Hello! Last video, lots of people want me to play Pathétique sonata by Beethoven. So, I prepared 2nd movement for Pathétique sonata. I am sorry for late upload, I had to solve copyright problem. I want you to enjoy this piece. Always leave comments which you want to listen to. I check them to make schedule. Thank you! Have a good weekend!
my grandpa used to play this for my grandma every day but after his stroke he couldn’t play piano anymore. She told me this a few weeks ago and now I want to learn this piece, so I can play it for my grandma on her birthday as remembrance to her deceased husband.
"The first movement in 'Pathétique' is the current despair we live in. The third movement gives us a little bit of hope. And the second movement that ties them both together is love." - Cosette
Gabriel Gan It is so „relaxing“ because it is the second movement of a piano sonata. You should listen to piano sonata 32, the last Beethoven ever created.
So many hundreds of hours. practicing. Played this sonata, memorized 35 pages, played it perfectly for recital. No record of it. No video or audio. Could never possibly play it again. Such is life
I literally have this same memory. I memorized the entire thing, played it at my recital with no mistakes, but it was never recorded. This is my favorite thing I’ve ever played.
The second movements are probably the least popular in all Beethoven sonatas; but they have such a relaxed feeling to them, it’s beyond this world. Also maybe the calm before the storms his third movements usually are. Would love to hear the third movement of this one though, it’s among my most favourite pieces and have some crazy memories attached to it :D
This song means a lot to me. It was played by my mom on the flute on my 1st birthday. And since then it was used to get me to sleep. Few years ago, i remembered this song and now that i play the piano, i can learn this peace easily. Now i use it to relax myself whenever i feel sad and whenever i've lost all hope. This song brings my hope back and then i'll tell myself that it all will be alright.
My dad used to play this when I was a baby. Probably went something like: D - What piece could I play to make him sleep? M - Is there any song called "Please F-ing stop screaming?" D - I know one called "The pathetic" M - That suits him too
I have a sweet story about this song, or at least sweet to me. My sister and I were recently visiting my elderly father, who is legally blind, somewhat disabled and homebound. He spends a lot of time on his recliner and listens to music, and he loves this particular melody. He told me that some words had come to him for that main melody, and he sang them for me, and I wrote them down. He was putting words that were dear to him along with this melody to express his heart, and I have thought about trying to record it for him. While we were doing this, my younger sister walked in, and said, "That sounds a lot like a Billy Joel song." Sure enough, Billy Joel used that melody in a song too - I did not know that! So I guess my 86 year old dad and Billy Joel have something in common, haha. Thanks so much for this video! It is beautiful, and very helpful too!!
I like the outline visuals here. Really beautiful and melodic playing too, great execution! This was one of the first pieces I tried to learn, kinda easy in technique but hard in interpretation. I should try this and the 3rd movement next time!
When I was little, I remember my father used to play this beauty on the piano for my mother. He got sick after a while and couldnt play anymore unfortunately. Since hes passed ive become a better and accomplished musician in my own right. So as a tribute to him I wanted to learn this piece and play it for my mother as a remembrance to her husband.
This is, in my opinion, one of the calmest (ad one of the most beautiful, though) pieces of Beethoven's Thanks, Kassia, for uploading such a marvellous piece
This movement brings tears to my eyes. It's like a little tender moment between those two passionate movements. And I simply love to watch how you played. Perfect.
don't you love how this theme comes back in the middle (and in a very very very subtle way, at the very very end) of the 3rd movement? Also, I'm sure I'm likely mistaken, but I don't believe it was all that common if ever done ever, to have themes from one movement of a sonata or a symphony, reappear in later movements of the same work. Far as a I know (and I'd need to double check to be sure,) Beethoven's 5th, and this piece, are the two earliest examples I personally know of, (there must be others, but am not yet aware what they may be.)
This is one of the most extraordinary pieces for me. Seemingly with a light touch, relaxed, but it awakens so many emotions it's just impossible to explain. And this is one of the best interpretations I have heard. Thank you.
There’s something about this song. Usually I don’t like listening to modern music and even a lot of older music because some of them give me this sense of sadness and discomfort that I can’t explain. I’m not one of those “nowadays music sucks” that’s not me, I love a lot of modern music, but most contemporary music to me just makes me feel uncomfortable. However; this is the first song in a while where I find comfort in the way it sounds, it’s so beautiful to me I can’t really explain why. It helps me fall asleep, and something about how it slowly ascends and then descends back in the beginning just brings me so much peace…
One of the most beautiful and relaxing classical pieces fabulously performed by one of the most talented pianists in this planet. Thank you so much, Kassia! 👍🏻😍👍🏻🍷
I have been living abroad for months now, in a hotel, for work. I am away from my wife, my two babies, and my piano. I have been watching your videos every day to the point that it's like your hands are mine and it fills the void a little bit. Thank you!
When I was still a child, the national telly channels in my country played this piece of music during a break of some TV shows, but with the orchestral version from Richard Claydeman. You can't imagine how happy I was when I first listened to the original version from Beethoven many years later
Never let anyone tell you what you can or can't do. Just look at Beethoven, everyone told him he would never be a musician, just because he was deaf... *But did he listen?*
Most of the time, I can tell when I'm listening to classical music, even on modern instruments. Compared to most of Beethoven's work, it's crazy how modern this piece sounds.
This is such a beautiful arrangement of Beethoven’s song, this song holds a place in my heart because it’s such a beautiful and emotional song , it was one of my aunties favourite classic pieces, she was a pianist herself... though she never made it big her playing was beautiful, and your playing reminds me of her, she was elegant with her touch and she was so talented, I bought a piano, and I’m going to carry on my auntie’s dream for her, and I’m going to learn this song for my family 💜 I love you Kassia, your an amazing pianist and your so inspirational.
This piece's complexity lies in the right hand's ability to emphasize melody over its continual 16ths and triplets throughout. Truly a technical challenge!
Great stuff Kassia. This is a wonderful way to learn where you can see the notes coming up AND the hands to see which fingers to use. Thank you ! (I'd say I must be about 500 of your views on this video !)
Ah yes, Adagio cantabile of the Pathétique. A somber rendition with which feels like a different Tristesse. This is probably one of Beethoven's saddest, but one of your finest renditions. Amazing work!
Cjeaglehawk lol it has three movements so since you’ve heard these two then you’ve only the third left. You might recognize it as many people have heard it somewhere but don’t exactly know by who it is or what the specific name of the piece is.
This piece was stuck in my head for the past couple of days and I couldn't remember what it was called for the life of me but I knew it sounded like something Beethoven would compose and I was right! So glad I found this again, I started to learn it on flute and I love connecting to the emotion of the music
Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata This is beautifully played and a rather unique and unusual emphasis on the piano keys going up into smoke but it’s really well done and doesn’t distract from listening to this lovely sonata. Excellently done ✅ Beautifully played. …. Aghhh
I have heard this piece many times but never has any of *them* managed to give me goosebumps, but you *have*. This was hauntingly beautifully played. Thank you so much.
That is the third song I am listening at 1 am in my bed, cause I was Always interested in music and I thought to myself I need to know the roots. The song before was Nicole blanche and I read a comment that touched me and got some shy tears and then this one was just after. Couldn't help but having a little more
this piece will forever and always be my favorite. my mom used to play this and it sounded beautiful, and it brings back so many happy memories. i’m so damn excited to start learning piano.
This almost made me cry, it's beautiful... I would play this piece exactly as you have played it! Most of the pianists exaggerate the forti that appear in two sections of this piece, but I think that since Beethoven wrote "Adagio Cantabile" (for the ones who don't know what "Cantabile" means, it's an Italian word that hasn't a true translation in English, but you can translate it as "Sing-able"), this Movement should be played using the force of gravity, not the muscles of your arms, and in some cases the muscles of your hands either, even in the sections that are marked as Forte. You clearly demonstrated us that you are a "Major League" Pianist, flawless technique, indisputable expression, lovely smoothness in movements etc. Nice Job!

When the day comes for me to leave this world, I would like this piece to be played. It doesn't matter that no one is present except one or two strangers. I think it transmits apacifying calm that I never had in my life, in my soul. Once the storm is over, go out to see the sun shine between the clouds renewed with whiteness and tranquility. That would be the only gift I could give to my fellow humans. And then oblivion. Rest from the suffering of not knowing what to live for.

What about the second movement of Sonata No. 12? (To be fair, that sonata has four movements.)
