Before surgery weight 396. Lost 71 lbs. Had surgery 8/27/2019. Lost 45 lbs more. NO REGRETS! Weight is down to 280. My A1C before Surgery was 5.7, Borderline Diabetic. Today it is 4.6, Normal!!!
Update 1/23/2020. No longer need Oxygen with Bi-pap Machine due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Lost a Total of 134 pounds. Had a Sleep Study done 1/22/2020 and Sleep Apnea has Improved.
I’m having this done in August. Had GDM during pregnancy and 15months later I got diabetes now! I’m checking for the preeclampsia I had after the c section if that came back but lucky it didn’t. Having a kids isn’t easy. I’m also left with muscle tear on my belly and would like to have surgery for that once I’m done with the gastric bypass.
I did my research about gastric sleeve surgery and gastric bypass for many years now ❤ I’m soon getting gastric sleeve surgery or gastric bypass which ever mr dr decides is better for me 😊
My father had no issues of obesity but suffered from obstruction of first part of duodenum, he had to do this surgery anyways. Its been a month he still has insomnia, starves and lost weight around 25 lbs.
Isn’t mini Gastric bypass in between Sleeve and GBP with the advantages of one GBP and without its disadvantages? So can we say that finally an ideal procedure is found.
Dear.. Surgeries are always with minimal lifetime risk of complications. If you can lose weight by exercise and dieting that is the best. If you already have some health complications , co-morbidities or disease due to obesity, may be you can go for surgery as benefit will be more than risk (discuss with best gastroenterologist out there) thank you
I had nothing but complication after complication for 8 yrs straight. Never knew it would wind up like this. Biggest Regret of my life. Works for some but those it doesn't, it's an awful way to live.
The problem with this is that it creates a lifetime of starvation. The body needs calories and nutrients to function. Yes, you loose weight, but now you will deal with the effects of starvation. Your body can loose weight naturally. Treating a metabolic problem with surgery isn't addressing the underlying problem.
Zamara Pierce you're absolutely correct, I personally can't comprehend going with this option over losing weight through a healthy diet and exercise. But that's not who this surgery is for. Research demonstrates that it's better for someone to get this surgery who wouldn't otherwise lose this weight on their own. If I had the magic words to get patients to lose the weight on their own over this surgery I'd be more than happy to see this surgery become a thing of the past.
Zamara Pierce not only that; i had it and now i had to take more vitamins cause what i eat is not enough nutrition.. if i over eat meaning i eat spoon more or few more bites i feel sick for hours.
Yes, bodies can loose weight naturally. How many people do you think are able to achieve and maintain weight loss? Not many. Treating a metabolic problem with surgery is actually addressing the underlying problem. Metabolic surgery results in type 2 diabetes remission rates of 80-85%. Studies show weight loss (sustained) can get around 4% remission type 2 diabetes remission rate. Or you can be the almost 10% of Americans with type 2 diabetes and deal with greatly increased risk of coronary artery disease (#1 diabetes killer), congestive heart failure, heart attack, diabetic end stage kidney disease, blindness (diabetes is leading cause in US), foot amputations, and many other health problems.
You dont starve if you eat the right things. We are used to eating enormous portions. Its just a matter of making adjustments and learning how to eat the right amount of food.
edbn24 not true I had it in 2010 and am healthier than I have ever been. I have my annual physical to make sure I’m getting proper nutrients and take my vitamins and minerals daily and lead a normal healthy life at a normal weight
@edbn24 you sound like a 150kg fat fuck waiting for your heart to burst. I've had the procedure and have never had issues. Then again I am in the French health care system which is eons more evolved in post op care.
Having had Gastric Bypass, Lost 134 pounds, No Longer Needing a Walker, No Longer Being Diabetic, Obstructive Sleep Apnea Improving, No Longer Needing Oxygen-Um, Not Seeing This As Dumb or Stupid. Very Smart and Wise Choice I Made.
🌱🥬❤️ Eating a delicious, high-nutrient, plant-based diet could eliminate the need for most people to do this surgery. When you eat a high-nutrient, plant-based diet, your body has to expend extra calories to break down all the fiber, and because it’s getting the nutrition it needs, cravings go way down, and eating becomes balanced. Food can be enjoyed rather than being an addiction.
You act like fat people haven't tried every diet and idea in the world to lose weight already. Sometimes it takes extremes to help someone that can't help themselves. Though your idea makes sense it's not that easy to train yourself. Some people need to be forced. I myself have lost 100lbs only to gain it back... Over and over. I need something more permanent that will make me eat right.
There are So Many Different Factors in regards to Why We Are Heavyweight, Why Diets Works For Some But Not All, Genetics Have A Big Impact. Sometimes Dieting Is Just Not Going To Be The Answer. That is Why We Are All Different.
Darla Greene, true, for some, there are factors beyond diet, but for most, diet will work-that’s why the surgery works-because you’re eating less food. What I propose isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle, and it doesn’t feel like deprivation. The food is great. :)

Good for you honey. Best of luck on your journey. 😉
Thank you Sandi.

I did my research about gastric sleeve surgery and gastric bypass for many years now ❤ I’m soon getting gastric sleeve surgery or gastric bypass which ever mr dr decides is better for me 😊
The best thing to do would be to have a daily caloric deficit until you lose the weight. I know it sounds simple but it is true.
Thank a lot ❤
My father had no issues of obesity but suffered from obstruction of first part of duodenum, he had to do this surgery anyways. Its been a month he still has insomnia, starves and lost weight around 25 lbs.
Great job thank you
Amazing!

Sorry to hear the outcomes some of you have had. No, the Gastric Bypass/Roux N-Y Surgery Does Not Work For Some.
My dad is getting this today😅
Thank you! Now I know what I’m will to get
why is it called Roux en-Y? My teacher once explained that it looks like an R and Y but I frankly don't see it...
What if you had gastric bypass surgery and now need a slave surgery?
Why don't they just take the rest of the stomach out since it's not in use
Because we can reverse the whole procedure
How much cost this surgery?

Not All Diets Work For Everyone.
Also Most Diets Do Not Work Because You Lose Weight While On the Diet-Go Off and Weight Is Back Plus Maybe More.

Please stop talking about BMI.....BMI is a joke....people should not even talk about that....
Fistulas are very common! This down the road will be a foolish decision for most!
