Ninja Nerds!
Join Professor Zach Murphy for the next discussion we will be having on the development of the Embryo! We continue this Embryology series by explaining how Gastrulation occurs. During this lecture, we pick up where we left off and continue into the second week of gestation. Zach gives a brief overview on the concept of implantation of the embryo, and continues with the bilaminar disc and how it will eventually form the trilaminar disc consisting of the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm! We also discuss the formation of the notochord and what it is specifically responsible for. It is truly unbelievable how we can form and develop into so much from one tiny cell, so let's learn everything we can on the fascinating process of embryogenesis. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

Just a first year medical student trying to complete the whole embryology just before exams and these videos are making that possible.!! Thankyou so much.!
Sooo trueee 💯
Did you finish it? How was your exam?
Same!
This is me rn 😭😂
Same thing fam😂
Hey bro, I’m a doctor and during my medical education, embryology was one of the less preferred classes because of its difficulty. I can say that before your videos, I didn’t know NOTHING about embryology, and now I watched your videos and I understand it perfectly. I can say that you are better by far than medical school professors. Thanks I really admire you!
I definitely agree. Your content is amazing🤩
@@silvaanimelover8924 he literally said he’s a doctor meaning he’s done with medical school and he still didn’t know anything about embryology until he came across this guy’s videos.😂😂

not going to forget you brother, when i finish my medical education (which is pretty soon), part of my salary shall go into funding your channel.
Keep up the great work, hope you hit youtube jackpot soon :D
God bless you.
Between them and AMBOSS I wish I could give most of my tuition to them. It's actually teaching us instead of how professors have gotten so lazy in using power points and talking off a slide than the actual teaching part. I am forever indebted
Will do the same👍...lots of love❤️❤️ for your channel
I will donate to him also
me too!!!! he is too good
thank you for this wake up call. I needed it. I'm not finishing soon actually just started but I'm definitely following your lead!!
I love how you throw in words like 'cool and beautiful' about stuff not everyone would necessarily deem cool or beautiful
Marvelling at the beauty of biological processes. Blows me everytime. :)
And when he gets genuinely excited about explaining something, it makes me smile so wide 😄
@@octopuswify587 Yaaasss Yaaasss, it's so effortlessly natural😅❤
I always like repeat those parts in the videos and like maannnn this is beautiful😍
Yeaah me too he makes me love it more
Hi 🎉
You have been the reason i've passed multiple of my exams. You have my respect, and I wish you a lot of success in the future.

I teared not only bc he teaches so darn well but also with so much passion, whenever he talks about a molecular signaling pathway and referring to it “so freakin cool” just makes me eager to learn
Totally agree
It's crazy how most of us will become doctors and you have helped us throughout the whole process . Grateful for you !
you are incredible, my medical school professor is trash. thank you!!
SAME here 😂😂

This is like a million times better compared to my lectures in med school. I don't get half the information by hours of listening to the prof or reading his scripts
compared to what one of your videos does for me. Thank you so much!
SERIOUSLY, YOU ARE AMAZING!! Few people in the world have the same ability of explaining things as well as you do!! Thank you so much for sharing this (and all of your other videos).
You are so welcome!
Honestly you are the best tutor ever been on earth. After I finish my medical education I will dedicate part of my salary to support, fund and to be a part of this channel which saves the carriers of many doctors and medical students. God bless you ❤️🙏🏻
I finally understand and actually like embryology the most now🥺
Thank you so much.
This is incredibly a good lecture, let's have a talk from my e-mail.... Juliusmakaujm22@gmail. Com
Ik right! I used to hate embryology because my teacher made it extremely hard and boring, but now that I am actually understanding it is actually quite fun
Me too❤️🔥
When I get enough money to donate I will return the favor you guys have given so many times over
The Ninja Nerd School of Medicine will be on my medical degree. Thank you
You are the king of teaching MED + Science, you should get an Oscar. Thank you so much!! so happy your making videos
I'm from a very backward area but still getting access to quality education online..great help..please keep it up♥️♥️
Once i graduate, my wish is to meet you, and thank you for all that you've done for me during my medical formation. Sorry about my english.
this guy is a gift from god to all medical students and enthusiastic people, he is talented humble and sharply smart at delivering the information. I wish I could do better than thank him in a comment
have no clue what I'd do without videos like yours, after having my professor whizz through powerpoint slides this is a great way to get my head around it!
21:38 "so we can see how these little f****** are moving" best part
I'm pretty sure he said "suckers".
Let a man dream lol

Your whole embryology series is simply AWESOME. It helped me understand many different things that I struggled with. Thank you!
After i am done with my MBBS ... i would like to come and meet you to thank you in person! you are a saviour!
Whenever I'm intimidated by a certain subject, I remind myself that I trust your explanations will be clear and that the logic makes sense and is something I can follow/comprehend. Thank you for all your videos.
This is by far the best video I’ve seen on Gastrulation. I feel like I have a much better grasp on the topic. Thank you so much!!
You guys deserve a medal. I'm subscribing to your channel for life.
No compliment you are father of medicine it’s impossible how you makes everything look easy thanks for all your efforts towards us we appreciate it so much ❤️❤️❤️
You're literally the only reason why med school has been bearable. Your lectures are concise and easy to understand. Thank you so much
Thank you for saving a lot of medical students from the misery of having to imagine what is going on when we read with books without pictures. You are a blessing. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
Love the fact that he found it cool and it made me instantly think of this topic as cool too....I honestly appreciate this video beyond words.
Unbelievebly educational how you cover something tough like embryology in only 40 minutes and it still makes perfect sense!
Not one of the comments on how good this explanation of gastrulation is exaggerated. You are a genius at this. You don’t have to put so much effort into explaining these things and still get views but you do. May your journey always be filled with light.
This is amazing! I just started medical school a few weeks ago and I feel so much better about embryology thanks to you. First exam block is in two weeks and I think this will have been a great help :)

This man is literally amazing..
You explained such a difficult topic in such a smooth way and that too with hand drawn diagrams .
Respect 🙌🙌
Hands down, this guys is one of the very best teachers I've encountered. I've tried so many resources to get my head around embryology and I finally get it. Thank you SO much!
I think that it's amazing that we can access these incredible classes for free. Hats off to you, professor!
I have never understood this process so well. You are soo great. I regret why i did not start watching your channel earlier. So helpful. Thank you so very much
This video is phenomenal; seriously cannot thank you enough for making it and helping many medical students worldwide. P.S. at 22:11 he meant to say hypoblast not epiblast because that had me confused for a minute. Good luck y’all!
Thank God u commented thats where I became confused too
You are beyond a life savor. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for every video you guys make.
Dude, your literally the reason ive passed multiple exams. Im having a tough time with embryo and putting it all in perspective in regards to a timeline, this has helped so much. thanks for all you do it has been a life saver!!!
Anyone can be a doc with these videos . You are amazing . Thank you for your help ✨
U r our super hero 😍😍😍😍....million thx for sharing this with us...from the renal videos to the endocrine...and neuro...u heve made medicine easy
You are an exceptional teacher. I didn't think I'd benefit from an embryology lecture post-grad but here you are proving me wrong. Wish you all the best.
Embryology has been quite confusing and this is giving me lots of hope I honestly can't thank you enough for all of these amazing videos! The long videos were intimidating at first but every time I watch its like a revelation.
That's We Call 'Command On The Concepts " 😍 Awesome 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks a bunch.. this is the best way I have been taught embryology till date. Can't wait for the next part.
Having my embryology exams tomorrow and guess what I have

No word can express how grateful I am, these videos are helping me to learn medical school in a deep understanding way, I appreciate you champ!!
Thank you, I'm a 1st yr Medicine student and your video is very helpful for our bimonthly exam. Please keep on uploading❤❤❤😍😍😍
Thank you so much ninja this was really hard for me you can't imagine how I'm enjoying right now studying embryology I love you so much 😘
Absolute legend! You have literally converted what was nonsensical gibberish to something digestible and understandable. I love your schematic lecture style and you are so great at explaining complicated concepts. Thanks!
I can't imagine embryology and other medical subjects without your videos 😂💜

THANK YOU 💜🌷
Best resource I have seen so far, will definitely be donating when I can, thank you!
Thank you soooo much... Can't stop thanking you ❤
Not to be dramatic, but I could CRY because of how long I struggled with this topic before I found your video. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!

Binge watching this whole series of embryology. You're a hero!
this is the first time in my medical school that I understood this video, and you made me more interested in embryology first time ever, thank you so much. Till now I was just cramming things and forgetting.
Hi , professor.. I am a doctor and I just wasn't able to understand embryology very well because it needs a lot of imagination. But with you perfect drawings I get the concept very well .. Thank you from heart ❤️

Brooooooo i‘m dying over here in german medical school and you are just saving MY LIFE
I like how excited he is talking about these incredible events lol 😂
So could we technically say that the endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm are all derived from the epiblast since the hypoblast is replaced with epiblast cells in order to form the endoderm?
Yes
@@doctorgaming4683 If that is the case, then what is the point of the hypoblast if it just get replaced anyway?
@@BrianaKozak it gives Exocoelomic Membrane >>>>This membrane surrounds the blastocystic cavity and lines the internal surface of the cytotrophoblast. The exocoelomic membrane soon become modified to form the Primary Umbilical Vesicle(aka: yok sak )
endoderm is the replaced hypoblast it is not the part of the epiblast
Indeed you are making my school life simpler than ever, and it's just amazing how you are explain this difficult topics to a simple stuff that everyone can understand
As a new guy to pursuit my postgraduate study, these videos help me a lot. thank you so much
amazingg!!! keep at it, it helps a lot!
One question about 4:30 you said that cells proliferate into the uterine wall by breaking through the zona pellucida, but I thought the blastocyst hatched before it implanted so we dont have a ZP anymore?
I think it was just a brain fart. He speaks for 37 minutes straight, all off the top of his head, about a very complex topic with tons of terms. So a brain fart or two would not be unexpected.
@@TonyTigerTonyTiger I wasn't not accusing him just wanted to make sure 😊
Amazing video. I have been really stumped by embryology in my classes but the way you describe this process is so easy to follow and understand. The pacing of the video is perfect. Visuals are simple enough to where I can redraw them in my own notes. Thank you!
Incredible once again, I have been using countless resources and books but none helped me visualise this process as well as you did. Thank you thank you thank you!

Aliza Asad I know right!!!!!!
It was an awesome lecture Sir, you are highly appreciated for whatever you're doing for thousands of students!
All the difficulties of this particular topic are quite clear now.
thanks Sir!
Thank you Zach for this. I'm in the process of doing my written final exams. I want to fully grasp the gastrulation process. My professor wants us to fully grasp cells and the germ layers. In the alternative medicine, we can easily map out disease development if we have this knowledge cemented. More blessings to this channel!
Please i have exam and i really need the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th weeks of develop can u help me plz
im having too : 1year proff from kmu hahhahah
First comment 😁😁thank you very much.
I’ve been trying to understand this subject for so long and you come here and make some magic. Thank you so much.
I understood this before, but not like I do now! You do amazing work. Please never stop
I owe you all my knowladge in medicine so far ! You truly are my hero ! I respect you more than I do to my any professors at uni ! Thank you so much for you amazing videos ! Please keep helping us ! World is going to be a really better place with people like you in it ! Thank you sooo sooo much 😍😍😍
the summary at the end of what you just taught in the video is so helpful as a check to see if I understood! thank you for these videos!
It’a mind baffling how medical schools don’t feel the need to make this information this easily understandable to future doctors, but instead make their journey of becoming a physician harder. Thank you for helping us out!
Can't express how insightful this was compared to my university doctors. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
A million times better than the lectures at Med school. Thank you for teaching me Embryology!
You are a genius in teaching, sir. Thank you very much for making our medical lives much better ❤️💐
Sending love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Thank You soo much!!! I didnt understand a single thing about this process when i was reading the books, but You explained it in such a great manner that i understand the hole thing. Greetings from argentina
Fantastic videos. you really have a knack for delivering information in a concise and easy to understand fashion without oversimplifying.
Wow you are really a lifesaver. I hated embryology before but right now it feels like all connected and fun. Hope you guys succeed in every aspect of your lifes.
Dude, so good! I'm in third year medical school and wish I found you earlier! This is helping a lot with my Oby/Gyn term. Love your vibe! Thanks so much!
So my Swedish medical school thought it was a good idea to introduce embryology in term 1 and do it in 2 weeks, then completely forget about it and assume that we remember this abstract topic one year later when we´re about to talk about gonadal development... I panicked and came here and I wasn´t disappointed.
This was phenomenal. Great job. Thank you!
I cant say thank you enough, you made this super easy to understand. You are gifted with the talent of teaching and you are generously blessing us with it
Thank you, Zach. I appreciate you and your team very much.
You are the biology teacher we all need. Can't thank you enough 🙌
Thank you so much for these videos sir, they’ve been such a great help. You’re the best!!
This was absolutely LITERALLY the most perfect explanation of this subject!!! Thank you smmm!!!
I'm eternally thankful for your videos!! Med school is being saved by you! Bless you
