    I am a second year medical student. Embryology has always been tough for me because I couldn't imagine. We had studied about gastrulation in first year but my orientation was lacking. I came to this video after watching 3D tour of second week of development. I can't thank you enough. Now my orientation is clear. I could finally understand every bits and pieces. Thank you for this animation sir.

    • @MedicoVisual
      @MedicoVisual  Рік тому +2

      Information for whole of the human being is in every cell starting from zygote (in the form of DNA). Epiblast forms the complete human. The primitive streak "guides" the epiblast in forming the three germ layers. So in a sense we can say that primitive streak contains the info to create human being.

    Thank u so much for this explanation. I'm literally watching and clapping. However, I would like to know where the splanchnic mesoderm came from because I used to think it was so e of the cells from the ectoderm layer that formed it.

    • @MedicoVisual
      @MedicoVisual  11 місяців тому

      I sincerely apologize for the late reply. And thank you so much for your appreciation.
      The origin of extra-embryonic mesoderm (both splanchnopleuric and somatopleuric) is controversial. Most people believe that it arise from hypoblast cells. (specifically, yolk sac endoderm). While some say they arise from cytotrophoblast or from epiblast. There is some contribution from the epiblast as well. During gastrulation, some of the epiblast cells migrate laterally to contribute towards the extra-emrbyonic mesoderm.
      In summary, there is no definite answer to this question. But most common view is that they originate from "Yolk Sac Endoderm".

    Are the first blood cells that form in the yolk sack coming from epiblast or hypoblast origin? As I understand it’s coming from hypoblast so it’s not completely true that the epiblast gives rise to all types of cells in the embryo because some blood cells formed by hypoblast right ? Or am I wrong ?

    • @MedicoVisual

      Blood cells develop neither from epiblast nor from hypoblast. They develop from the mesoderm.

      Most of the blood cells are derived from the IntraEmbryonic mesoderm.. However some early blood cells are derived from the blood islands that form within the extraembryonic mesoderm. The origin of extraembryonic mesoderm is controversial. Most people believe that it arise from hypoblast cells. (specifically, yolk sac endoderm). While some say they arise from cytotrophoblast or from epiblast.

    is mesoderm and mesenchyme same ?

    • @MedicoVisual
      @MedicoVisual  Рік тому +1

      There are two main type of embryonic cells:
      1. Epithelial cells: that are structurally defined properly i.e. They have specific shape like Cuboidal, Columnar, Squamous etc. Furthermore, the epithelial cells are inter-connected with each other through cell-to-cell interactions.
      2. Mesenchymal cells: On the other hand, are irregularly shaped and are not connected with each other. They are interspersed in a ground substance.
      The mesoderm is the major source of mesenchyme. That is why often in literature specially during teaching 3rd week, these terms are interchangeably used. But please note that mesenchyme can also arise from Neural Crest Cells. And sometimes by other layers.
