I was there, standing in the gallery on the right side near the stairs. My best friend Florian took me there - I haven't heard of FUGAZI before. It opened a whole new world to me.
Unfortunately Florian passed away last December aged only 53 and now I cherish this video even more
Sorry to hear of your friend's passing. I am glad, however, that this video brings great memories for you of your friendship
Cheers
The discovery of Fugazi is a great gift we offer only to the people we really love.. Florian gave you this present.. You can be sure he loved you a lot my friend !
Que belo presente te deixou em sua passagem por esta vida, deve ter sido inesquecível
They were on of the greatest Rock bands of the Rock Era. Top 10.
And to think they came from my neighborhood in Glover Park.
rest in peace Florian. 🤍🕊️
best. band. of. all. times. period.
... or time periods
fugazi, at the drive in, garrison, toys that kill, operatic, jawbox, mission of burma, love as laughter, modest mouse
all good bands.
they were so tight, in the pocket as we say.
shut up
@@toriandicapmond161 Or period times
this is some real quality quarantine time.
What this world needs. People whom maintain their spines. Leading by example.
Fugazi was SO Punk Rock, they make damn near every other band who calls themselves Punk rock, pale in comparison. Had their own label, $5 shows, set cd, tape, vinyl, & now download prices. Never made videos. Never needed to market. Bare minimum promotion. They were, and still are, music's best kept secret. And having been in bands not knowing what we were doing AT ALL as a band, I've watched much bigger bands before & since them become slaves to their labels and contracts. Fugazi thought outside the box and set forth a blue print of how to do it all yourself, by yourself, for yourself. And their live shows were the stuff of legend. Even here, feeling under weather, Ian MacKaye was untouchable. Better than most artists, live, on a good day.
All Hail Fugazi!!!
Agrees on all counts.
Indeed I loved ther 5 shows. amazing
Ian still untouchable. Fucking legend.
I’d never heard of them until that movie Mud and I randomly went down the Wikipedia rabbit hole. I’d known minor threat but was more a youth of today kid but the fact they never made any merch and that fugazi shirt in mud is just a fan made one off eBay, I ended up getting my own style fugazi shirt. Wore it for the first time in years and (I work in an office) the most random office workers who you’d never expect to listen to fugazi, will just blow your socks off with knowledge. The comment section is always so good on a fugazi video
Bass player supreme.
Drummer supreme
Everybody's supreme.
Absolute masterclass.
I hate the term underrated. Ian and Guy are awesome as dual front men. But damn that rhythm section rips
FUGAZI needs to come back and save us all.
Ian's voice was going in this show, but he battled. What a Warrior. Legend!
Warrior? No.

Maybe it's just me, but this band is perfect.
No it's not just you, i grew up around dc, got to know them all personally and moved around but never missed their shows when they toured, seeing them over a dozen times from every point from the start in 87 til 02. I've also seen hundreds of bands in my life and they were still the best one of that era and nearly any era when i start to think about it.
no its perfect it is geniale
Nope, even me 😍
You're not alone. I totally agree with you!
Best part is how they refused to sell tickets for more than $5 a peice --- on second thought maybe that's why they eventually called it quits ...
My love and respect for this band increases with age
Esattamente questo
I love this band so much, I'm replying 2 years later to me hermano/hermana de otro madre
when you realize bands like this existed long before nirvana, life sorta changes

Thanks for posting this! It seems to be a bit off after Number 5 (but then so is the listing on the Live Series recording) I think this is accurate:

Man, I remember in high school my older brother was heading off to college and I wanted to stay (I was in love with a girl at the time) home but my dad made me go. I had recently bought steady diet of nothing (this was 92 I think?) and also small parts isolated and destroyed (Nomeansno). I sat in that motor home for a hundred hours, listening to those two albums and watching the Idaho, Washington, and Montana landscapes whip by. I was just learning to play guitar and later covered a song from repeater. 30 years later and the emotions of sitting gazing out the window still come back. Such an important time of life.
That sounds like the perfect time to discover Fugazi
SPIAD is such a monumental record, I'm getting goosebumps :D
Nomeansno is criminally underrated
4 people thought this was gonna sound like minorthreat, and will be back to upvote in a couple years.
the problem is, that its possible to express ur opinion by clicking on these buttons, even if they have no clue what this music and energy is about. It's like voting a populistic right wing party - they have no clue whats going on, but still they have the right to vote.. :D
So true and it's a beautiful thing.
I am definitely one of those four people.
@@ello871000it’s like voting a liberal democrat party too
Is it just me or is there now no downvotes haha
It's almost surreal how good this footage is. Amazing!
The footage is only as good as the band
@@jodywheeler5779 as good as Fugazi...which is kinda what you meant
love how the camera zooms in and out for the yawn section in Place Position!!!
I grew up in the DC area and saw Fugazi many times in the 90's..I try to explain it to my children but they just can't understand how amazing that Era was.
you lucky person. they were always good at coming to Northern Ireland but i never got to see them. And for some stupid reason i never saw them in my peak gigging years (1988-1993)
Yep. Lived in DC 1974 to 1999.
Best music scene in North America.
Spawned Nirvana and Fugazi.
I'm so thankful I showed up in the universe during the time of Fugazi.
Me too!🤘🤘
This was a great watch during a session of Kidney Dialysis. Thanks for posting.
At this point they were totally masters of their instruments, sounds so fucking solid!! Also awesome recording quality, thanks so much for uploading i needed this
They are all alive, healthy and have always had their shit together...please please please tour Fugazi! You can crash on my floor in SC !
Some 20 years ago I ordered the Fugazi Live Series set of 20 CDs from Dischord, but a couple discs arrived damaged. So I emailed Dischord and got a kind, almost apologetic reply from Joe Lally, who promptly sent a new batch of 20 CDs to me, no questions asked.
What I learned that day was the best customer service rep alive also happens to be the greatest bass player on this planet. 😊
Awesome story
this is a phenomenal band. the audience finally catches up with it at about 40 minutes into this wonderful set.
Fugazi is absolutely the most underrated band of all time.
I fucking love them, god tier band.
I wouldn't call them underrated, after all they are venerated by everyone who knows them (St. Ian forgive me for the sin of venerating your band). They just aren't for the masses.
Not just the most underrated band of all time, but veritably, the best band of all time! Such incongruence!
In my opinion it's Hüsker Dü. But Fugazi is one of the greatest bands, no question
True. Another one is ...And You Know Us By The Trail of Dead.
This is musically refreshing on so many levels......
i grew up listening to cursive and discovered fugazi later in life. i totally see where cursive got their sound from
i never would have pieced that together but you’re totally right
saw them at the Dom Polski centre in adelaide, sth australia. After the gig, ears ringing, something made me wander backstage. There is ian, lookng through his notebook. I say hi, do you remember . He gives me that curious, sideways, ian mckaye look. Yeah I remember G. Then a pause. I remember you, Stuart's friend, right... I'm amazed, but not. I ask him what is in the book. Lyrics to old songs, new songs, borrowed songs, blue songs. He says no. Its people's names, fans he has met in each city. Thats what is important to this dude, not his own brilliant ego, but the folks he meets. Am I in the book? I ask. No, he says, I remember you because you're an aussie. Don't meet many of those. We say goodbye. Then he turns, and says, 'you were at a minor threat gig, too'. I said that I was, I admit that I had forgotten. Hardcore days.
Bro that’s sick
Lights on was a very symbolic gesture for this band. It's historical , most bands played in darkness.
The version of Recap Modotti on here is KILLER.
Ahhh, hell.... it's all killer.
This audio sounds so CLEEEAAN ❤ w
Even with Ian's voice being worn out, he still gives his all on And The Same, and makes the show still happen.
slowed down Target is a revelation. Sounds way cooler at this tempo.
So inspirational. Total mastery of the music and yet much of the time Ian or Guy can get away with playing one note for half the song.
FUGAZIのライブ映像の中で一番良いかもしれない
weird
Sick drummer. Love it!
Quality show. Love the venue, sound quality, and of course, the real highlight; these master musicians at the height of their mastery, so nuanced and crisp. Ian’s voice is shot but he soldiers on and tears it up! We need Fugazi now, 2023 needs you…
FUGAZI is one of the best bands around the whole world ! Nobody sounds like them ! (a message from France !).
Gracias!
Amazing footage, thanks
Love hearing (and seeing!) the different versions here of a few tunes from The Argument. Fugazi is the GOAT
Problem my fav Fugazi album rn
Early, loose Argument is so good here
Gracias por subir esta joya!
Amazing show and fantastic quality thanks
Thanks for uploading it, vivia fugazi, from Argentina
The better band of the world too me 🙌 thanck you
I love this band sooo much!!!
Great mix
unbelievably good. absolutely fantastic. thanks for posting.
This is making my morning better. Thanks Fugazi, thanks to the uploader, and thanks to you.
That's awesome.
Merci!!
best fugazi set ever. thanks.
I miss their live shows! I just want one more!
Whoever filmed this obviously was plugged into the soundboard. That's a rare thing for Fugazi. Must have been a friend.
Fugazi recorded the audio of a shit load of the shows themselves, most available at the Fugazi live series archive. I assume someone synced up the video and the audio from there as with a lot of the live Fugazi recordings on here!
@@TheHeroAppeared not a shit load…virtually almost EVERY concert they played was recorded!!! Heh my band could no way afford that much blank tapes…guess that’s what happens when uou don’t buy beer at evey show, you can afford shit like this. And be sober enough to organise it all!!!!
Amazing performance and great quality recording
This is a solid channel. Discovered some real gems over the years. Fugazi can do no wrong
amazing Ian made it through the show losing his voice
Never seen a better live show than this one ! Auplause for this video Unartig Streaming !
Memories from 20+ yrs unearthed. Very grateful for this video and for the opportunities to experience Fugazi in person, absolutely shaping my vision for music.
I'm one of the lucky ones who caught 'em twice. And they really were as amazing as legend has it. Even on the nights where they were sloppy and had some missed cues going from one song into another, they would make up for it by just rocking the hell out of those songs and by turning them into slightly looser jams that would get tweaked with extra noises or rearranged rhythms and pauses. That shit was exciting! They really weren't afraid to take risks live and get adventurous.
3½ decades.. never saw em because I knew I would def get caught running away here... Had to give Tix to friends and GTFO runaway as fast as possible to avoid lauren lockdown.
Réclamation still sounds great )!(-- thanx
Outstanding
oh my god. this is phenomenal.
Unreal❤ i literally have chills i was 9 yrs old then i wish i coukd have been at that show
I remember there used to be just a video of No Surprise from this show on youtube and I always hoped they'd have more footage because the recording quality was so good - many thanks for both recording this and making it available!
And the same version of this live is incredible
The cheek of the audience in the beginning! Straight after the best live sounding snare drum I've ever heard 🔥🔥🔥
"what do you guys want today" is such a funny way to start a show
I've never seen this video. Amazing sound and video from one camera. Just brilliant from the greatest no frills band ever.
THE quintessential Fugazi. There will NEVER be a band that holds a candle to them. Honest, Original, No Nonsense. They are LEGENDS.
sehr geil!
More Fugazi please. The world needs these guys now more than ever. How great would it be if they put out a new album and toured after all the shit that’s happened. (Come back to Yakima, WA). We’d all go. Thanks for the upload. Fugazi is that one band you never stop listening to and is unlike any other.
Awesome 🤘🔨
This is on par with Jem Cohen's live footage from Instrument. Thank you for posting this!
Some nice camera work here
I think some of this was in it!?
Good old days ! loads of goodwill
This recording is f-ing stellar! What a killer venue. Amazing
AmaZing camera work 5:18
amazing footage... thanks... Daniel (Tijuana)
Andale Traka, acuérdate del Soma jaja, saludos.
Saw them in 92 or 93 at city Gardens in Trenton New Jersey best show ever!
Put this on late last night, and as I began to fall asleep, the shouty vocals were bothering me. However, its now the next morning. And its incredible.... Great music, love the dynamics and energy
this is gold
Just found one of my ticket stubs.
Wednesday October 16th, Honolulu 1996.
what a cool venue! and a cool band. if you saw them you were truly lucky. I'm plenty old enough to have seen them but it just never happened.
Eternal gratitude for posting this.
I saw them this year in Bergara. Real fucking awesome gig!
That snare sounds beautiful.
love how guy stands back during recap modotti to put the attention on joe
Love that
The last song is cut. What a pity!!!!! It’s one of the best songs, rarely played in live
Joe Lally 4 ever.....keep it tight as fck!
no me canso de escuchar esto.
Wish I had this on DVD.
I can burn it for you and make a copy. $5.00 just like they charged for live shows. Kidding...Get in touch..I'll mail it free.
before mobile phones and "social" media destroyed our all lives and experiences like these - everyone is just enjoying and living in the moment here, not recording and showing off
Touche, very true, phones & Zuckerberg are the beginning of the end, Any old footage of any live act before say. 2005 shows people just getting into it, after iPhones came, the interaction, excitement level, danger, edge, anticipation & involvement have just dissipated, glad I was gigging from the 80's . 90's & those memories are locked in Me from living them. .........
che bomba assoluta
NEED FUGAZI NOW MORE THAN EVER
what a show!
Wonderfull Concert place )!(---
Saw them in the same room 4 years earlier on July 4th. Happily, the only fireworks were onstage.
And I am first here, thank you for sharing!
Awesome
1:09:22 playing Promises which is not in the setlist. Fugazi musical supergenius! :-)
This is the most powerfull honest experience if ever heard true Born 1981
HOW AM I JUST DISCOVERING THIS VIDEO NOW?
Qué banda!!!
I grew up in the DC area, so I was spoiled with seeing these guys for free at Ft. Reno park tons of times (amongst other venues). They're all solid dudes, and some of the hardest working fellas in rock. They epitomized the DIY punk ethos.
