 90cc I think that be so cool
you can get like little big bore kits fr those bikes like we did for mine and they rip
ok so i got a pocket bike like this when i was around 10 and it was a blast to drive with it and some friends with similiar bikes .
always broken though . thats why i know how to repair a complete engine today .
so tbh i would buy it for my son . needs different brakes though and a e-starter kit as those pull starter always break
there are big bore kits for those bikes in terms of performance upgrades
35:03 You know it's sketchy when they both put on basically full gear
As another commenter said: Handlebars from a trick-bike will geet them off your knees. Box the frame and put a cross brace in the forks closer to the tire. Temu has a $140. engine:/hotmalll-110-stroke-engine-motor-auto-transmission.
Happy Trails, and Thanksgiving everyone.
extend the rear swingarm and get a further back seat, then move the suspension to a stronger location
That IS NOT a 50cc engine, It's like a 28cc..... You can get TONS of upgrades and race parts for Pocket bikes, and Go-Ped Motorized Skateboards that have engines just like those........ Look up a Gag-Pocketbike, same engine - tons of pipes, heads, carbs and other stuff available
Not really fair to compare a 98cc 4-stroke engine mini bike to a under 30cc weed eater engined bike
No they are 50cc
Seems kind of fast for 28cc if you say..
@@MiniBikeReece377 Impossible - the cylinder is too tiny, I have 54 Motorcycles currently in my shop, Ive owned hundreds over my 56 years on this crazy world, I have 4 or 5 pocket bikes now, and THAT isnt a 50cc no matter what it's listed as
@@Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes I measured it
This would make a great project.
I’d presume both.
We have had one around for a while. It's fast for what it is. The point of these are to keep others off your good stuff when they come over and hang out. Your kids ride there awesome expensive bike. The company rides the cheap bike so you ain't out nothing if it breaks lol
Engine swap time boys! How bad could that be?!
I remember when these guys started their channel. Wow. Over a million subs. Hard work pays off fellas
I've noticed a very interesting trend over the last few weeks. The amount of UA-cam content creators buying stuff from places like temo and china-based companies because they know that revenue stream of cheap stuff will end now trump will introduce the tariffs. ..
We have to have fun with it while we can.
I was thinking the same thing
If you're honest with yourself you'd know 99% of it is cheap garbage that gets thrown out any way, no loss, maybe there'll be 90% less landfill fires too.
Dudes... You can probably get an oversize piston and cylinder set. You can easily make a fork brace, and you can weld the lower triple to the forks to get it staying straight. Additionally you could box in the frame and the swingarm.
the clamp on the triple tree for the forks is cast aluminum. it shatters VERY easily. I know this from experience.
8:29 the desk bench is awsome 👌
You have a CNC. Machine. Make a set of bar risers...
Not sure if it was said in the video max weight is only 130 pounds lmao
You can get a big bore kit for them which takes it up to 70cc
I'm like 200....okay. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I like it way more when you guys build sketchy stuff. Than just buying REALLY sketchy stuff.
"For my oldman-ness." Man I relate to that.
Keep the pit bike. Box the frame (so Ike can practice his Tig welding), Add a fork brace, Raise the handlebars, and Re-gear it for 15mph max so it can be used as a pit bike!
I like this bike a lot solely because it’s a two stroke. We need more 2 strokes
A ad popped up on my phone lastnight from temu or one of them sites of a atv engine, 4x4 axles and driveshafts and instantly thought of yall. Lol
I put one of these 40cc engines on a razor pr200 pocket bike for my kid when the batteries gave out. It's quite literally knee-high. I'm 5'4" and about 170 at the time and it pulled me fine. That was 11 years ago. I still have it sitting on a shelf in my shed.
I used to own one of these hahaha. Eventually blew it up and got a $50 big bore kit for it. It moved then
The last hot lap reminded me of Mario karts 😂. What a blast, you guys are great!
“Oh, it sounds mean!” 😂😂😂
You probably should have mentioned it requires premix oil and gas.
Not everyone knows about premix.
Unless of course they aren't weenies.
Before inflation set in, Taco was marketing the original mini bike for roughly $300 if you have yet to make a video about that, and I’m “pretty sure” you won’t worry as much about the quality like you do buying from TEMU. 😇
@ WOW! Never been, “the champ” before. How exactly does that work? Don’t I actually have to view the video before the giveaway to be, “the champ”? Anyway, I’m really enjoying your content for what seems like almost going on ten years now. 😇
And you need a 125 front end and swing arm for it if you do.
Mini stretched dune climber with a paddle tire would be dope
I love y'all videos they make it where I want to learn how to build bikes and stuff
Use a couple of risers to raise the handlebars for more legroom
The wheel to wheel on the Grand Prix with this matchup was epic! Need more of y’all running your worst projects head to head 🤣🥴
*Ike just finishes talking bad about the bike
John: “want to ride it?”
Ike: “I’ll ride it!”
😂
Hi guy's, how about considering building a chariot to be towed behind this little thing, it would reduce the weight exerted on it reducing the probability of total destruction.
Happy Thanksgiving John and Ike and families ❤
can you guys PLZ build a four-wheel-drive mud go kart with tractor tires somewhat with nice suspension and a lift
