  • We get SO MANY questions about our character choices when we act out each enneagram type.
Why does she have that funny accent?
    Why is she so bossy?
Why does she act like my elementary school P.E. teacher?
We decided to share our thoughts on each of the enneagram types we portray. Our hope is this helps our viewers better understand our choices - and we can communicate with one another as we evolve in our beloved role of bringing you enneagram content that makes you laugh so hard you spit out your coffee.
We like to talk, so this is a long one, friends! Feel free to skip right along to your type, if you wish. Here's where they are:

Love hearing the motivation behind your 2! One thing that I (2w1) always notice and struggle with inside of your character... is the drive. Not sure if this is a common thing for 2’s, because you NAIL the stereotype, but my drive and motivation is much less “Please, Please Love me!” more “I have a compulsive NEED for you to know that you are Loved! mmKay!”
    Thank you for making this!!

I am a 9w1 and I often feel like the videos don’t quite “get me” because they rely so often on the napping, which I don’t do. But I definitely relate to the fear of conflict. Also, I would say that I do sometime have opinions I don’t express, but at other times I can see both sides of the argument so well that I don’t have a clear opinion of my own. My husband is a two, and one difference that is interesting to note between 2s and 9s is that I often don’t like getting credit for things. I’d rather not have attention drawn to myself (even sometimes positive attention). Whereas he likes receiving praise/thanks for his help. Also, we are both good at being empathetic listeners, but he is much better at following through with helping actions when people are hurting, whereas I can easily stop at listening and words of comfort and never follow through with actions. We love your videos!

As a 6w5 I’d love to see more than just the ultra-prepared paranoid worry wort. Sixes can be very rebellious, especially in the face of unjust systems. Like Ones, we like rules, but if those rules are unjust or ineffective or counterproductive we will not follow them.

Oh my goodness, I LOVED this! Tip about 1s: we *want* to be organized and get all the things done, but our inner critic often tells us we aren't doing it "right" or that it could be done better. As an example, our planner might be organized, but we worry the recipe binder needs serious work!

@Laura Connell OH MY WORD I do the same thing. I see enneagram stereotypes and I think, "man...they really give me so much credit. I do NOT do all those things, let alone perfectly." Still nice to see the good in your number and get a better perspective of what most people are thinking. (A hard-to-swallow pill for anyone who hasn't taken it yet: People are NOT thinking about you as much as you think they are.)

I really love how Leeann explained 9. Especially the "secretly very opinionated...." "The still waters run very deep"...so true. Being a 9 is tough never being able to express these opinions. So many thoughts running through my mind during heavy discussions... but I just cant seem to express them for fear of conflict or simply... no one wants to hear my thoughts. That, or often feeling on the fence. We TRULY CAN see all sides to every thing and sometimes that makes us fence sitters... and we fear that we can appear uneducated/careless because of it... or that we really are careless/uneducated. I feel a certain pressure to have a clear opinion because everyone else seems to.... but I don't, I genuinely see both sides. It can be annoying lol. I think Leeann understands us 9s really well. Michelle I always assumed you were an 8 or 3. I think your 8 comes out just slightly in all of your characters....As for Leeann, i always thought you were a 7 or 2 based on the characters you play. I NEVER would have guessed 4. Loved hearing your thoughts.

I am a 9 as well and loved how Leeann described it too. Also your description really hit close to home! I totally feel the same way about being able to see both sides and feeling wishy-washy because of that so then I don't share my opinion. My dad is a 5 so he has a very hard time understanding the lack of a clear opinion :) Cheers to being a 9!!

I'm also a type 9. In Junior High and High School I absolutely hated that they wouldn't let you use "I" or "I think." I completely agree with you that sometimes I develop opinions on things I don't really care about because of societies pressures. I also do have some very strong opinions, but since I'm so good at seeing other perspectives, my opinions are easily changed by a good argument. Especially if the person brings in their personal experiences.

9 here chiming in (under all the other 9s of course) I like how the videos have expanded on 9 a lot. At first I think the characterization was a little flat focusing on napping to cope (although I've taken my fair share of angry/avoiding naps). It is weird having so many thoughts but prefering to let others speak. I definitely have things to say, but not always the reason or motivation to say it in real time

Wow Michelle, that was an awesome personal divulgence😄. I just once and for all determined i am a 5w4 and not 4w5. By totally relating to that 8 confession.
I'm thinking because i never feel i go into 3 territory (i wish). And I already relate more to 5. And that 5 goes into 8 as a healthy space. That i'm deciding on 5w4.
I think being an infp makes me question if i might be a 4 and not realize it. But actually🤔 being around 4's in real life is such a profound experience for me. Where i feel as if I'm outside looking in. Really observing them in a profound way... oh that even sounds 5 huh🤔.
      Am i getting this right?😄🤷🏻‍♀️

You ladies have brought so many laughs to my quarantine 💕 I love it all. I’m a 9 and would love to see her empathy come out more. That’s what the conflict avoidance and peace-keeping really comes from, IMHO. The 9 takes in all the other types and tries to stand in everyone’s shoes at once. Sometimes it’s so overwhelming, a nap may help. But mostly 9’s help people discover common ground, or even create it. We are super intelligent and creative when it comes to cultivating harmony. Especially as a 9w1, naps aren’t a big part of my routine - that 1 inner critic is too busy reminding me what I should be doing instead!

Thanks so much, Leann and Michelle. This was excellent! I am a 6w7, and really like your take on each of these types -- I believe you have captured the essence of each individual type. Here is a pandemic special sharing: Last night, I had a telephone conversation with a good friend, who is a 7 -- I'm not sure of her wing. My friend told me that she has purchased several masks to wear to the store, etc. I, as a 6, am frugal and just keep washing my ONE mask. However, that would never work for my flamboyant friend. Also, she did not let California's shelter-in-place law keep her from driving 150 miles one way to celebrate with her family for an early birthday get-together last weekend. "We were careful," she said. The bottom line: Sevens will NEVER suffer socially. They will always find a way -- or several ways -- to have fun. With a 7 wing, I share a part of that characteristic, but only a part. That's enough for me. Keep up the great and highly entertaining videos!

Leeann, I love when your Five says "as everybody knows." It always reminds me of the time, in middle school, when my youth group went canoeing. I remember identifying a great blue heron and everyone in my canoe (including an adult leader) wondering how I knew that. It was at that moment that I realized that being a walking Audubon book is not the norm. I also love how your Five always wears comfy clothes, because that is me to a T.

This is so helpful and thoughtful. At the beginning of learning about enneagram, I thought I was a 2 but I’m definitely a 9 so I understand your point about her. Also, distraction and procrastination could not be more on point. I’m “studying” for finals (back in college at 45 because I didn’t finish 1000 years ago) but I’ve gotten through 2 seasons of Survivor reruns and quite a few rounds of 2048 this week...which I play during the Survivor reruns. So...two birds. I stress about test taking more because I don’t want the professor to feel bad about my not knowing the information because I didn’t really understand it from her recorded lecture and too nervous to ask questions during our class meetings on zoom because I thought they might be dumb questions. And now we are being proctored on zoom so my anxiety is through the roof because we are being watched so closely and I’m afraid about where my eyes are looking because I’m nervous she thinks I might be cheating. It’s exhausting worrying about what others think. I need to get over that. I’m sorry this is so long.

Hi! Type 1 here ✌️! I love your videos and I wondered about your characters (and your types) for a while now! I loved this!! My tips are:
1 - I feel like sometimes your portray us as a lot more decisive than we are. Having an Inner Critic means we can get lost in details and take a looooooong time in getting things just the right way. A typical thing for a 1 is saying that the “whole thing was a disaster” because of one little detail that I let escape.
6 - My mother is a 6 so boy do I have inputtttt! One thing that you should remember is that 6s are bad decision makers. My mom will go back and forth between two sides of the same argument for hours on end, and they need the group (family, close friends) to validate their thinking. Aaaannd when they are stressed out and go to three, she just starts doing crazy amounts of chores just to feel productive.
4 - most of my best friends are 4, I just wonder why Leeann always cries so much with this type (just that some variation in the sad range of emotions would be fun to see). I also feel they are the ones who can shout and be angry the loudest, and then just not do anything about it 😂. I laugh so much out of that with my friends.
Thanks for your work guys!! I really mean it when I say I love your work!!!

I’m a 4w5 and I related to so much of what you were saying about yourself, LeeAnn! Yup, I found myself giggling through most of it in recognition. For me, the 5 wing tempers my 4 nature in a healthy way by helping me stay grounded; and 4, as my main type, allows me to enjoy the right brained, emotional part of me that is drawn to the beautiful and mystic.

Leeann, you capture me so well all the time - loving nature, especially birds, using the word beautiful, long winded in my explanations, love documentaries and researching, and never feeling like I know enough. So it’s cool to learn that you are also a 4w5. I know a 9 and you portray her very accurately from my observations. Michelle, as your 6 character, you nailed it with the antibacterial wipes at Disney. When the Covid 19 guidelines came out, I kept thinking that 6s must be thinking, “I told you so.” And your 3 depiction gives me new appreciation for 3s. Thanks, and keep them coming.

What I find most interesting about being a nine is that it's so hard to say that. I took 3 different quizzes to make sure that I was a nine, because even though it fit perfectly I didn't want to say that I was a nine and make people who really were nines upset if they were one (which is actually kind of funny, because of nines relation with anger). The best way that I figured out my nineness was looking at my roommate (who I think is also a nine). We're insanely different, but I think our motivations and fears are the same, and that's what makes you your type. Not the way you act, but your motivation. For instance, I am a nine, but I'm also very vain, so I don't fall into the stereotype of nines not knowing themselves. I am fascinated by my own psyche so I know myself very well.
Anyway, my point is don't be offended by the way that Leeann and Michelle portray your type. You can be the same type as someone else and act very differently, or you might not fall into all of the stereotypes of your type. I love Leeann and Michelle, they introduced the enneagrams to me and I've started working on becoming much healthier and standing up for myself a lot more because of them.

I love my BFF who is a 9. TBH, when she does talk and stand for her perspective, everyone hangs on every word. Especially because I seem to stir up a lot of conflict and then everyone is waiting for her to clear everything up for everyone. Her husband and I are really alike, we want nothing left uncovered- like we want the truth revealed and dealt with. She does not take naps at all. I think she's a 3 wing cause she literally painted the whole exterior of her house, also built planters and grew a bunch of food, and made four amazing mosiacs, and recorded several songs, she's an amazing singer, ummm. Yeah she is quite an amazing woman and she also can't commit to being a 9 but we are all like, "you are a 9." I think my role is to cheer her on and encourage her to take a stand in the places she does truly have a strong sense of what's right.
      I'm rambling like a 4:)

I second the comment below about 1s. I am a 1, and my criticism of others is a direct result of my own self-criticism. The inner critic is a CONSTANT voice in our heads. I sometimes even catch myself talking to myself, calling myself names, etc. (working on it...haha). Also, I'm not a 6, but several of my close friends are 6s, and they are actually very warm, VERY funny people. I can't speak to where that sense of humor comes from, but I thought maybe it would help!

Oh god, I would so be down to providing insight on sixes. Most videos I've seen from multiple channels rely heavily on a "germaphobe" character, which I dont think a lot of sixes actually relate to. I think that the best way to get a feel for a six.... is their purse, or what they pack for a trip. I carry a mini sewing kit, a mini first aid kit, a bottle of any otc meds I might need, full makeup bag for touchups... and something literally called a "mini fashion emergency kit". My family used to laugh about the fact that I, in high school, always had 4-6 AA batteries in my purse UNTIL someone's camera was out of batteries at some point and ooooo the smug just pooled at my feet.

So much this! I want to be prepared for everything, do not readily give a response or my ideas on anything, and hate surprises. I have a strong 5 wing so I can fall victim to analysis paralysis. I definitely check out the menu before I get to a restaurant and select 2nd, 3d and 4th choices- in case they are sold out of the 1st choice. My co-workers/family have referred to me as Mary Poppins- because I always have the most eclectic collection of supplies at the ready! One of my close friends is a 6 and I am a 1. We bonded over this whole thing. She has this need to know what to expect and I have a need to know what the rules are. We're both therapists and, therefore, excellent communicators who also have a ton of baggage (lol). So, when we hang out, she texts me about what her worries are (will we be eating at your place? do you want to order something? should I bring overnight clothes? etc) and I know exactly what we are doing and what the expectations for the evening will be before she even arrives, so I know how to behave. We love this about each other and its utterly annoying to our mutual friend, who is a 9 and would rather not "hash out" everything in detail. So, we just do this with each other now. LOL! Michelle, I am an 8w7 too and died laughing about walking through crowds thinking or saying "Hurry up!" "Don't you have somewhere to be?!" I could not relate more. Definitely a hallmark 8 trait.
Also, I think it's helpful for people/viewers to remember there are 300 different types of oak trees. Aka there are so many variants of each type. You have the number, wing, instinct and then the level of health that person is at during that time of their life.
Leeann, I love the 4s in my life, with their romance and artistic ways and laughed so hard in the thanksgiving skit, when you said, "throw the sprigs haphazardly, whatever way it feels good."
Thank you for creating these videos! They are a treat and I also feel like I learn something every time I watch one, which is also a treat. Big love to you both!

I’m a 7w8, but I have to share about one of my besties, a 6: I was super cleaning my gas stovetop (this experience was so traumatic I even remembered the song I was listening to as I cleaned...a Black-Eyed Pea song in case you’re wondering, but I digress), and I accidentally hit the knob and the igniter wouldn’t stop clicking. The smell of gas scared me, so I ran outside and called my friend, the 6 - not the gas company. I knew she’d know what to do😉

Being a 4, I love how Leeann explained the romantic, calm, beauty seeking 4 type. The way she talks about 4s trying to be unique and how 4s explain a lot was spot on cause I over-explain EVERYTHING (like I'm probably going to through this comment). I feel that 4s are always aware of what their feeling. Some people sometimes don't know what they feel and so they hide it but 4s can really tap into the world of their emotions. They have a desire to find themselves and Leeann's characterization of that was really beautiful and I completely associate with that. (LOL, I'm literally talking like a 4 right now because I'm over-explaining. And explaining that I'm explaining. "I'm here all night folks"). I also love the fact that she loves 7s. 4s and 7s are usually intrigued by each other, hence her love for them. I myself love 7s and wish I could be one. I'm more extroverted do to my 3 wing. I love their acting on Enneagram numbers, keep doing these kinds of videos!!!

Leann, I really want to see a strong & healthy 9 who has learned to share her thoughts (may often read like a scripted diplomatic summary) and only retreats/naps when she absolutely can't keep it together anymore.

I'm a 4, so I can't really think from a 6 perspective, but I have two friends that I think of when I think of the 6. I think most of all they embody the "loyalist" aspect of the 6. They are honestly two of the best people to be able to call friends. What's interesting is one is a 5 wing and one is a 7 wing. I think the 5 wing likes to draw people in with his knowledge of things like comics and music, whereas the 7 wing tends to be the life of the party. They're brothers, so it's very interesting to watch them interact with others and see how they differ in the embodiment of their wings.

You two are so great! I'm a four raised by a depression-era father who would always take more than his fair share of napkins, salt and sugar packets and straws from the cheapest hamburger joint in LA, free candy at a bank, free samples at Penney's etc. etc. So my earliest notions of beauty were book ended by Van Camp's pork and beans and his random hoard of 2nd hand clothes. I know his free-spirited seven and my mom's professorial five shaped my growth as a four. Although it took way too long for me to appreciate it, my dad's love of nature was his greatest gift to me. I wish we had had more moments when we'd marvel together at the wren at the window and the deer at the pond.

I’m new to this enneagram thing. I am a 9 and lean on both of my wings, it just depends on the situation which one comes out. But oh man when Michelle was talking about the 8 in Disney? That is me anywhere there is a crowd, especially in the grocery store! I’m sure it’s comical to see me quietly being passive aggressive going around other shoppers who are HOGGING the whole entire isle😀 At first I took offense to what others talking/teaching about 9’s being a sloth but I am learning that is how I can be sometimes. I am a one. My mother was a nine, and I have a strong nine wing. In fact, as a one, I got the idea that I needed to act like a nine. (This makes sense to me, and probably will to other ones). My husband is probably an eight and I had to learn to speak up because he would bulldoze over me. Once I became able to acknowledge my emotions and then to express them in a healthy way, our marriage became much stronger and I am more able to live as a healthy one. I learned to speak up about my feelings using a series of sentences my therapist taught me: I feel ... When you... and I would like you to ... This reaches him without making him defensive and thus triggering my fear of conflict.
I showed my husband the video about annoying things ones say and he laughed and said it was dead on how I sometimes behave. I am enjoying your series very much!

So all of Leanne’s passive aggressive people pleasing is spot on for me, but then my inner critic is very critical of really just that whole thing. Your guys' videos have made me laugh really hard from hilarious, accurate enneagram representations. Because of the remark at the start of this video, about reading and incorporating the comments, I figured I'll share my own 2 cents and feedback. Again, I love much of your content - at the same time, some of the bits in some of your videos, you guys end up just saying the descriptions of the type instead of characterizing the types. (don't remember any specific examples but here's the basic idea -) E.g., for an 8, instead of the line "I need to control the situation" I'd want to see you acting out and expressing the controlling behaviors and attitudes through the character... Or, for a 2, instead of the line, "I need love" again, I'd like to see the 2 being aggressively needy...
Anyway, you guys are super awesome - can't wait to see more great content!

You two are great! My parents began their enneagram work well before I was even born, so my entire family is very well versed it. Sometimes I get thrown by your interpretations because family comprises of every type except 7 and 8, but since we’ve all done a lot of work on ourselves, we don’t tend to outwardly express as many extreme or stereotypical behavior patterns. I think the enneagram starts to get really tough when you have to identify how it is affecting your decisions and thoughts, even at times when you think you are “completely in control” of your type. As a 4, let me just say that my type is very sneaky, and shows up in ways I am never expecting. However, these videos are such a wonderful way to laugh at ourselves and learn more about our types and others, and it’s such a joy to watch your characters. If you, or anyone else wants to learn more about their types, I definitely recommend listening to podcasts done by Suzanne Stabile. She is a phenomenal enneagram master teacher, with tons of free content.
Thanks for all you do ladies! Stay well😁

Wow, this was so great! Thank you so much for your vulnerability and transparency into your process! I just love everything that y'all are (by which I of course mean "express publicly", everything else is none of my business) and do! As a 9, I really felt seen and understood. I may or may not have teared up at one point; I mean, you know, whatever is easiest for you. :-D
As far as feedback, since you asked (yeah, 9-ing it right up), one point I can speak to personally is that for some of us nines, in leu of naps, we tend to get busy doing the _wrong_ thing. Here's a great quote from, if I recall correctly, the Liturgist podcast about being a 9: "It’s getting busy doing something that keeps you away from doing the thing that you ought to be doing.” I FEEL AND LIVE THAT SO HARD. So, if you can work that aspect more for comedic gold, please do so, and if you can't, please feel free to pretend I never spoke. I'm a 9. Yeah, sorry. Peace be with you! Huge fan. Hugs!! :-D

As a 3, I want nothing more than glory and admiration over just about anything I do. It feels a little pathetic, but feeling seen and validated for what I do was how I defined love. That comes out in every aspect of my life. When it comes to being the first to speak, first to act, first to join, it's me--imposter syndrome and all, trying to hush the voices that tell me I am a fraud and incompetent and that I need to do this to grow in my life... Obviously, I am working on it. LOL.

These videos are great. I have noticed the development of your characters over the past little while and I’m loving it!
What you said about 8’s and how they would prefer to make a decision really quickly and it may be wrong rather than take the time over analyzing to make sure they make the right decision....well that’s exactly what a six does! 😂
My husband is an eight and I am a six and I find a lot of humor in that we are so different on many things but very similar on some. We both value honesty, realism and faithfulness. However six’s are very unsure of themselves and indecisive while eights are the opposite. Also for a six, if something is a possibility than it’s a probability. We are very loyal to our authority even if we question something, we will give them the benefit of the doubt. Hope that helps with your understanding of sixes more! ❤️

Peaceful, introverted 9 here. DON’T ROCK MY WORLD! First of all, I LOVE your videos (see, I had an opinion..yeah me! 🙂). My first and very favorite one I saw was Target shopping, that was hilarious! When you read about 9’s, they seem like the most droll people on the planet, which of course is not true. That being said, although the characterizations are accurate, they are just not as impactful as say the gregarious 7 hula hooping down aisles or the neurotic 6 obsessively disinfecting. It’s just the nature of beast, or in this case the wallflower-ish 9. Love you guys 💕.

So would love to say that I enjoy your videos 100%.
I share them with my friends and family because I feel like it’s a great laugh but great explanation of my type. Michelle- you are being too hard on yourself, I think you play a 6 well. There are only- maybe- 2 videos where I felt you missed some stuff on the 6.
But that could just be me or my wing interfering. As for the other types- any of my friends or family who have taken quizzes or done more research think you nail their types for the most part. Since I know you read the comments now, I’ll start giving any input I have on the 6’s 😂. My husband swears up and down that it’s me when you play that part so, again, so far you nail it!

I love what you girls do! You are both great actresses and I'm happy I came across your videos!
A big thing about 1s that you could include is the perfectionism that makes some of them have a really hard time making decisions. They think that there always is "a better way". Also, not all 1s are neat and tidy. Some tend to be picky about grammar and spelling. Some don't like wasting things, such as water or electricty, making them come up with ways to be efficient. Even when they want to "be edgy", they know they should do "what's right," which brings an inner struggle you could probably include in your character.

9 here! I love these. Comedy is a super helpful avenue for me to share the enneagram, so thank you! 😂 I make my husband watch these in a passive aggressive attempt to get him to better understand himself (and me!). So very 9 of me. 🤦‍♀️😆

This video really resonates with my experiences. I'm a 4w5 and my wing is very influenced by my autism so I info dump constantly about things I know, but sharing my own ideas takes a lot of time! I'm not an introvert, but I do have a lot of social anxiety. Luckily, many of my friends are 7s who really help me push me out of my comfort zone and I love them all so much!
