- In this visual medical lecture Dr. Aizaz from MedicoVisual talks about Somites, Somitomeres, Somitogenesis and changes in Intraembryonic mesoderm during third week of Development of Human Embryo.
00:00 Intraembryonic Mesoderm is not an undifferentiated structure
01:06 Intraembryonic Mesoderm is sub-divided into Axial, Paraxial, Intermediate and Lateral Plate Mesoderm
03:50 Paraxial mesoderm is segmented into Somites to form the Vertebral column and related structures [Somitogenesis]
05:30 Somitogenesis
06:51 Partially segmented mesodermal columns are called Somitomeres
09:04 What are Somites
09:54 What is the difference between Somites and Somitomeres
10:21 Each somite is further divided into Dermatome, Myotome and Sclerotome
12:01 What are Neuromers
13:50 Dermatome vs Dermotome
14:28 Somites can be used to determine the age of Embryo
16:27 Lateral Plate mesoderm is further divided into Splanchnopleuric and Somatopleuric layers
17:46 Intraembryonic celom

Thank you so much!!!!! This video explained everything so well! I like the part about the cariogenic area but can you please further explain the formation of heart tubes?

Thank you so much for your appreciation. Unfortunately, notes are not available as of now
i am eagerly waiting for your video about head tail and lateral folding😥
Please upload some more videos on embryology
Thanks. Working on it.
thanks it is an incredible explain but do you have explained lateral plate mesoderm in 3d ?
Thank you for your appreciation. Lateral plate mesoderm forms the cardiovascular system mainly. There is a complete course on development of Cardiovascular system on MedicoVisual.com (www.medicovisual.com/courses/premium-cardiovascular-embryology-3d-masterclass)
Thanks you a lot, but I'm confused about splanchnopleuric and somatopleuric mesoderm because in a book I have seen that splanchnopleuric is the Splanchnic mesoderm with yolk sac and the somatopleuric is somatic mesoderm with the ectoderm. The book is Biología del desarrollo. Cuaderno de trabajo. Norberto López Serna
You are welcome.
Splachnopleura (NOT splanchnopleuric) is the splanchnic mesoderm (also called splanchnopleuric mesoderm) + endoderm. While the Somatopleura (NOT somatopleuric) is the somatic mesoderm (also called somatopleuric mesoderm) + ectoderm. This is standard nomenclature used in almost every textbook of Embryology
Sir at 15:50 , the table telling number of somites is actually number of somite pairs . Right sir??
Yes
Awesome 👏👏 Please can you make a video about heart formation ??
Thank you. I will create videos on Heart formation soon.
@@MedicoVisual thank youuuu 😁
Please do sclerotome comes just a bit before dermomyotome?
Sorry I didn't understand your question. Can you please elaborate.

Doctor in this diagram where is the oropharyngeal membrane is suppose to be located ?
It is area composed of endoderm with ectoderm without mesoderm but as I see this is all a mesoderm continuous with each other , there is no area of isolated endoderm alone
Actually Oropharyngeal membrane is not shown here. It should be between the Notochord and Neural tube caudally, and the Lateral Plate Mesoderm cranially. There would be little to no intermediate and paraxial mesoderm in this region.
So doctor does that mean the intermediate and paraxial mesoderm is not really continuous like that in the cranial region? Because this region is supposed to be occupied by the oropharyngeal membrane ?
This is actually controversial. Some literature says it is continuous, while others disagree
Thank you very much Doctor
