Former Ferris employee here. They are built with pride in rural Madison County NY. They are now owned by Briggs but even so still focus on being the best in class. We never herd higher ups saying "we need to beat x brand" we just tried to beat our selves. The ICD deck, for exsmple, was a result of listening to north east lawn guys complaints about cut quality. Our local dealers in NY are great and for me if a part is factory direct I know the part is available same day. Unfortunately I can't afford a Ferris yet.
Yeah the adjusting the height on Ferris kinda killed it for me lol pizza trying to sell on you’ll memorize how many turns to get the correct height lmao everyone has their own preference I’ll deal with pull start better then oh shit the battery is dead. Good review guys overall!
I have the FX651V engine on my Exmark Lazer Z 48 inch and it is a great motor... hard to bog down, even in thick grass and it's pretty good on fuel. I have almost 100 hrs on mine now.
I’m not even out there working with you guys and I’m annoyed by Scag!!! Those Scag’s were constantly at the dealership for days how much trouble they were giving you! Even after buying warranty they won’t fix it! Unbelievable! Bye bye SCAG!!! 😡🤬
Y’all will absolutely love the Ferris walk behind. I have the same walk behind and that thing is an absolute beast. It will cut anything you put it up to. The cut quality is great It stripes very well, and Ferris stands behind there products 100% one of the seals in the left hydro pump went out and they sent my delar a brand new hydro pump and they installed it very fast and when my mower was in the shop they gave me another walk behind to use so i wouldn’t get behind on my schedule. And they didn’t charge me anything when they put in the new hydro pump because my mower was still under warranty. That is the only thing I’ve had go wrong on my Ferris. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great walk behind. And another thing is they do extremely well on hills I have no problem with the narrow tires I can put it on any hill and it holds it great.
Hmmm I believe you can unbolt hand pull starter and switch it to either be able to pull from right to left to front or back. I had to switch mine to be able to pull from the back since I have a trailer with 4 ft sides.
I have been running ferris mowers for 15plus years love them... currently we are running a 48 52 and 61 the 52 is my favorite... great channel keep it up...
I run grass flaps on all of my machines. They’ve paid for themselves a few times over by saving time and money when operating around buildings, glass, right of ways, public parks. Love them.
Being a Scag customer for the last 15 years never have I experienced any issues with dealer support. Minnesota Maintenance Equipment are the best for dealer support. Who cuts at 5 inches? Maybe commercial , residential 3 maybe 3 1/4 more than that to me seems like the cut quality is compromised. 12 years my rope lasted as you line your self up with the correct angle to avoid wear. The new Scag is electric start.
We have 2 scags a 52 inch walk behind and a 52 inch tiger cat 2. The walk behind is a key start and we took the spring off the flap so it will lay down. We bent a wheel fork last year and went down to our dealer and he said no problem and had one in 2 days. Everyone has their problems we love scags and our dealer is great.
I love my ferris is700z. Unfortunately I was told they don't have the loaner program. It would have really came in handy when mine was in the shop for a week this past July.
I've been looking for a 36-inch walk behind that Ferris is looking pretty good to me I've considered Scag and other players in the game but I think the ferris has the best features and qualities now I need to find a dealer in Michigan
I guess im randomly asking but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Kingsley Langston I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Kingsley Langston HOLY **** IT ACTUALLY WORKED :O I literally got access to my IG account within about 40 mins of using the site. I had to pay 15 $ but definitely worth the money :O Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
Nick I think the best setup is the Wright stander u have a 48 walk behind and a 48 stand on. And a 36 stand on or walk behind all 3 Ferris sounds like u guys like them. And keep the bumble bee
Ferris is amazing to deal with! I got free demos and every time there is something wrong it’s immediately fixed no questions asked and I can tell you because I have the 48 walkbehind and even with those tires, on nice yards it stripes like boss, they are awesome!
If you look at the tire spec manual, a tall narrower tire may put the same square inches on the ground as a short fatter tire. just my experience from farming. love your vids.
Here in the midwest I never see a professional lawn service rolling with Ferris on the trailer. However I do see probably over 50% rolling with Scag. To me that speaks volumes. To say you would choose the Ferris when you haven't even used it yet is just nonsense.
I personally love scag, my dealer is very very good with support, but I like to run the swz (pistol grip) style walk behinds, I run a swz 48 now and absolutely love it
I have been running wright sence 04 and will tell you they will serve you well. I also run farris stand one. I know that you did not buy but I like for small truck. you would too.
How is the ferris mowing in wet grass I have a Scag 48 in with a hero deck 2022 model. I know the Scag Mow's great in wet grass but I hate the controls so I'm actually looking to make a move on a new walk-behind with different controls
My Snapper Pro S50xt with the ICD deck(Like the Ferris) cuts and stripes great on weekly cuts, bi-weekly on the other hand it does horrible, and has to be double cut.
I could've stopped at the point of the loaner program. That right there is worth its weight in LC customers, and really says it all. Its one thing I will DEFINITELY be looking for when the time comes to purchase my first commercial mower (hopefully end of this year, first full year starting). Also glad to see you started with a Husqvarna ztr, as that is what I have plus a 'Murray' (I swear its a Snapper tho; ssdd right?) ztr.
Pizza sir... I hope Nick is paying you enough to be his main spokesman and presenter. Good job! PS : I run Ferris zero turns with good success for 7 years now. With the walk behind I think they go with the narrow tires to give you better deck "hang out" for trimming around things. Also a walk behind does not carry much rider weight so wider tires are not so important to avoid rutting into the sod. Plus I am sure the narrow tires are a little lower cost for Ferris.
snapper pro ferris are the best out there as far as quality for the money and good engines and quality build , I do wish that snapper pro or ferris would change to a deck height adjustment like what scag has.
It's true about Scag dealer having no loaner program. When I bought my Tiger cat 2, I asked about loaners and they acted as though I was crazy for asking. They said " why don't you just but a second mower ". If I hadn't already signed the papers, that would have had me looking elsewhere. Haven't had any warranty issues yet.
Jeffrey Guyer this is a dealer benefit. If the dealer wants to take care of you he will. Period. My SCAG dealer here in Ky is awesome, loaner program and great support from the regional rep as well. I own 4 Scag Machines and have owned them all except Exmark.
david aldridge I agree, but it is also on Scag management to see feedback from videos like this and think about this issue because it could have an impact on sales. I'm sure they could have some influence with their dealer network.
And where do you guys live, my local dealer has been great with the warranty! You can't categorize all Scag dealers just for a couple of bad customer service.
I Have A Scag SW model walk behind, belt drive & 48inch cut and only 1 year old ,: When I'm cutting in 4th gear it seems slow . Is ANYONE Out Their HAVING The Same Problem? ( Its moving at a general walking pace. Not fast at all.
Sorry u didn't have a good experience with scag I slowly moving to bobcat mowers can u do a videos on there ferris mowers how u like it how they do on the job I am also looking at ferris
I would rather on my Kubota press down with my foot petal. And adjust height with simple turning a knob. No guessing no cracking on anything look down between your legs. Oh it's on 3.5 let me set it to 3.
Have I been mistaken my whole life (serious question) but is the W in KAWASAKI pronounced as a "V" like Nick does @9:15 or is it pronounced just like it reads?
nice review. I've heard that Ferris may have a 5 year warranty if that's true and its transferable that's a winner. waiting to hear about that big rental property hope you get it. Might need some new help 2018 is going to be a great year.
Ferris and snapper are great machines...but have the ICD decks....they are terrible In wet grass in my experience...other than that they do good..and the more grease fittings the btr!
Seems like everyone favors some brand of mower for one reason or another. I guess it all comes down to dealer support in your area . Remember that it depends on what model/engine series you buy as well . Not just scag walk behinds as a whole . They make many different models/engine combos for different needs .The scag walk behinds DO come with an electric start , you just bought a cheaper model . Next time mention price in your review ..You get what you paid for . Ferris is an equally good mower but nowhere close to better . Looks like you have just became a hater on Scag mowers because you have a bad scag dealer in your area. Thats a good reason and its sucks because Ive had nothing but good luck with their support and Im a small one/two man operation . All comes down to the dealers folks , not always the brand of mowers fault IMO. Great video though . Keep it up!
There are much more convenient and definite height adjustment options on other mowers that lock into 1/4” increments with a quarter turn of a wheel, rather than turning a lever 6 times to move it a half inch. And then you gotta make sure you’re perspective of the line is perfectly perpendicular to make sure it’s accurate with this Ferris. The mower is probably badass, but it seems like this dude was reaching for another “plus”
Ferris sounds better and better. Pizza should be a salesman for Ferris. John Deere has a similar loaner program if your equipment has to go in for servicing.
Saving Green Lawn Care that make sense I got the 52'. Please make a video on how the Ferris does on hills really curious to see how it performs. That's why I bought the SWZT because I do many accounts with big hills. Awesome videos man really helpful.
I'm sorry. But turning lever just to get to deck height is negative to me. Oh let me get to 4 turn turn turn. Oh wait it's 4.5 dang. Turn back. That's a thumbs down on adjusting deck height.
mrbigdws29 yes i agree! I would hate that. I’ll stick to my 4 Scag machines and second to none dealer support! One bad experience is a dealer issue not a brand issue... but it was crap about his video and them requesting him to take it down...

Thanks babe!
Saving Green Lawn Care we are in this together 😘💋♥️

Owen Grinnell how does it handle hills
From Tn and my boss and I have 2 ferris and a snapper WB. We lovem and very very hard to break either.
Do you find 52 is too big vs 48. Only 4 inches I suppose. I can’t decide what to go with.
Imo all commercial equipment should be electric start with a pull start for back up
I run grass flaps on all of my machines. They’ve paid for themselves a few times over by saving time and money when operating around buildings, glass, right of ways, public parks. Love them.
Being a Scag customer for the last 15 years never have I experienced any issues with dealer support. Minnesota Maintenance Equipment are the best for dealer support.

We bent a wheel fork last year and went down to our dealer and he said no problem and had one in 2 days. Everyone has their problems we love scags and our dealer is great.
Or to stop the Ferris you could just pull the speed bar strait back its connected directly to those pedals as well.

Another factor, how many times pizza gets the mowers stuck
Nick I think the best setup is the Wright stander u have a 48 walk behind and a 48 stand on. And a 36 stand on or walk behind all 3 Ferris sounds like u guys like them. And keep the bumble bee

Best mower I have is a ferris 32" hydro. Simplicity is their key
Here in the midwest I never see a professional lawn service rolling with Ferris on the trailer. However I do see probably over 50% rolling with Scag. To me that speaks volumes. To say you would choose the Ferris when you haven't even used it yet is just nonsense.
Pull cord is more reliable than turn key.
A great review job. I enjoy it and I have been wondering about the FS and the FX Kawasaki motors. thanks for including that in.
Simon Seymour their both awesome engines when maintained properly
I have to say I love the Exmark Turf Tracer, but if I could get the ECS controls in a Ferris I would buy one RIGHT NOW
What's wrong with the ferris CC controls?
I personally love scag, my dealer is very very good with support, but I like to run the swz (pistol grip) style walk behinds, I run a swz 48 now and absolutely love it
I've never have a dealer just give me a mower when .one breaks. Also why wouldn't they have cover on there.
Only thing I like hugely about the ferris walkbehind is the deck lift one crank think every company should do there's like that
I gree whit u on that
I have been running wright sence 04 and will tell you they will serve you well. I also run farris stand one. I know that you did not buy but I like for small truck. you would too.
Thats one thing that gets me, whats the point in having a warranty of they dont stand behind it
But Nick....have you seen Top Notch Lawn’s video on the pros and cons of the defender racks?
The electric start has to do with the fx series engines, whereas the fs almost always have the pull cords
The narrower tires are to give more trim ability going around obstacles, I suspect the 52 has wider tires.
Zack Smith you are correct. 52 tires are wider
I could've stopped at the point of the loaner program. That right there is worth its weight in LC customers, and really says it all.

What about changing the blades cleaning the deck and regular maintenance between the two?
Nice review guys! We are hoping you have a better experience with Ferris! Loved the bloopers!
ummm the scags controls are responsive like that so you can pop curbs and objects lol
Do a review on hustler mowers standon. my one local dealer only sells deere and hustler. Would help much cause only other dealers are one hr. away.
Good Info Thank you Nick & Pizza . I’m still happy with my Mowers at the Moment , Exmark All Day !!
snapper pro ferris are the best out there as far as quality for the money and good engines and quality build , I do wish that snapper pro or ferris would change to a deck height adjustment like what scag has.
Hi guys, the scag is a old machine you are not comparing apples with apples get real guys.
Hey just out of curiosity why don’t you talk or try out exmark stand on or walk behind. Have you ever owned or operated a commercial exmark?
I like the Ferris I really like the lick for the deck flap. You didn’t say but is there a velkie available for it.
Brad Vaughan I know for a fact there are velkies for them. My friend has a Ferris hydro walk behind with one
How you liking the ferris
It's true about Scag dealer having no loaner program. When I bought my Tiger cat 2, I asked about loaners and they acted as though I was crazy for asking. I had the same issue.
david aldridge I agree, but it is also on Scag management to see feedback from videos like this and think about this issue because it could have an impact on sales. I'm sure they could have some influence with their dealer network.
Awesome review man!!! Obviously SCAB can’t keep up with Ferris, especially in the dealer support factor obviously! Lol!
I love my fw35 except I'm unable to catch grass. I have zoysia so collecting clippings is important. Everything else is great!
How does it do on hills?
Why can't you catch grass....
Hey nick want you just go for stand on mowers instead of the walk behinds, the stand ins acts like a walk behind
Yep!....For sure.....Ferris never lets me down.....all day long.
How does the selkie attach? You have had troubles with the scab (lol).
I only have 1 flaw with the ferris I hate how the hydros take off slowly I like the older style
There is a way to adjust it
And where do you guys live, my local dealer has been great with the warranty! You can't categorize all Scag dealers just for a couple of bad customer service.
I think Ferris should make an option that is incomparable to any other mower, Pizza stuck proof!!! Lol😝 😆 😂
I Have A Scag SW model walk behind, belt drive & 48inch cut and only 1 year old ,: When I'm cutting in 4th gear it seems slow . Is ANYONE Out Their HAVING The Same Problem? ( Its moving at a general walking pace. Not fast at all.
That 15 prolly puts out close to the same as the 20hp.. non emission vs emission.
Happy 6 months pizza!
Wish I had a Ferris dealer closer to me.
Wider body has narrow wheels because your wheelbase can’t be wider than your deck.
nice review. I've heard that Ferris may have a 5 year warranty if that's true and its transferable that's a winner. waiting to hear about that big rental property hope you get it. Might need some new help 2018 is going to be a great year.
Pizza was a cool guy. How time flys.
I did enjoy! Thanks!
Great video boys !!
Ferris and snapper are great machines...but have the ICD decks....they are terrible In wet grass in my experience...other than that they do good..and the more grease fittings the btr!

Id keep the scags and run a second crew. I see you got a second truck in the background. Just thought id throw that out there
Porque mi llanta derecha pierde fuerza
How is that deck height adjustment on the Ferris a plus?
How isn't it?
There are much more convenient and definite height adjustment options on other mowers that lock into 1/4” increments with a quarter turn of a wheel, rather than turning a lever 6 times to move it a half inch. And then you gotta make sure you’re perspective of the line is perfectly perpendicular to make sure it’s accurate with this Ferris. The mower is probably badass, but it seems like this dude was reaching for another “plus”
I'd love the ferris but I'd want to run a velke
Awesome video
what about break downs??? which one has more issues? thax
Scab
How do the scag and Ferris compare on steep banks?
Ferris holds better.
Why do you always have so many cars in your driveway?
Like a boss!!! Cutting grass, making that cash!!
Ferris sounds better and better. Pizza should be a salesman for Ferris. John Deere has a similar loaner program if your equipment has to go in for servicing.
What about the price?? I
Ks it easy to change oil in those? Only thing i feel wasnt mentioned.
Bobby Rangel ya there is a hose connected to the drain. You just take the plug off with a wrench and the oil comes out of the hose.
I dont have a commercial yet so im learning about all mowers as i watch is the filter easy to get to on them also?
Great review
I'm. Glad to know not. To waist my time with scag time is money if I have to waist time fighting with the dealer it's not worth it
#loyaltyiskey
woahhhh.... clean that air filter :o nasty
Damn, yall just fucking up Scag.
WELL HOLD THE PHONE EVERYBODY!!!! now we know why pizza runs over all the trash on the lawns.
Too many steps on that scag to get off the mower so might as well grab them nipples and keep riding. Lmao
FS and FX are the exact same engine besides the filter,
awesome video
Pizza should have a mic
SKAGG THE ONY THING I SEE BETTER LOOKS LIKE A COLD BEER HOLDER IN GAS TANK. CAN I BUY JUST THE TANK TO SWAP. 😂😂😂😂😊
No comparison here, Ferris is superior in every aspect. Engine options, deck, drive system, and over all build quality are all better with the Ferris.
Cool video
The only difference is the filter like you said
Somebody loved Ferris.
Still like em, great mowers #wapacha 😏
My Scag SWZT came with key start.
Ryan Johnson not 48” deck, they don’t make them key start..u must have a bigger deck size
Saving Green Lawn Care that make sense I got the 52'. Please make a video on how the Ferris does on hills really curious to see how it performs. That's why I bought the SWZT because I do many accounts with big hills. Awesome videos man really helpful.
Pull cord is the only way to go. Scag is the best. Starters go out. Pull cord won’t. Sounds like y’all are kinda lazy. Just saying.
Walk behind? You got the thing to ride on it.
What's the price on the ferris
What is the bar on the front for
Ray Vandegrift it's an anti scalp roller
Its literally 10 times quicker than using pins. You could even adjust it while cutting if you wanted to.
ferris hydros leaks oil. and you better have fire stinger close
Ferris uses industry standard Hydro Gear drivetrain. So do nearly all commercial mowers. That's an HG issue
