We are talking about EVERYDAY woman carry so she’s going to go with the lighter one and if she cannot hit with it then looks like she needs to practice more. Also in everyday carry not household carrying… why are you trying to shoot someone 25-30 ft away when they are running away. If you didn’t have more than one round in their a- when they were up on you before they hit 25 ft then maybe you should become more aware of your surroundings. Also she should practice without ear plugs cause after first shot she could have ringing of the ear and not be able to deal with another shot so she needs to be used to the sound.
I have had both for years, and have had no issues. I like them both. Be careful with the gun-handling. There are numerous times the gun handler flags themselves or someone else, as well as coming very close to doing either, in the video. Don't be too casual as that can become a bad habit. Accidents happen to the best of us.
Ditto to both comments. Both guns have ammo they don't routinely take well. If you're only using ammo that the Glock likes and the Ruger doesn't like rather than ammo that both guns like, then whose fault is that? When using the correct ammo, I have zero issues from either gun. I'd delete this video and publish a video with ammo the guns enjoy. The critique of Ruger isn't fair.
I’ve had a Glock 42 for 4 yrs & pocket carry it daily..I’ve shot 100’s & 100’s of rounds threw it & have never had a issue of any kind & like all glocks it’s a shooter & is extremely accurate..trust me guys u will never be sorry if u purchase a G42.. it’s just in a different league when it comes to 380’s… top shelf gun ..🇺🇸😎
I brought a LCP for my wife back in '18, but never got the chance to shoot it until a few months ago due to the range being closed. It malfunctioned almost every round! I was shooting steel, after switching to brass, it was a little better. I emailed Ruger, they sent me RMA via FedEx within 24hrs. I sent it back to Ruger, and within 7 days, it was returned. They replaced the inner recoil spring, slide assembly and barrel. It was stated in the repair invoice that 30 rounds were fired at their range without any malfunctions. I took it to range, shot 30 rounds of Federal 380...it was perfect...and it was more accurate. I noticed with the new parts, that it's a lot more snap. Now it's time to take the wife to range again to see how she handles the recoil.
G42 is extremely reliable, I’ve owned it since 2014 and the only time I had issues was when I was first shooting due to “Limp Wresting”, not the gun. I’ve put 1k’s of rounds thru it with No malfunctions. Just trust your ammo selection. It’s in my CCW rotation along with my G19/4 and G23/5.
Ruger it's not a bad gun but it's just too small cheaply made they just don't make good firearms anymore like they did 20-30 years ago but the Glock 42 is a fantastic little pocket gun if you could find one buy it magazines are not that expensive it's six shots One in the chamber I would add pinky extension on the magazines they're easy to do great video 🇺🇲💯👍
My wife carrys the 42 every day. I carry one for deep conceal when I can't carry my 19. You should also be shooting the ammo you intend to carry. The issue with not locking back is your thumb pushing the slide lock. Screw Ruger's Little Crappy Pistol.
she def prefers the glock... i honestly like it too. Posting a new video today with more footage of it working correctly with better ammo. We were experimenting with some diff brands and have it dialed in now.. the "sig" ammo has worked best in it so far after trying 4-5 diff brands.
Great video. I just bought the G42 very excited to get it to the range soon. I have read myself and the guy at the gun counter told me the G42 and the LCP do not like cheap ammo. In my opinion no firearm will preform at its best with cheap ammo. You get what you pay for. Loved the video👍
For a self defense, point and shoot gun, the Ruger is fine. Easily concealable. Not a gun I would shoot for fun because its not fun to shoot. Way too snappy to shoot more than a magazine or 2. The Glock is a much better shooter comfort wise. My wife has the LCP but looking to upgrade her to a Max or 42.
I’ve had my LCP for over 10 yrs & it’s the only micro .380 that’s NEVER malfunctioned w/any kind of ammo. The G42 suffered every kind of malfunction you can name. That said I still prefer a small revolver & EDC the S&W 340PD. Much more reliable than either of the two you are testing here.
I have both and the key for the G42 is the grip. From almost 1300 rounds in the G42, only a few failed to eject due to wrong grip. Once I corrected my grip, never had any issues. With the LCP however, you need good ammo, meaning Federal, Hornady critical defense are the brand I rarely have issues with the LCP. For high CC, for example, when wearing training outfit, I’ll keep the G42. Otherwise, I’ll carry a P365 9mm.
I have the 42 I put after market sights on it,tungsten guide rod for more weight and a TLR6 laser light with a 8 round mag I can hold a 2.5 in group at 25 yards the 42 is the smallest Gun I found the 42 to be the smallest Gun out there that actually runs like a full size combat pistol
Good afternoon. I have a G42 myself. It's really all I need. That being said, I just want to let you know that I was going to upset the Tungsten guide rod as well. After doing some research, I saw a few video's showing their G42's malfunction after installing the Tungsten guide rod. That being said, I'm just here letting you know what I've heard (I'm not here to bash a fellow firearm owner). If it works for you, that's all that matters. Btw, what sights did you go with? I've got to get some for mine, but been putting it off. Take care and I hope you have a great weekend.👍
Sig P365, Ruger LCP Max. Both have 10 round mags and tritium night sights standard. Glock 42 is the best of the two in the video but only 6 round mag, plastic white sights and is much harder to pocket carry than the LCP. I have all three. Ruger LCP Max is the easiest for pocket carry and the worst by far for recoil. All three have great triggers unlike the LCP in the video.
Ruger LCp hammer it is best. The Glocks are striker fire pistol sistem, and fail some tiemps. La LCP Ruger pega fuerte a los fulminantes los premier la aguja lanzada es debil, es mas confiable la ruger.
I have both Glocks and the LCP, as well as a LC9. I carry my G43 and my LCP for concealed carry. The LCP has never failed to feed or stove pipe. Neither has my Glock. The problem is the long trigger pull on the LCP. I had to put a laser on it just to make it somewhat accurate. And it slaps. My palm is always sore after practicing with this firearm. My G20 doesn't slap my palm like the little LCP. The LC9 is a constantly rusting, long trigger pull POS. I got it free in a trade for another gun. The original owner didn't even want it.
I EDC the Ruger LCP Max. It is the most concealable, high-capacity 380 on the market. I replaced the trigger with the Sigurd and upgraded to a 13-pound spring and a stainless steel guide rod. It eliminated the trigger pinch and reduced the recoil. The Glock only holds 6 rounds while my Max is 12 + 1.
Surprised at you all’s lack of gun safety. I don’t care if the gun is empty you never have the barrel pointed at someone NO MATTER WHAT. Practice better habits! Btw that ammo is trash because those glock 42’s rarely ever jam.
I would think something DA/SA or DAO (semi auto or revolver) would be a better purse gun. I just think the chance of an accidental discharge is much greater with a SA cocked hammer or cocked striker fired weapon. Given the low chance of actually using a gun in a defensive situation, I would error on the side of safety. My two cents. Thanks for sharing.
I have yet to run a full box of ammo in my LCP2 without about 20% malfunctions. Mostly FTF. I have installed a spring kit and guide rod upgrade but haven’t tested it yet. I don’t have high hopes to fix these issues. So far it’s a POS.
I have a Ruger LCP Max and put a little over 2,000 rounds of quality ammunition through it without a jam. The remark about "gun show ammunition" was probably correct. Add the "brand new" remark and I also begin to wonder if it was also properly cleaned and lubricated, or used "right out of the box".
Lubricated yes - cleaned.. no it was clean being new. We plan on picking up the LCP max and actually trying again in another video. I really think we had bad ammo.
Maybe I was just lucky but I’ve had my LCP for years & it has never malfunctioned w/hundreds of rounds of FMJ & HP. Interestingly when I tried the G42 it would not get through a single mag w/o a misfeed. These little guns can be tricky so if you get a good one hang onto it.
Thank you! I tried diff brand ammo the following weekend and it worked fine. I think it was something bad. Out of the box we had 5 that did not fire with a indent on the primer.. kinda crazy.
It may have been an old G42 when there were early mag issues or an after market mag or one of the most common is user error or cheap ammo. In any case, Glock has already had 6 six years to work out the defects with the G42. You may have just been lucky with the Max and unlucky with the G42, but the law of averages are in Glocks favor buy a large margin across the board. I would rather have a G42 and have Glock make it reliable, but they can't help user error, bad ammo and other errors that is not their fault.
You're right I know what's going on with Olympus and you didn't limestone that's why I did a jam with you might never jams the only time I've had jams with mine with some bad ammo
ammo related, slide bite and limp wrist can all cause failures, with tiny guns muzzle awareness is a mistake lots of people make including well trained professionals, but looks like coments already gave a few gentle lectures on safety, the Ruger Lcp 380 is good for for deep cover but draw back is for some to small and more difficut to rack and reload, i have one and its a experts gun for that very reason, Glock 42 is easier but Ruger Lcp learning curve is longer but you can master it eventually, under cover police use the Ruger Lcp because of long heavier trigger pull allowing you to carry it even in forbidden places, makes a good jog or walk the dog gun, even smimming gun you can have it with you swimming actually in the water, people found unique ways to swim with it but also making shure they dont lose it in the bottom of the water, the ruger lcp has succesful defense incidences proving it can work for defense provided you use reliable ammo for defense loads, a 63 year old female store employee defended herself with a couple shots in a robbery, the first shot would have been fatal but she fired about 2 times, the guy didnt make it out the front door all the way, its shot placement that does the job in defense, even if full metal jacket target loads hit the right spot its good for defense, although fmj is not optimal it penetrates deep and never should be under estimated as with a 22 lr, the price on the basic Ruger Lcp is so low its afforble for every one, including girls who insist leggings is all the ever will wear, if a purse having a no zip top and no zip compartment is good to grab gun quickly, or colder weather right in jacket pocket come out quick, with heavier weight trigger its fine for a pocket and is unlimited in any way you want to carry, sneaky pete holsters for open carry look lie a cell phone holder so you cant go wrong with a Ruger Lcp, a guy even went hog hunting with it, crazy but one shot kill 100 grain sig fmj ammo but any fmj would have done the job, its always been about shot placement hunting or defense and practice defense drills, run and gun with cover so that even a tiny pistol can be just as effective as a larger higher capacity gun, i usually have a spare 10 round mag and a lcp 2 mag that is 7 and one in the pipe, one more the factory mag and longer grip, but even short can be mastered, for accurate shot you can pull most of the travel out of trigger to a artificial wall made by your stagging trigger pulling up lots of the travel except the last 1/8 inch, on back of pistol to you can see where hammer drops in relation to where it is when it drops, you can carry 2 pistols like a new york reload and possibly arm another person with 6 plus one in the pipe, a clean and lubed ruger lcp with good ammo is a very reliable micro gun, for its the power to weight ratio is incredible, 200 ft/lbs on some hot loads make it close to a 38 snub in energy and sometimes equal, being 10 oz unloaded and 11 oz loaded depending on grain weight of round its simply amazing, put a 460 engine in a ford pinto and a ruger lcp is what you got
Believe it or not - after trying different ammo - its been working great! The wife carries it (the lcp) every day We plan to make a follow up video - as i feel we had way too many issues in this one due to the ammo . Thank you for the info! I appreciate it💪🏼
@@BVCTactical every one needs a deep cover ruger lcp 380, the price now is very low, its a stealth pistol meaning very sneaky unnoticeable and tactical in its our way, stealth is a forgotten art in the gun community, low profile yet highly tactical, a threat to you or others have no clue your going to handle the situtation
@@BVCTactical it may sound funny but run and gun with it, i use one piece of cover and two paper threats at about 10 yards, if we train with a threat will be sorry even crossing the path of mighty mouse 380 🐀 😁
I checked out your channel.. you made a very good point about clearing the gun on video! it 10000% makes sense - and really made me realize where we went wrong on this one.. moving forward i will use that advice on future videos
I won't comment on the sexism in assuming women can't handle a gun, but the best gun for anyone is one that is comfortable enough to carry every day, and that you can shoot accurately under stress. Shot placement is more important than caliber or ammo selection.
Get the Glock but get the 43 in 9mm , same size but you’ll have better ammo options. Get some 115 grain non plus p ammo or some 147 grain sub sonic ammo , way less recoil.
U may thank it’s the same size but it’s not .that small amount & difference is huge when it’s in ur pocket plus the 43 is a lot more snappy than the 42 u can get back on target quicker with the 42 than the 43 that being said I luv all Glocks & to each his own..
I’ve owned an LCP for years with only one light strike in a session of shooting 250 rounds. The light strike was just past round 200. Other than that, never any other issues. I replaced it with an LCP Max giving me double the capacity with the 12 round magazines. Haven’t shot it yet but also have my eyes on a 42 also. I think you guys had some crappy gun show ammo in this video or otherwise both guys would have cycled properly. Just think of the money you saved on the ammo.
That LCP is an old model…..The LCP MAX is the way to go with the best micro 380…..10 or 12+1 with the 12 round optional magazine for the LCP MAX gives you 13 rounds of reliable functionality……..I have the LCP MAX with 500 rounds of various ammo with no malfunctions….I carry mine in a sticky holster right in my front pocket daily…..
For all you 380 naysayers. Check out the stats from a 10 year study with over 7000+ actual shooting events. This guy works with law enforcement and trauma surgeons. From 380 all the way up too 44 mag there us only a 3% difference as to 1 shot stop the threat. Don't be fooled that this 9mm/380 is an anemic round. I don't care what the FBI says, ballistic gel is Not a good medium to test the performance of a round for defense against attacking humans. Ballistic gel dies not have anywhere near the composition of the human body. Therefore it is not real world comparable.
I'm thinking of getting the 42 myself I have tried the lcp and the Beretta pico and the spectrum and with those I found out big palms stubby fingers don't work. I get along with the slim line single stack g48 but in my line of work I sit 90 percent of the time and carrying APX gets real uncomfortable quick
Dude it's new. Put 200 rounds through it and good defense ammo like Precision One made specifically for the Glock 42. It's +p and cycles everything. Polish your rampfeed and you will be good to go.
What's up the editing out the actual results. I get 1 shot with the Glock Then it cuts out after it malfunctions. I'm not finished hopefully the rest is legit this is my first time watching your channel.
Yup, the gun is a bit heavier, but to this day the only auto my missus ever carried...however, these days she back to carrying revolvers, I'm good with that...
big dude is limp wristing both guns the other dude and your wife are gripping it better , the big dude didn't seem comfortable with the smaller framed guns.
@@BVCTactical I love my glock 19X, but when i first shot it, the gun show ammo kept jamming it up. With good ammo, i never had a problem. Appreciated the video.
You might want too switch up the ammunition that can cause issues as will with those 380 and also you range safety and try not too point the guns at each other and more in a safe direction but over good review.
The Max is way overpriced for a, mid-grade pistol that is less reliable, mid-grade barrel, no captive recoil spring, cheaper parts and materials, fails to lock back on last round, etc., just because it has a few extra rounds capacity. The G42 is high grade pistol that includes 2 magazines, plastic gun case, has plus 2 extended magazines for $25, high capacity after market magazines, polygonal barrel, captive recoil spring, etc. That is one expensive magazine on the Max. :)
That is why if I buy a LCP gun, it would be the original. At 370 that is close to the G42's 419. Plus you "need" another Mag for the Max. The first LCP is 199. My debate is the LCP vs the G42. People also forget about ammo and range costs when buying a new gun.
She will leave the Glock at home because of weight, length and height....my exp. with three adult female ccw's. Clipdraw is also their preferred method of carrying after much trial, error and wasted $'s.
Max. working pr. : 21.5 ksi for the .380; 35 ksi for the 9mm. Be prepared to practice 3 times as much to master a 67% hotter round in similar weight micro.
I pocket carry a GX4 for almost two years now. I really enjoy it, but.... it s a little heavy come shorts season. Now if you are just a jeans guy, you would be fine, but there are times it's not the most comfortable so something lighter is desired. I put a G42 in my pocket at Academy and it is smaller than the GX4. According to handgun hero unloaded, there is a 5 oz weight difference with the GX4 and G42.

Ammo was trash follow up video coming
Hope you guys find a good one. Local gun shops might have a wall of guns to try before you buy.
thank you!
ammo related, slide bite and limp wrist can all cause failures, with tiny guns muzzle awareness is a mistake lots of people make including well trained professionals, but looks like coments already gave a few gentle lectures on safety, the Ruger Lcp 380 is good for for deep cover but draw back is for some to small and more difficut to rack and reload, i have one and its a experts gun for that very reason, Glock 42 is easier but Ruger Lcp learning curve is longer but you can master it eventually, under cover police use the Ruger Lcp because of long heavier trigger pull allowing you to carry it even in forbidden places, makes a good jog or walk the dog gun, even smimming gun you can have it with you swimming actually in the water, people found unique ways to swim with it but also making shure they dont lose it in the bottom of the water, the ruger lcp has succesful defense incidences proving it can work for defense provided you use reliable ammo for defense loads, a 63 year old female store employee defended herself with a couple shots in a robbery, the first shot would have been fatal but she fired about 2 times, the guy didnt make it out the front door all the way, its shot placement that does the job in defense, even if full metal jacket target loads hit the right spot its good for defense, although fmj is not optimal it penetrates deep and never should be under estimated as with a 22 lr, the price on the basic Ruger Lcp is so low its afforble for every one, including girls who insist leggings is all the ever will wear, if a purse having a no zip top and no zip compartment is good to grab gun quickly, or colder weather right in jacket pocket come out quick, with heavier weight trigger its fine for a pocket and is unlimited in any way you want to carry, sneaky pete holsters for open carry look lie a cell phone holder so you cant go wrong with a Ruger Lcp, a guy even went hog hunting with it, crazy but one shot kill 100 grain sig fmj ammo but any fmj would have done the job, its always been about shot placement hunting or defense and practice defense drills, run and gun with cover so that even a tiny pistol can be just as effective as a larger higher capacity gun, i usually have a spare 10 round mag and a lcp 2 mag that is 7 and one in the pipe, one more the factory mag and longer grip, but even short can be mastered, for accurate shot you can pull most of the travel out of trigger to a artificial wall made by your stagging trigger pulling up lots of the travel except the last 1/8 inch, on back of pistol to you can see where hammer drops in relation to where it is when it drops, you can carry 2 pistols like a new york reload and possibly arm another person with 6 plus one in the pipe, a clean and lubed ruger lcp with good ammo is a very reliable micro gun, for its the power to weight ratio is incredible, 200 ft/lbs on some hot loads make it close to a 38 snub in energy and sometimes equal, being 10 oz unloaded and 11 oz loaded depending on grain weight of round its simply amazing, put a 460 engine in a ford pinto and a ruger lcp is what you got
🇺🇸
is it the ammo or the gun?
Get the Glock but get the 43 in 9mm , same size but you’ll have better ammo options. Get some 115 grain non plus p ammo or some 147 grain sub sonic ammo , way less recoil.
good call! we will look into it
@@BVCTactical I have a 43 , a 26 and a 17. All great guns.
My 43 is larger than my 42
U may thank it’s the same size but it’s not .that small amount & difference is huge when it’s in ur pocket plus the 43 is a lot more snappy than the 42 u can get back on target quicker with the 42 than the 43 that being said I luv all Glocks & to each his own..
We will have to test/try one
Its small- but big enough for someone with larger hands to hang onto . The LCP is tiny i feel - but need to try a LCP max
Part 2 uploading Right now...

The new LCP Max is a much better gun than the old LCP.
You should review it.
Maybe try the Ruger LCP Max, newest and larger capacity, but I am a Glock Fan Boy!
I would definitely carry a 42 Glock 380
The way these people handle these guns , flaging each other and such shouldn't be handling a fire arm.
yah, and bad trigger discipline.
There's nothing wrong with the lcp if you use good ammo. And why would you carry a .380 without good ammo?
42 over the lcp, however the lcp max game changer.
I can't decide. I love both of them.😊
No comparison! Lcp is like a civic and g42 is an accord or acura.
Right
He should make a magazine for the G42 that holds more than 6 rounds…
Need to get one. Both were new out - the - box
I am hoping that shield arms will make a 15 rounder like they do for the 43x. The LCP Max with a 12 round mag is pretty amazing.
Theres no way 😂A light primer? On a glock? I bet a ruger wouldn’t have a light primer 💯
Old original lcp is junk. That's why Ruger came out with the lcp ll and then the max.
It looks like the big guy and girl were just holding the guns with limp wrists
Bersa thunder, hands down.
We will have to pick one up and try it
Yup, the gun is a bit heavier, but to this day the only auto my missus ever carried...however, these days she back to carrying revolvers, I'm good with that...
big dude is limp wristing both guns the other dude and your wife are gripping it better , the big dude didn't seem comfortable with the smaller framed guns.
the fact that you didn't try other ammo was strange.
Follow up video with new ammo coming. I did not have any on me at that time
@@BVCTactical I love my glock 19X, but when i first shot it, the gun show ammo kept jamming it up. With good ammo, i never had a problem. Appreciated the video.
I think yall should try the lcp max. It's better the lcp and all areas. Also p365 in 380 is pretty good too
I will pick one up to compare
The BEST 380 Pistol for the Wife? (Part 2 ) Glock 42 VS Ruger LCP
ua-cam.com/video/bnnGYcWWn-c/v-deo.html
I have always had trouble with gun show ammo..glock 19 and lip max. I use federal in all semi autos now..
Its def the last time i will use it … working on follow up video. Both have worked great with Sig ammo
You might want too switch up the ammunition that can cause issues as will with those 380 and also you range safety and try not too point the guns at each other and more in a safe direction but over good review.
thank you 🙏
The Glock 42 jams with certain ammo
I agree they both do
You don't need sights on these type of guns just point shoot and run there not intended to be combat pistols
The BEST 380 Pistol for the Wife? (Part 2 ) Glock 42 VS Ruger LCP
ua-cam.com/video/bnnGYcWWn-c/v-deo.html
I didn't understand why you kept them in the sun after mentioning you shouldn't.
The LCP does seem to be a little prone to limp wristing jams.
G42 for the win 🥇
That is why if I buy a LCP gun, it would be the original. At 370 that is close to the G42's 419. Plus you "need" another Mag for the Max. The first LCP is 199. My debate is the LCP vs the G42. People also forget about ammo and range costs when buying a new gun.
She will leave the Glock at home because of weight, length and height....my exp. with three adult female ccw's.
Clipdraw is also their preferred method of carrying after much trial, error and wasted $'s.
good info!
I agree I have both I tend to grab the ruger most days but both work for me.
Too comfortable with the trigger finger on the trigger as she's moving around. Not good.
A 43x would be sweet pocket cut
It's just on the hard to hide side of life
They are not about the same size.... lol
Where is the Ruger LCP MAX? Good weapon small holds 10!
We will have to pick one up and try it
Fat hands on small guns make malfunctions
Crappy ammo that is the problem
Yes
Did you know the t shirt you are wearing is a company that donates money to anti gun groups.
There is no way I would ever buy a Ruger 22 a Ruger 380 or Ruger 9 mm
Barrel all over the place, cringy 😳🤣✌️🍺🇺🇸
👍🏼 💀
crappy ammo.
How about Ruger lcp max?
If you like the glock should just get a taurus gx4 they are the same size but 9mm with more rounds.
Max.
